- Home is where the heart is and my heart belongs to the Highlands. This journey sees me dropped 85 miles (137km) from home and I head back through some of the highlands most beautiful scenery to try and get back home. I was unsure on certain parts of the route and wasn't sure it could be done, what a great adventure I had....

Oh Murray Murray Murray you lucky lucky boy.if only I was 40 years younger.but never mind I can now live my wild adventures through you.🍷🥃🥃 thank you for taking me out with you
Binged about 10 hours of your videos over the past week, mate the videography, the narration and the locations are awesome, i really cant get up into the high hills just now and its genuinely like missing a loved one, but your videos are somehow a substitute.
What i take from your videos and from my 100s of days on the hills is being up there is the only way you are blessed with the fleeting moments of true natural beauty, i cant wait until i can escape to the wonder of the mountains, until then i will be watching all your content with admiration and gratitude.... great channel all the best for 2024.
🙏
Love all your videos Murray, the longer the better.
The fantastic views. The weather. The great narrative. The hard work and effort you put in make your videos some of the best things on tv.
Thankyou so much.
Thanks Katrina - very much appreciated

@@ScotlandsMountains Hope your ankle is ok
Great film - definitely not a video! What an adventure. The whole gamut of emotions, so beautifully described as ever. Thank you, once again, for providing us with such great entertainment.
What a superb adventure, I thoroughly enjoyed being along for the journey! And the camera work was as excellent as always. Thanks Murray!!
Great Murray! Out of your comfort zone in a field at Luncarty but happy up a snow covered Munro with your ice axe out😅 I grew up at Tulliemet so know and love the hills around Loch Ordie. I met a lad years ago at a disco in Pitlochry. I thought I'd show him my hills so took him on a hike up from Tulliemet and down Glen Derby......well you know what a bog fest that is: he had on slip-on shoes into the bargain!! However, it didn't put him off cause we celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary this Sunday💒 Loch Oisinneach - it was always pronounced 'Oshnie'. The wee, broken down house you passed was also called Oshnie, though in more recent times 'Jock's Bothy'. My dad knew 2 sisters who grew up in that house so occupied well into 20th century.
Fantastic - the slip on shoes cant have been too bad ;)lol Great to hear more information on this area, such a wonderful area to explore, I will be back for sure in the future to explore a little more me thinks :)

I cannot emphasise enough how much i love your videos they have kept me when i have been at my very lowest, they have helped me to rest and switch off when i was so sad by some very personal news in my life that left me heartbroken to the very core, so thank you for sharing these adventures with us, on a silly note i didnt see a scotch egg did it roll away.
Hope whatever you had to go through resolved itself, or that you have found the strength to endure it. Hugs from Louisiana.
Excellent trip, I've don it all above Dunkeld. Well done. I loved the 'bloody bog' comment as it's been said over and over once you lose a path.
Amazing journey and amazing video, really enjoyed that one Murray👍👍👍
I did the Lairig n’Lui to Rochiemurchus before returning to the Linn of Dee via the Lairig Ghru with my dad a few years ago. Loved this video, Murray. I miss my dad and this is one memory I will always have of him ❤️
That's this evening's entertainment sorted. Thanks, Murray!
I remember the boulder field being a pain approaching the pools of Dee, and the bog up to Corrour bohy.
Fantastic trek Murray . You looked in pain when you went over on your ankle .
Great video 👌
twas sore when I did it but I walked it in and was glad it was on flat ground at that point !! might have been different had it been rough ground afterwards :)

You will do the Cape Wrath yet mate ;) Atb
One day maybe - when I retire - don’t have enough time (and I am not quick enough to do it quickly !! Lol 😂) catch up soon Ray
Looks to be a good one Murray. Will watch once the kids are in bed 😅
My mate went camping up Rannoch Moor last year and he swears he saw Big Foot. As soon as he told me he forages for mushrooms, it quickly made sense.
Quality but 😂❤
😂👍
I just returned from a three day pilgrimage in the Mount Field Wilderness World Heritage Area (jings, thon's a moothfu'), essentially to see the only winter deciduous tree in Australia do its turn to gold and red. It's a popular and relatively accessible area, on the edge of very remote country and the novelty of the foliage brings the crowds out, especially to Tarn Shelf. I spoke to lots of folk who remarked Tasmania's mountains must be similar to Scotland - and they are, through a squinted eye, but for our literal hatchet job on the Caledonian Forest. Traversing the plateau on the way out is very redolent of a rich and varied Cairngorms, but never grazed by hoofed beasts the plant life is astonishing. We could have that again in a rewilded Scotland.
I like these longer adventures, fulfilling Frodo's legacy perhaps 😉
I didnt quite make it to mount doom ;)lol a nice long journey though and thoroughly enjoyable :) Hope you had fun on your adventure too

Jeezo Murray. Never mind the digestives this is a Scotch Egg job! 🤣 Great video. Love the long form.
Thanks Murray an enjoyable watch 🏔🏔
Great video - interesting route home. It's a skein of geese in the air.
Nice one Murray, will watch this later, thanks 🙂🍿
Very much enjoyed this Murray. Thanks for the effort.
Tomorrow’s entertainment sorted for my breaks at work .Much appreciated Murray.
I'm doing part of the East highland trail Aviemore to pitlochry end of next month.
Worrying myself over food more than the distance
Good luck - hope the weather shines for your hike when it comes 👍
Hello Murray, I was up there two weeks ago! Managed to bag 4 from the devils point, my 1st solo munros! Tested my new tent and gear I got for Christmas. Truly amazing place. It was in fact you that got me into munros and walking 🙏🏼
Wonderful idea and brilliantly done Murray. That stretch of bog and waist high heather reminded me of the worst parts of the Derbyshire Peak District that is my "local" wild country :)
Nothing beats long distance treks to properly take in the country
I must do another this summer and bag a few munros along the way, cheers
Cracking video, looks an amazing route. Thankyou!
Absolutely BRILLIANT Murray ........ loved it all from the train ride to the scene outside the "kirk:. THANK YOU Those boots were made for ......
Well done Murray what a trip Well edited your channel is better than any TV
Had an incident myself a number of years ago with cattle in the sidlaws of all places out we my mutt got surrounded with Cattle if it wasn't for a fence and cattle grid 😢
Thanks Keith - I feel your pain with the cattle - I am not a fan!!lol
What an achievement Murray, your a Rock 🪨 !
I’m glad there were no eyes staring back up at you from the Bog from hell ! As in the lord of the rings ! Did you find out what that big bird was at all ? I really felt it for you when you done your ankle in, all that way through some treacherous unstable walking ways and to think that it happened nearly at the end was horrible for you, I can’t believe you carried on, but you don’t give up Murray, no way, not after that treck ! As always a privilege to come along via the ethernet.
I love Dunkeld and have fond memories with my mother there. Very picturesque. I’m having a Murray fest atm catching up on all I’ve missed, that’s my third today, I’m now going to watch “Cold” look after those ankles my friend, your keeping me feeling alive whilst I await my operation on my spine so I can walk again. Your videos mean a great deal to many of us I’m sure. With respect Alaya Norfolk.
Thanks Alaya - hope you have been enjoying the videos and thank you for taking time to comment on them - really appreciated 🙏🙏👍
Thank you Murray, we absolutely loved this..
Looking for solitude 💪💪💪….the best medicine 🏴🏴🏴
Great film as always. Glad to see it's not just me who hasn't converted to trail shoes and who's feet ache on roads and hard surfaces 😂😂😂
Really enjoyed that Murray thanks for putting the effort into that one. Some of my favourite stomping grounds through the Cairngorms. Hope your ankle mending ok.
Thanks - ankle wasn’t too bad - healing ok - but not sure when weight bearing which was good :) hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 👍
Very true that cameras can't capture the feeling of these mountains. They reduce these vast three-dimensional layered spaces to a flat picture, and so much gets lost.
Thanks for the hard work on the walk and the videos.
Ben a gee Ben ago Nigel Ben,oops he's a boxer
your knowledge of the landscape is vast and yes I can see your views no problem as the video footage is A+++epic journey, Simply Wonderful 👏🌻🌈🌎
I'm the first one to comment on this video! Great! Congrats from my home (in Mexico), and thank you for another great adventure!
Viva México
Hope you enjoyed the video Diego 👍
@@ScotlandsMountains I have just finished watching it. I like to retrace your hikes, step by step, on All Trails so usually it's a matter of a couple of hours! Good job, mate!
Thank you, really enjoyed watching your adventure 👍🏻
fantastic video, thank you.
Brilliant video Murray and great depiction of some lovely isolated, off the track spots. Good to see they finally got round to repairing the bridge beyond the Hermitage (for a while it was more crumbling than Rumbling).
I'm not sure what to say Murray but that was absolutely brilliant to watch.
I've done about 30 metres with zero ascent walking backwards and forwards to the fridge for a cold one watching this.
I can't imagine the amount of effort required for this but trust me this was wonderful to watch and thanks for sharing this with us.

Another thoroughly enjoyable watch Murray ,cheers for taking us all along on yet another " fantastic journey " through Scotland 🏴
Really enjoying this epic trail, I take my hat off to you, so much extra kit to carry. No wonder your feet were screaming. An inspired film. Love it!
Thanks Matthew - my feet were indeed a bit sore 😂😂
Was on Beinn A Ghlo on Good Friday and up Glen Taitenaich on the Monday. I was chatting to my companions about your occasional detours to avoid the crowds and mentioned your bike in back to front loop of Beinn a Ghlo where you disappeared down the 'wrong' side of Carn Liath back to your bike. Little did I know you were doing the same again a stone's throw away. Was staying on Dalmunzie estate so cd pick and choose the Blue Sky days where you cd not. Never been up that track to the west of Carn an Righ. Might go up there next time round. Thanks again for the effort taken sharing your adventures Murray! J
Its a nice queit route round the back of Beinn A Ghlo and a rather nice ridge up if memory serves me right :) hope you had a fab weekend away :)

❤…just fabulous Murray…thank you for sharing your experience and inspiring enthusiasm and knowledge x
Murray - this content is next level. Not since Nan Shepherd have the Cairngorms been so well documented in all their glory. Haha stand fast Muriel Grey! But genuinely awesome content.
Fantastic challenge Murray, beautiful scenery and amazing views. well presented again. i enjoy you videos 👍🏻👏🏻
Wow, Murray! A feature length epic! Thanks for uploading. Be good to see a debrief video or two on this of gear carried, food, outtakes (maybe) - although I know you're not into that sort of stuff. Cheers. 🏴🏔👍
Hi - I usually dont do too many "review" style videos - however... I have had loads of requests for this recently so I am away to see if I can do a video on the gear from this trip today and it might be up on Wednesday (if I can get the editing done in time :))

Inspirational stuff. Again. Long may you keep these videos coming. Thank you for sharing.
Cracking watch that one, had to do it over two days. You've done a cracking job showing some of the lesser known areas of Scotland on your way home
Fantastic video as always Murray. Was only just recently I was checking possible routes from Aviemore, over Cairngorm & Ben Macdui to the Linn of Dee then up Deeside to Aberdeen.
Hi Murry, Really enjoyed the long multi day trip with some really spectacular glens and mountains!
Thanks Mike 🙏
Left this until Sunday to enjoy. Awesome. Great work Murray. What an adventure.

Just brilliant and so much of it familiar territory. I really enjoyed doing that route with you vicariously.
Wow you certainly put the graft in for this hike and rewarded us with the those fabulous scenic spots and yourself with the solitude which is so important today.
Great adventure!
Hats off Murray for completing this epic journey and sharing your experience. I don"t think you are a gram counter which makes this journey more impressive. You surpassed the bloke who did a half marathon with a fridge on his back. Love the vids and keep them coming.
❤well done 👏
Heyup Muzza 💥
You're a legend film maker in our hemisphere. Great stuff👍 When will the BBC Scotland email you???
@11.12 was that the whirlpool of Dee?😂
... sorry, but an open goal is an open goal etc😊. I could hear the chorus of angels when you opened the box of fish and chips..💥👍
Epic Murray , looked a tough one at times . Good to see some familiar areas I’ve been through myself. I know Dunkeld very well, I’ve stayed there many times as I actually fish the Tay at Murthly. I bet that fish supper was great after eating camping food for a couple of days . Sore one with the ankle near the end , glad you it didn’t hamper you too much mate .. Excellent.. cheers Stevie
Absolutely magnificent, Murray. I so enjoyed this long video. Following on from my previous comment, you clearly have a second mid-layer also yellow in colour, with a different brand name. I like your colourful choice in outdoor clothing, which is better than the usual black or grey. In just over a fortnight's time I'm heading up to Scotland with my walking group. I shall be spending a week staying at Appin Holiday Homes (a caravan site on the shores of Loch Creran about 20 miles from Oban. After that I'll be travelling further north to Torridon staying with a couple of other walking club friends in rented accommodation. I cant't wait !!! Thank you again for your wonderful video, which I didn't find too long. Plenty of food for thought in terms of ideas for future adventures 😀👍
Hi Chris - hope the weather shines for your trip to Scotland in a few weeks :)

As always, another stunning video, although that bog looked hideous. Walked up the same route from Aviemore in March - glorious views and forests. Thanks.👍
Thanks Murray. Another cracking long walk. I enjoyed every minute of it sitting here in Sydney. As usual brought back lots of memories of my Scottish hillwalking days 40+ years ago now.
WoW fantastic, congratulations for the trip, filming and adventure ☺👍💪👏🙏
Beautiful 😍 an my favorite music in the background Murray...your phenomenal as always! 🎉
I mentioned your channel on the LiveStormsMedia channel the other day with regards to your great vid of the Aurora Borealis a few weeks ago. Heavens, train journey, too, this time. What an adventure. Thank you as always, Murray, and blessings to you.

Brilliant stuff Murray... what a trip! Hoping to get up to the Cairngorms in a few weeks after a long absence and this has reminded me what I've been missing.
Absolutely brilliant, joined up a lot of routes I've been on. Great idea and fantastic video. Throughly enjoyed it
Thoroughly enjoyed that, thanks so much for a fantastic video!👍
A great adventure for you, and a great watch for all of us, so many thanks.
When I'm up and down the A9 I just tend to visit the cafe at Dunkeld station. I'd no idea of the lovely walks nearby, so next time I'll have a wee explore.
Loved that Murray. Brilliant video, watched that over two nights really enjoyed it.Some amount of ground covered you must have been shattered after that one. Looking forward to next weeks as always.

Awesome video. A morning well spent watching this. Well done 👏
What a wonderful adventure! I love the video and admire all the effort you put in. I was also very happy to recognise a few places I've been to :) Amazing :)
Brilliant video Murray. Really enjoyed it and thanks for sharing it with everyone. 😊
What’s funny to me is that I have never slept in a tent in my life and don’t intend to, yet I select the ‘Rain on a Tent’ sound on my sleep app to drift off to. So soothing (when in dry and comfortable bed) 😂
Where you camped in the Lairig Ghru was roughly where I got stuck in unexpected snow one November and nearly froze, then had to try and make it over the snow-covered boulders into Aviemore the next day. You're right... the camera simply doesn't capture it! 🙂
Hi Murray apologies for taking my time to view , what an epic traverse so enjoyed your narrative and many thanks for sharing not only your enjoyment of the rugged terrain but also the highs and lows that must be endured during any epic journey …. Was it a white tailed eagle or the even rarer eagle owl
I would be intrigued to know pal … anyway catch you again sometime kr Stephen
Great video Murray, enjoyed the gradual change to the landscape as you ventured on.
Another top video, great route and love the contrast in scenery and topography as you make your way south. No mean achievement that, fair play to you.
Like many others here in the comments I also love the longer form videos Murray, more please mate!
Wonderful film Murray. One of your best I think. The long format works so well for that type of adventure.
Thanks for posting and inspiring.

Quality Murray! Love the big walk format, great stuff!
I've been waiting for a day where I could sit and watch and do this video justice. Have to say this is outstanding. Beautiful video and trail, thank you for the peek into places I've never seen. Stunning ❤
A pair of sea eagles are now breeding in the Cairngorms, near the Marr Lodge. They would use a massive area to hunt. Nice sighting ! 😊
A fantastic effort Murray, an enjoyable slog by the look of it. The longer the video the better for me, just like a Hollywood blockbuster
Thanks Harry - I get worried the longer videos will be a but too long so glad you enjoyed it - if I had more time I would certainly do more longer ones :)

38:00 Easter Sunday I took myself up an oft overlooked hill near Fyrish , a great viewpoint and dead quiet for an overnighter . Very windy , then very wet though . (So the vlog isn't the greatest and most interesting)
cracking video Murray...really shows the ups and downs of walking long distances...can't believe you didn't sneak in a pint at The Taybank while you were in Dunkeld like I did when I was doing some hills last week..!

Hi Murray we sat down with some tv snacks to enjoy your 5 day journey the scenery makes you proud to be a Scot we almost bought a place in Stanley Mills near Luncarty stay safe watch that ankle regards from us both
What an amazing journey, was captivated and it only felt like 20 minutes of viewing time. Great to watch, stunning scenery, mixed weather and good commentary as ever. Proves you don’t always have to go to the top of every mountain to have an adventure. Keep up the excellent work. I am cautious of cows too!
