Very surprised at how similar these two mic sound... For the biggest difference, the "talking" portion of the video clearly has a difference in the ambient sound / room sound between the two mics. I highly recommend the SHURE SM81 for everyone, especially instrumentalists getting into recording. Thanks for watching and all the support!
my client has been getting distortion/clipping sound while recording at low levels using tlm 103. it's been a week since we started experimenting and I'm starting to think he got a faulty unit.
good assesment of both those mics, and your conclusion at the end was predictable, they both both are types that you should use and own if possible. Being a amateur muscian that plays a lot of bluegrass, my preference for close micing my guitar and mandolin came from Tony Rice who mentioned that the Shure SM81 was his prefered choice on stage and in the studio.Yes I'm a gear head that can be influenced by my musical heroes😶

Well the sm81 was designed for the acoustic guitar ! and doesn't cost 2 grand !

First mic I ever owned was Shure. Can't remember the model but remember it was a dynamic. Sounded great!
