    Hey David, awesome explanation! I use Syrp along with Timelapse+ View for ramping day to night or in reverse. I show how to get that to work on my YT channel with Sony cameras.

    This is a fantastic instructional for time-lapse and I didn't even know I would be interested-I just like your direct and informative style! That Insta360 ONE X2 Pocket Camera you demonstrated at the end looks really interesting and fun.

    Great tutorial David, I mainly shoot timelapses, 8k with the Sony A7r4 & night/Astro with the A7s3.I mainly shoot in aperture priority, auto iso minimum shutter speed. Thankyou for posting.😀👍🥰

    Thanks, David. I appreciate the explanation and the information about keeping the shutter-speed, aperture and focus the same. The one problem that I've had in the past is that my battery dies, especially when I'm shooting for a couple of hours. Probably need to get a battery holder.

      Yea you would either need to get the adapter to plug your camera into the wall or external battery. Or just keep extra batteries on hand and swap them out occasionally. If you miss a frame or two while changing them, you probably won’t notice. (Note: swapping batteries only works only if using an external intervalometer! If using the one in-camera, you’ll have to start it up again after pulling the battery.)

    Great video! Personally I have used just my GoPro for time lapse. One of these days I’ll fire up my full frame pentax and at least start with it’s built in time lapse mode.

    I bought the Nikon D5600 and that is all I need to do time-lapse videos, no computer required. I just program the camera to shoot the time-lapse. When the shooting is over, the camera compiles all the images and assembles these into a full movie in-camera, no computer needed! Freaking amazing! No need to fiddle over with a bunch of desktop apps.
    And the best thing Nikon did to this 833-dollar camera is to discontinue the model. No wonder Nikon is going to the pits.

    I'd like to know how you're not constantly super anxious about having expensive gear as remote cameras? How do you secure your gear when you have it operating remotely? Do you just put it in really inaccessible places (e.g. up high, hidden, behind security/secured areas?)? I feel a little anxious when I walk around with my camera gear attached to me because I know it can be a target for opportunistic thieves, leaving my gear along for extended periods would be psychological torture for me.

    hi great stuff ! I did wonder about exposure when lighting is changing due to clouds or it gets dark do you compensate for this in post usually rather than set aperture priority so the camera is shifting iso up and down to compensate?

      @DavidBergmanPhoto 3 роки тому +1

      Yea they call that a “holy grail time lapse.” LOL. I did an video about exactly that here: ua-cam.com/video/hN_kkJCNiaU/v-deo.html

    nice tuto ! I think you didn't mention aperture and lens. I read somewhere that even if we expect some depth of field in a street or landscape... we need to use a aperture as open as possible (ie: F2.8 instead of F11) to avoid the effect of diaphragm closing and tilting the camera and to help for depth of field using a wide angle (ie: 16mm). Correct ?

    • @DavidBergmanPhoto
      @DavidBergmanPhoto 3 роки тому +1

      I’d say lens choice and aperture is really a creative decision. Just like if you were simply shooting video. You can shoot it any way you want.

      @@DavidBergmanPhoto thank you. didn't you experiment any problem when you choose F11 and timelapse toggles between its native F 1.4 aperture and the one you selected making a flicking effect.... I think I heard we need to work full open as much as possible in timelapse.

    When shooting in manual with a set exposure, how do you deal with a sequence with extreme light changes (eg. a sunrise or sunset)?
