    50 yr old carpenter here, rebar only has to be cut roughly half way through and then you can snap it, especially using the trailer frame as a cutting table like u are. Just a little time and tool saver tip! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

    I've put the blade on backward several times. I wish they put direction arrows on them. I ran a landscaping company several years ago. I never did figure out how to tell which way was the right way, so if I had a hard time making my first cut after I changed the blade blade or sharpen it. I did pay more attention to the way I pulled it off and tried to keep it oriented in that manner. You know, the outer side of the chain up when it's flat and to the right, or out, the same direction it would be if the chain were on the bar when I transported it anywhere. It worked for me. Good luck. Watching you I wish I could help, or help more.

    I'm so glad that UA-cam decided to put your start-finish foundation video in my feed earlier, I loved it and I've just finished binge-watching all your other videos. What you're doing is amazing, thanks for sharing!
    Welding seems to mostly be practice. I'm 5 weeks in to an evening course at the moment and it's amazing how much better we get each week, despite only practicing for a couple of hours. If you've got scrap metal and spare time (hah!) then just keep running beads and building your intuition for it. Perhaps a trash sculpture made from the drum lids if you don't already have plans for them?
    You seem pretty on-it with your safety but just in case you don't know already: DO NOT weld galvanised steel without grinding off the galvanising first.
    Keep up the great energy - I can't wait for the next episode!

      That’s good to know about the welding! I guess it’s the same with anything , experience is the key! Yess I’ve definitely got a lot of drum lids to work with that’s a great idea! 🙏
      And I did use a steel brush on an angle grinder on the drum before I welded it I probably should of shown that part too , thank you so much for the advice though 🙏☺️

    Well happy birthday, mines on the 19th. When it comes to gasless mig welding the go to wire is E71T-11 doesn't matter about the brand, renegade brand from tradetools is fine. It's a multi pass wire. Please DON"T use single pass gasless wire. As well with gasless welding use an "anti-spatter" spray on the gun contact tip. I'm guessing you'll be doing the welding on the container house as well? It would be good to practice every chance you get on the various thicknesses of steel that will be used in the build. And don't worry about setting yourself on fire.... We've all done it

    Loving your journey Jas. Finally got time to watch videos. Some are impressed because you are a girl doing ‘man’ work. Thats just a sexist mindset. I know how we can do anything we put our minds to. What impresses me is your determination, innovative attitude and patience. We could all learn from you no matter our age or sex.
    An amazing human 🙌🏽

    Just one thing if you need to do re-bar in the future, when I was working as a labourer, I used to use a manual re-bar bender/cutter when I was helping out, was quite easy and super quick to cut/bend with it. Check them out if you'd like

    Looking forward to pour day. I don’t really get how the concrete is going to stay in the top of the barrel pipes and not spill out over the forms from the bottom, unless you maybe stop, wait for it to dry and then fill it up if you get what I mean, does anyone know?

    First off all, 18k for sono tubes is outrageous. I'm curious what diameter the engineer calls for. Depending on the price of a cubic meter, delivery etc of concrete to fill the metal drums vs possibly an 18 inch sono tube may of been something to consider. Another product maybe you've heard of are Bigfoot plastic footings which will accommodate up 2 an 18 inch sono tube and save you from building wood footings. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

    • @Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas
      @Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas  6 місяців тому +2

      The sonotubes and oil drums were the exact same diameter that’s why I used them, and concrete delivered was very cheap 🙏
