Next time you need to drill holes in metal try using some oil on the bit. It helps to lubricate and cool the bit so it drills better and doesn't get dull as fast. They make special oil for drilling metal but you can use motor oil if you cannot get the right kind. Any oil will be better than nothing. Also the bigger the drill size you use the slower the drill speed you should use. Just a few useful tip from one who has drilled a lot of holes.
Awesome progress Jaz. Great to see the containers arrive. The gold colour drill is called a step drill. Lubrication like WD40 helps with drilling steel, also keep your drill bits sharp, can be done with a bench grinder. And mixing two stroke is best done in the jerry can before putting in the auger. Once again absolutely loving the content. Fantastic! Can't wait for the next one. Cheers, Alex.
Thank you so much for all the advice ! That’s honestly so handy and will definitely come in useful in the future , its so great being able to get advice of here 🙏
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas Yeah 100% mix 2 stroke in a fuel can... You will end up seizing your equipment mixing in the fuel tank... or on the other side blow tonnes of smoke and have a hell of a time trying to start it. Good luck your doing amazing.
Very cool project. For next time, the 3-4-5 method to establish a right angle works with any units as long as you measure all the sides using the same units. 3m-4m-5m works or 30cm-40cm-50cm or any variation.
I’ve been building stuff since I was a kid. I learnt the 3-4-5 method a few weeks ago…. Then called my dad. Told him. He’d never heard of it. Such an awesome little tip!!!

Ur doing an amazing job, jaz, but when drilling thick metal, get yourself some cutting solution or drill lube it will make it so much easier and save your drill bits
Jasmine, use a bit of oil while drilling to keep the bit cool. Also on steel plates like this use a low rpm and you will feel the bit cutting into the steel like butter. Great work again, I love the freedom you created for yourself.
Trick for digging with the auger in hard ground, dig as far as you can and then fill the hole with water. Move to the next hole and do the same thing. When you run out of holes go back to the first hole and the water should have softened the clay and you will be able to dig it some more. Keep drilling, keep adding water.
I tried to auger where the ground was soaked in the dam and same result unfortunately but I’m hoping to get the jack hammer down there and that should do the trick! Thank you so much for the advice
Utterly amazing work, I cannot imagine the effort both mental and physical! Just one item to make life easier the 3-4-5 triangle to get a right angle works with anything in ratio - 3-4-5 metres, 30-40-50 cm... take your pick. The longer the more precise tho.
And it works for multiples as well. 2x’s=6-8-10, 3x’s=9-12-15, etc. 12-16-20 15-20-25. 5-12-13 is another right triangle that would be more accurate in some situations. The bigger the better.
So cool. Tip for pouring liquids is to hold the container so the opening is at the top, yep feels weird but you won’t spill as much. Also you saw how easy the 20’ slid off the tilt tray, as a former wharfie I can tell you that containers stacked on each other slide in big winds so secure that 40’.
Thank you so much for the advice!! Yeah the container guys warned me of this too so the top one is connected with twistable locks and the bottoms level containers I’m welding to the steel plates ☺️ the guys were saying a ‘hover’ effect happens under the 40’s or something and they slide? That would be scary! Haha
So cool Jasmine! Very transformative, your vision is starting to come to life! And a new skill unlocked with drilling holes in steel, well done, fantastic work.
FYI for future measuring projects where you need the 3-4-5 method, it doesn't matter what the units are, you can use 3M, 4M, 5M. You don't have to convert to Ft.
Ha Jaz has started an interactive UA-cam channel, When you used Siri to work out how many feet to a meter, my HomePod answered the question and even replied when you said Thankyou.

Hey Jazz, the “little thing” you weren’t sure what to call it looks like a STEP BIT. At one time it probably had numbers (metric) or fractions on the side, but likely worn off now. A few more tips. Make sure you’re using a bit designed for steel, a cobalt bit. Looks like you’ve already seen the tips to use oil to cool the bit. Last tip I have is they have cheap hand sharpeners for bits that work ok. They help keep an edge on your bit. I wasn’t paying close attention, but are you using a smaller bit to start your hole? Or is that what you were using the step bit for? A regular bit might give it more to bite into.
Amazing what you have achieved by yourself, nice to see your dream coming through.getting closer and closer.glad to see the containers arrived.impressive,impressive.just keep doing what you do best.😎😎😎👍👍👍
May be hard work but the satisfaction and confidence you get when you build shit yourself is every bit as good as it gets. You put the majority of the population to shame. Great job and very professional. Cheers
Doing well and I'm happy to see the containers arrived safely. For me if there is one piece of building equipment I really hate it's something that is powered by a temperamental 2 stroke engine and that Auger post hole digger would drive me nuts not starting when I want it to. I hope your arms are not too badly stretched after digging more holes.
Well done!!! Your patience and determination are inspiring!! Don’t forget to leave time to just appreciate what you’ve accomplished so far! Also your brain is chucking out the info it’s learnt once you’ve used it to make room for the next thing, it’s what happens when you are tackling many new tasks at once or close together which is why you sometimes have to go back and relearn it the next time you need it, mine does the same 🤪
Thank you so much! I’m honestly so proud of getting to this point and I can’t wait for what’s next! 😂 wow that honestly makes so much sense I am learning things at an alarming rate , our poor brains! 😂

You're doing just fine without my two cents.. but, when working with timber, the standard lengths are at 600mm intervals. 1200mm,1800mm, 2400mm, 3m for example. Might be helpful next time you build a jetty. 😊👍 ..You're doing way better than fine.

Hey, the old 3-4-5 can be worked in any form from 3 boots 4 boots 5 boots too 3 snakes 4 snakes 5 snakes as long its the same measurement system. metric, imperial doesn't matter. could use beer bottles as a scale or a shovel handle.
the 3.4.5 method works with any type of measuring system. ft meters bananas as long as you use the same on all 3 sides. you can even multiply the numbers for bigger areas like 9,12,20 always works
Just wow superwoman ❤. This is the first video I've watched of yours so im sorry if this has already been discussed but i saw a video recently about using pigs to seal dams.

Might be a bit late for this advice but it would have been well worth hiring a magnetic drill with the appropriate size rotor broach cutter and drilling lubricant like rocol to do those plates. Probably would have taken about 1/2 an hour to do all the holes!
Ust to watch life uncontained. But the chomp on other projects finally made me leave. So now youtube showed me your channel. And this is a rainbow of joy to watch. Subscribing... Hello from the U.K
oooo those 55 gallon drum halves, gonna be handy down the road :)...I like that you used those vs. cardboard cylinder forms (i used those for so many projects) , much nicer look you achieved with the drums and the leftovers are usable
Omg, the auger not starting, I can relate. Rented from Bunnings and it died with 3 holes left I have dealt with issues on mowers lawn trimmers etc. But 2hrs and a video call with relative who is a heavy duty mechanic still couldnt get it started.
Jumping around and I finally found your 2nd video I think.. Awesome work Jasmine ! Fail, Try, and Try again is Winning. I finally finished restumping btw and new floors are down for me. Can't wait to play catch up and watch more of you killing it mate. Yahoooo...

Awesome happy for you. and for future drilling, if you drill slower it helps keep bit from burning out, stays sharper longer , and always better to use a smaller bit and work up to size😏

Amazing what you have achieved by yourself, nice to see your dream coming through.getting closer and closer.glad to see the containers arrived.impressive,impressive.just keep doing what you do best.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Thank you so much I appreciate it! I’m honestly so stoked at what I’ve been able to achieve it’s so good to look at those containers 😍🙏
May be hard work but the satisfaction and confidence you get when you build shit yourself is every bit as good as it gets. You put the majority of the population to shame. Great job and very professional. Cheers
It’s honestly the best feeling, I’ll never be able to stop now haha, thank you so much I really appreciate it ☺️
Doing well and I'm happy to see the containers arrived safely. For me if there is one piece of building equipment I really hate it's something that is powered by a temperamental 2 stroke engine and that Auger post hole digger would drive me nuts not starting when I want it to. I hope your arms are not too badly stretched after digging more holes.
Yeah I honestly feel the same! It’s definitely caused me more trouble than anything and my arms are alright but I’m back to hand digging 😂
😂 the little guy is called a cone cutter or step drill. Good work Jasmin you are smashing it.
Thanks so much! It feels like it now!
Hi Jaz I reckon you'll start a new trend. All the labourers will have steel capped ugg boots on now 😀 seriously I love the just keep moving forward vibe
😂😂😂 I love this! It should definitely be a thing! And thank you 🙏
Beautiful property Jasmin
Thank you so much!
I'm so glad to have found your series because I'm doing the same thing with 2 x 20ft containers in South QLD, but just one step behind (concrete pour). Seeing you so energetic and charging through despite the found mistakes, worries and hard work is really inspiring and motivating for me :) So keen to get this container I'm living in craned onto the piers. Thanks Jasmine!
Oh wow thank you so much for sharing your story! That’s so exciting ! And it’s so bloody rewarding hey! I wish you all the best for your exciting journey ☺️🙏
Well done Jaz. It truly blows my mind what you do. 👏👏👏👏❤️
Thank you so much I really appreciate it, it’s been such a challenge but I’m so glad I decided to do it! ☺️
Awesome job young lady, you are crushing it.
Love the posts and your enthusiasm.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it
Great video Jasmin
Thank you so much
Worked in a shop for years and years and there were times when I'm like why is this bit so dull. Yup in reverse. Good on ya, quite ambitious young lady your quite the worker. Good luck on your homestead.
😂😂 I’m so glad I’m not the only one! Thank you so much I appreciate it 🙏
You're doing just fine without my two cents.. but, when working with timber, the standard lengths are at 600mm intervals. 1200mm,1800mm, 2400mm, 3m for example. Might be helpful next time you build a jetty.
😊👍
..You're doing way better than fine.
Thank you so very much I always welcome advice , experience is invaluable so I love to hear from people who have it ☺️
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas 👍 Awesome land, awesome adventure. Just found you and loving it. West Aussie bush lover too. We are so lucky. Subbed and hooked.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it and I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos! Yeah it’s honestly so gorgeous and peaceful hey 🙏
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas Flooring Experience here. Not sure what Flooring you are looking for to put in different areas of your Containers when it comes time. happy to help out when the time comes
Jasmin, I've said before " am in ore of you" your just amazing and so look forward to the next video. What you have done so far is unbelievable 😊. Your subs will grow and grow. 😊
Thank you so very much I’m honestly so grateful it’s been such an amazing journey and it’s even better now I get to share it with everyone here ☺️
I'm watching your subscriber count climb pretty rapidly! Congrats. You are pretty much building the exact plan I day dream about, even the containers are in the same configuration! So its safe to say I'll be checking in to see how it all goes.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it, and it’s a pretty good way to go I think should be a decent amount of space!
Girl I laughed at the reverse drill!! I've done that too many times to count!! 😂
haha I'm so glad it's not just me then!
Amazing what you have done by yourself. Congratulations, God bless!
Thank you so much 🙏
Jasmine, the bit you called a little guy is called a step bit or unibit. Keep up the good work and I love your personality 👍
Thank you so much so good to know! And thanks I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos ☺️
OMG! Jas you’re a pure energy force girl!👊😮❤
Aw thank you so much ☺️💪
Hey, the old 3-4-5 can be worked in any form from 3 boots 4 boots 5 boots too 3 snakes 4 snakes 5 snakes as long its the same measurement system. metric, imperial doesn't matter. could use beer bottles as a scale or a shovel handle.
Thank you so much that’s great to know !
the 3.4.5 method works with any type of measuring system. ft meters bananas as long as you use the same on all 3 sides. you can even multiply the numbers for bigger areas like 9,12,20 always works
Oh that’s so good to know thank you !
Go Jasmine..Bloody legend.
Thank you so much!
AMAZING 👏🏾 I love this and I too am doing the journey alone.
That’s incredible! I wish you all the best with yours ☺️🙏
You are so cool and amazing congratulations and blessings in everything that you touch and everything that you do keep it up.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it! The journey is getting so exciting now ☺️
Just wow superwoman ❤. This is the first video I've watched of yours so im sorry if this has already been discussed but i saw a video recently about using pigs to seal dams.
Hello! Welcome to the journey so excited to share it with you, the dam is sealed now and completely full ☺️🙏
I just came across your channel and have watched most of your videos already. Great work Jas! I look forward to watching the rest of your build with interest 👍
Thank you so much I’m so glad you are enjoying them! Can’t wait to share more with you 🙏
You're amazing I love your energy you have done so much work 😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much, it feels pretty good to get to this stage ☺️
Go girl, you are one determined young woman, very impressive. Beautiful property ... i have no idea what you are doing with the dam haha, lookinjg forward to you shaping your new house .... thanks for the journey, gb,nz
Thank you so very much! It’s my pleasure to share it and I can’t wait for the next stages ☺️🙌
Loving the progress! Stoked for you! 🤙
Thank you so much it’s a great feeling to get to this stage
Might be a bit late for this advice but it would have been well worth hiring a magnetic drill with the appropriate size rotor broach cutter and drilling lubricant like rocol to do those plates. Probably would have taken about 1/2 an hour to do all the holes!
Thank you! 🙏
I approve of the container colors 🇺🇸 🇦🇺
😂🙏🙏 complete accident but works well!
There are simply no words, Jas. 🤯
Thank you so much! It’s the best feeling 🙏
Very happy your containers are in and it’s all coming along well 👍
Thank you so much I’m so excited about the next stage ☺️🙏
I’ve been following you on IG and just started watching your videos here.
This is such a great milestone, well done!!!
Loving the jetty idea too!
Thank you for being here ! I hope you’re enjoying the videos ☺️
Ust to watch life uncontained. But the chomp on other projects finally made me leave.
So now youtube showed me your channel. And this is a rainbow of joy to watch. Subscribing...
Hello from the U.K
Thank you so much I really appreciate that! I do my best to bring value! I can’t wait to share the rest of the journey with you 🙏
Wow well done girl you’re smashing it I taught I was the only person who works this crazy keep it up your earning the rewards you deserve
😂 nah I’m the same , the only way I know how! Thank you so much it feels like it!
Amazing work! I’m loving this project! Incidently… the 3/4/5 method works in metres too!!
Thank you so much ☺️
oooo those 55 gallon drum halves, gonna be handy down the road :)...I like that you used those vs. cardboard cylinder forms (i used those for so many projects) , much nicer look you achieved with the drums and the leftovers are usable
Yess and I was quoted over 18k for the cardboard sonotubes and that was without delivery and the drums only cost me $100 bucks so big savings 🙌🙌
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Omg, the auger not starting, I can relate. Rented from Bunnings and it died with 3 holes left I have dealt with issues on mowers lawn trimmers etc. But 2hrs and a video call with relative who is a heavy duty mechanic still couldnt get it started.
Omg they are the worst hey! Honestly i don’t know why I grabbed the auger to do the jack hammers job 😂
Always use oil when drilling into metal. It keeps from burning up all the bits.
Thank you so much
Nice!
Thank you!
U got to be happy with that! Well done brilliant!
So stoked ! Thank you ☺️
Jumping around and I finally found your 2nd video I think.. Awesome work Jasmine ! Fail, Try, and Try again is Winning. I finally finished restumping btw and new floors are down for me. Can't wait to play catch up and watch more of you killing it mate. Yahoooo...
Thank you so much! And that’s so exciting for you ☺️💪
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas That's so lovely for you to say. Thank you Jas, so excited for you too. Sending Love and Light mate.
Love your content! So inspiring and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out!
Thank you so much I can’t wait to share more
I'm not a big fan of them hand held post hole diggers. Had a run in with one before I bought a post hole digger for my tractor. The containers are looking great, cant wait too see what you do with them. Its early Sunday morning here ,now its time to work on my pond again.
Yeah I’m not a fan either and they don’t work well unless it’s ideal soil! Thank you so much and good luck with your pond! I hope it’s going well!
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas So far so good just alot of dirt to move, maybe Ill post a short video after.
Yes 🙌
Awesome progress looks great ❤
Thank you so much it’s very exciting 🥰🙏
So awesome you have finaly got the containerts
I know it’s definitely an exciting stage 😍🙏
Awesome happy for you. and for future drilling, if you drill slower it helps keep bit from burning out, stays sharper longer , and always better to use a smaller bit and work up to size😏
Thank you so much!
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas you are amazing. You're doing what I'd like to do one day. Not so much containers, but, to build a house for myself. Watching you makes me want to be there helping ☺️
Hi you will be doing a fair bit of drilling to get built. Just a little tip. Try a step bit. They are not cheap but they are easy to use and don’t grab
That’s what I used ☺️
Incredible Lady 👍
Thank you so much 🙏
I’m am in serious AWE of you girl 🤘 I’m so invested in your journey you’re such a badass😎and it feels weird to say you inspire me to tackle any DIY project now no matter the size 🎉
Thank you so much! That’s so lovely to hear! And honestly I knew nothing about year ago if I can do it so can you 🥰🙏
Wow! You have done such an amazing job to get to the containers being onsite. Loving your videos. 😀
Thank you! I’m honestly still in shock they are here and that I got them here 😍 thank you so much!
I do hope yup feel amazing, cos that’s what you are girl. 👩🔧🇬🇧
Thank you so much! I really do! 🙏
