Wow….what a haul….so many great products….that Caran d’Ache pencil sharpener was really something. With all you spent, I’m not surprised they gave you such a great goody bag.👍😊

Sooo, basically, you got all I want to get myself! I've been wanting that sharpener for a while, it is quite an investment, but so lovely. I have a cheaper plastic one that is just marvelous, as well, however I still secretly hope for the Caran d'Ache one. Also, I must try the Neopastels and I'm almost out of Blackwings

Hi, what can I say, great minds? Just finished a pastel works and do not regret my ‘investment’ at all. Saved time and my sanity! The neopastels are fun there’s this weird giddiness they bring out in me when I use them. Thanks for watching.

The pencil sharpener looks like the ones we had in primary school. One job in the classroom was sharpening all the pencils for the next day. They sharpened so well! They had some sort of grinder inside that would spin rather than a blade.

Thanks for watching, the only time I remember them is at art school but it was always broken as the fine arts student always got ‘creative’ with what they stuck in there. 🤪

Yep I love the smell too, it how I can tell different types of pencils apart without looking for instance, caran d’ache pastel pencils smell completely different form the luminance and Derwent.

All broken tips but sharpen beautifully with the sharpener! But I do wonder if the entire length of colour is broken too. I did contact cass art and they were kind enough to give me 25% back on that item. Thanks for watching, is there any thing in particular you want to see in more detail?

The clairefontaine paper - the 90 is the paper weight so g/gsm, or 41 pounds as someone said - slightly thicker than standard printer paper. It’s stapled at the top but it used to be perforated as well so you could easily pull pages off, I don’t know if that’s changed or not. Not had these pads for a long time but did use to enjoy them for sketching :) the pencil sharpener brings back memories of elementary school! Looking forward to seeing the videos borne of this haul!

@@studio.spirit The Kuretake Gansai Tambi! Really curious to see an (a bit more) indepth review of them, there's not all that many videos around on youtube that I've found, especially around the new color palette that was released. I really can't figure out if they are a a semi professional watercolor or if they are more on par with curated palettes that are aimed at crafters such as Prima Marketing. Also would like to see your learning curve with the oil pastels :)

I must be the only professional painter in the world besides my mentor that uses the cheapest brushes I can get from the lumber yard / hardware store. It takes an awfully shift brush to glass vanish wood, and the brushes are extremely inexpensive and last. If they don't who cares, they are inexpensive enough to chuck.
I also love inexpensive brushes because I can customize specialty brushes as I need them. I'll buy the packs of 50 for $1.00 at the department store then shape as I need. Screw spending all that money. I also got the exact same grinder long lead sharpener. I got mine from Walmart for $3.00 about 15 years ago. However mine doesn't have caran d`ache printed on it.

So far that I have found in the UK cheap brushes, retain brush strokes feel like they are made of straw and it is a false economy The Princeton bushes that I buy aren’t as expensive as what you think for some reason in the UK professional brushes are cheaper than in the states, especially when you get them in the sale. It’s the same thing with canvass too, for some reason, we get them cheaper a lot cheaper. But paints are more expensive. As for the sharpener it is expensive, but I don’t regret it. It has saved a lot of my pastel pencils for any other type a pencil, Yeah sure a cheap sharpener would’ve done but not for the very expensive pastel pencils.thanks for watching.

Been trying that and it works with Faber Castell pastel pencils and the Derwent’s but not the caran d’ache. Might be because they have a hexagonal shape.

I notice you said you wanted to try oil pastels, I highly recommend Amy at WinterWoodsStudio here on UA-cam, she's a pretty new channel (January 2023) and is exploring different art mediums including oil pastels... her videos are very relaxing to watch but informative too. Just discovered your channel this evening so definitely subscribing.
