Ditto, I love DS Lapis Lazuli, too! Great for skies, windows, waters, mixing with intense colors to make them a little more realistic. Can't wait to see what Natasha does with it. The Michael Harding watercolors look lovely as well.
I always have a smile on my face when something pops up from you! I appreciate your time, and love to watch your vidios! I never want you to worry about making vidios vs living a wonderful life! Art and life first! I appreciate you! Having.a happy life trends into your art!
Really enjoyable video Natasha! I actually enjoyed this little different angle and format from you. That wooden table surface is so gorgeous! As always really enjoyable colour selection, I love spruce green a lot as well. :) All the best to you in Suffolk!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it, Kriksis! I listened to your new video while getting ready this morning (it was so calming), but I want to watch again later when I can concentrate on it and enjoy it fully! x
I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for the videos you upload here - I haven’t been a subscriber for very long, but found your channel in the past half a year or so thanks to the algorithm! Recently I’ve been working my way through all of the content on your channel because I find your process videos and swatching content extremely soothing. Your voice and calm composure is very comforting - and of course your art is so incredibly beautiful! While I’m painting I’ll have your videos playing beside me and I find it very encouraging. I struggle a lot because I have anxiety and tend to think what I’m creating is never very good, but you’ve helped bring the fun back to the process and for that I can’t thank you enough! The videos you make are so informative and inspiring and I hope to see them for many years to come! 🤍
This is such an amazing comment, thank you! You've really made my day. :) As for your artwork, just keep going and believe in yourself (don't let those horrible negative thoughts take over - you have to learn to ignore them to a certain extent!). Thank you again for your kind words. x
A really enjoyable video! 😊 That’s a rather fetching clipboard, which is something that I didn’t expect to be saying to you this morning! 😁 I did not know that TK Maxx was such a good place for an art supplies bargain! I hope your Mum didn’t mind about the scissors! Give your Mum and the cats a hug from me, and thank you for a lovely start to my day! 😊🎨💖😘 xxx
Ha ha, mum says I look like a market stall inspector with my clipboard! 😂 Thank you, I've passed on your hug (I'm not sure how receptive Ruby will be though). 😂 Hugs back! 😊💖😘 xxx
Very fun casual check in! Love the pencil colours...and the lapis lazuli. I don't always get a chance to watch things as they are posted but I do love catching up when the opportunity presents itself.
Thank you for this surprise video. I loved this informal art haul & swatching. You are a delight to watch. Your color choices in pencils & watercolor are always so appealing & I have bought so many of the items you swatch for us.
I really admire the greys in the lightfast range, it seems like a well thought out selection of hues they've put together. I have found Faber-Castell Pitt Artist pens and Talens Ecoline brush pens quite often in TK Maxx before. On my latest visit there weren't any pens or paints that caught my eye, but I did pick up a Seawhite of Brighton Watercolour pad and a Frisk Marker pad for bargain prices!
Morning Natasha, I'm in Suffolk too! Little market town called Stowmarket x I love the look of the pro arte miniature brushes and the Betty ones x love Alli and Bella x Bella is my bestie Chihuahua xxx
Ahhh, it's so lovely to hear your wonderful voice again, Natasha! 🧡 What a fun video!!!! Always love to watch you swatching new colours, and these seem so perfect for your artwork!!! I'm now wishing for some Betty Hayways brushes 🙏 Have a terrific time with your Mum and I do hope you can work in a Sunday lunch at the newly found pub!!! All the best to you both and the kitties!!! 🐈🦋🐾🐾
Lovely, as always. Your super casual style is quite enjoyable- kind of like how we all talk to ours selves in our minds, or out loud if no one else is around. 😂 I wish Wallace Seymour watercolors were easily accessible in the US. Thanks for sharing😘
Lovely haul Natasha and lovely to see you on a video again. Have been watching some of your other videos and you say it’s your birthday at the end of May so just wanted to wish you a very happy birthday and hope you get some lovely art gifts. It’s my birthday on Saturday and I am hoping for some Holbein watercolours x
Hope your having a wonderful time with your mom, the video was lovely as always. Polished or not, for me it’s the company and the conversation, thanks for sharing my art friend🥰. Those Derwent pencils are gorgeous by the way. 🤗
Loved this video Natasha! I really enjoyed the casual vibe. Your Suffolk videos are some of my favourites. Enjoy the rest of your time with your mom, and thank you for the video 😊
🎉 Enjoyed this video immensely! It’s been a while and I have missed your relaxing swatch sessions. Can’t wait for a studio blog…to see what you have been working on these days.
Thank you, Thea! I keep filming for more of a vlog-style video, but haven't had the time to put it together yet (they always take much longer to film and edit!).
Ages ago i saw a Daniel Smith video and they said genuine lapis is so expensive they made their paint very dilute to be able to sell it at an affordable price. They added it to their colours to offer the genuine lapis lasuli to artists in some form. Thank you for showing it.
If anyone is looking for a strong lapis lazuli Michael Harding has a pretty good strong one, I've seen an artist swatch it and for a while I mistook it for an ultramarine 😅 I still enjoyed this video even though the setup is a little different, as long as the video has beautiful colors and your calming voice that's all I need 😊
I'm with Maria C! You do have a great informal style, Natasha! Love this video. ❤ I'm sure it's a whole lot easier as far as production too! I'm so excited about the Wallace Seymour Watercolor that the patrons will receive this May!! Yippee! I'm definitely going to try ebay for thise paints. Being in the US has made it difficult to impossible to get my hands on this brand. Thanks for the tip! 😊
Hi from very chilly Rendlesham 👋🏻 I hope your dental and optical work wasn’t too awful! I had a crown fitted earlier this year and parts of that weren’t pleasant at all!
Hello there! My dentist is in Rendlesham!! The eye test was fine in the end, although I need a different prescription so I've chosen some new glasses (just waiting for them at the moment), and the dental appointments were surprisingly ok too, as my dentist is fantastic. I'm sorry to hear that you had a difficult time with your crown. I always get so nervous before any dental appointment!
@@NatashaNewtonArt I’m glad it was all okay! Funny yours is in Rendlesham 😁 my dentist (Wickham Mkt) is good but not good with anxious patients - he’s very task oriented and forgets you are a person. Add to that having CFS which amplifies the impact of everything! However, these days I’m grateful just to have a dentist - can’t imagine what I’d have done otherwise!
@@smallofferings Dominic has CFS and has recently had quite a bit of dental treatment too, and he said exactly the same thing. It can sometimes take days or even weeks to recover from something like that. I know what you mean about being grateful to have a dentist - I'm so thankful for mine!
Morning! I like the “half hazard” video format! I think we get to see a bit more of your personality on that ☺ I thought I was the only one prone to rambling 🤔😅
Me, too! I bought the full set and they finally arrived here in South Australia this week! Betty Hayways should be providing Natasha with a life supply of brushes as she is such an amazing ambassador for their brand! I bought my set because of Natasha’s recommendation ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Natasha, I watch all your videos and the short ones too. I am interested in the brushes you use… the ones name I don’t know but starts with Betty? If you can share that with all of us? I think you use those brushes the most as I see you use them all the time. They have a pink hue at the base? Anyway, thank you for your lovely talks!
Hi Natasha. I am working my way through all your videos. Thank you. I’d love your advice on what colours to choose for a beginner’s set please. There are too many to choose from and I don’t know where to start! I’m leaning towards pans rather than tubes. Also what is your opinion on professional vs artists quality? ❤
It's definitely worth buying just a few (tubes or pans) of artists' quality paint. All you need to start are a warm and cool red, warm and cool yellow, warm and cool blue. Daniel Smith does a nice little set of tubes featuring these colours. You can mix so many colours with just these!
I really like your Suffolk videos. You seem happy and relaxed, even though you've been busy. Lovely colours! And a house isn't a home without cat hairs everywhere 😂
I use the Chestnut a lot but I love the look of the Raisin so I’m going to put it on my list! In case no one else replies about the pronunciation of lazuli, you pronounce it ‘laz you lie’. Lovely video!x
Lapislazuli has always been a very expensive color because of the raw material. Russia and Afghanistan are both not without ethical concerns and since Afghanistan has been a conflict area, lapislazuli, which has always been on the expensive side of colors, didn't exactly make it cheaper. Back in the days it was the color of kings, because as a mineral compound it stands the test of time, is a deep blue and because it came from far away beyond the sea hence the name ultramarine blue, which was the main ingredient before ultramarine hues made the color know as ultramarine blue one of the cheaper colors. But the lapislazuli pigment is still very precious. Kremer offers 10g for 250 €. Which is why the watercolor isn't packed with the pigment as other colors are. It is still the color of the rich and wealthy.
Thanks! I always look forward to your paint choices; they are very unique and different to everyone else’s so it gives me something different to watch. 😊
Definitely not rich! I think it's a question of priorities; some people spend a lot of their disposable income on expensive holidays, eating out, drinking, smoking, buying lots of clothes, designer bags etc, whereas I buy art supplies. Also, it's my job! (And my passion). It's how I make my living, so I see it as an investment in my career/business.
Lovely colours🩵I love light ultramarine skies. the unusual camera angle or any rambling never bothers me but I have such a hard time seeing watercolour brush abuse🫣they’re not meant to rest in the water jar losing their points, but that’s just me
I absolutely love this more casual style! You have such a wonderful sense of humor and great communication style. Thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you.
Aw, thank you so much Maria!
I agree. I loved it as well ❤
I love the DS Lapis Lazuli. 😊 Very beautiful greyish blue 💙

Aw, that's lovely but I'm sorry that you've had a bad day - I hope it improves soon and that you enjoy the chatty video. x
Please keep being YOU and making videos that are fun, authentic- if it’s you then it’s good!

OMG that Burnt Umber Extra Dark! And I love Lapis Lazuli for the same exact reason you do. It's perfect for those skies.
Those colours are beautiful 💖💖💖
