    I can totally relate to the idea of re-discovering each other. My husband and I have been married for 27 years and all of our camping trips were with our girls. Now we go out and it’s just the two of us and we enjoy each other‘s company so much! There is a complete shift when we are alone versus when we go out with other people also.

    That's so funny about the Oldsmobile Cutless. My dad was the same way. We had a car repair shop and owned lots of cars but when I turned 16 my dad bought me a 72 Olds Cutless Supreme. Hated it at first but looking back I have so many fond memories with that car.

    Regina... don't remember what year your Jeep is, but it might be that you have auto up. Apologies if this doesn't work.
    Start with the window up. Hold the button for down until it hits bottom. Keep the button down for 3 seconds. Then, hold the button up till it reach's the top and continue to hold it for 3 seconds.
    If this is a function that your Jeep has, you'll get both your auto down and auto up back. :-)

  • @timd791
    @timd791 3 роки тому +1

    hi - an Auto engineer here - the reason why you have to keep hold of the windows on the close is safety - when your kid starts screaming, because their fingers are in the window shut, you'll let go of the switch!

    • @regenakowitz
      @regenakowitz 3 роки тому

      Totally understand, but it's interesting that my husband's newer Ram truck does have the auto-up feature. And since my kids are 25, 22, and 22...if they get their fingers stuck in the windows of my two-door Jeep, we have bigger problems than the switch! 😂

    My wife and I have always off roaded since the 80s when we where stationed at Ft. Bliss. After our children grew up and went out on their own we gravitated towards motorcycles, in 2014 we ended up fostering two girls we latter adopted. Now we are back with 2 Jeeps "overlanding " has been a great experience and your channel has helped with many things we have decided to do. Glad ya'll are able to be together overlanding can't wait to watch videos of your adventures.

    Brad and Regina,
    I spent 12 years in the marines with tanks. My favorite duty station was the Combat Center at 29 Palms as Im a desert rat at heart, served in desert shield/storm.
    I have been a 4 wheeler for many years and spent a lot of time in the Death Valley/ Panamints mountain range. I run a 1955 M38A1 that was also a vet from the combat center. Every where I go , I tow a 1952 M100 trailer.
    We like you , run trails that last for days and always camped on the trail and break camp in the morning and hit it again, now known as overlanding.
    I am basically a camp cookie and love to cook in the woods, by trade im a mechanic,
    My question is with all the time you spend on the trail wheeling and camping, my best piece of cooking gear is my 12” cast iron Dutch oven. I prepare meals in it, bake cobbler in it, cakes in it, I have made coffee cake in it to go with the morning cup of Joe. Why don’t you use one? One pot meals make for easier prep, and serving, and certainly less clean up.
    I was really surprised with all of the videos I have watched of yours that I have never seen anyone use one.
    You and Marco make some fantastic meals on the trail. I think the Dutch oven could simplify your prep and cooking.. I also know that everything I have cooked in the Dutch oven has been enjoyed by all.
    They also have aluminum Dutch ovens now if you are concerned with weight.
    Great videos, keep up the great work chief.

    Thanks for answering! I hope it wasn’t taken the wrong way like it was a rash decision.
    Brad going from 26 years in the Navy to, in 2 years, making a living doing something that’s possibly still new territory in some aspects, I thought it might have been the subject of a family pow wow.😁 We have those from time to time with our ventures. Seeing such a dedicated veteran spouse support her man like she does…so refreshing. Hats off to the relationship and dedication you clearly provide the other. You two make a great team. 26 years with deployments definitely tests the limits. From one vet to a couple others, thank you for what you’ve done to support the ranks. May you continually be blessed. See you on the trail. Scouts Out!

    One thing I do to deal with the miles is leave the rig at airports and fly home and back. Make one trip two trips.
    I have a few rigs like you and have outfitted my van to park well at airports for weeks or even months at a time.
    It is anywhere from $70-$150 a month to store. I have parked at ParkDIA in Denver and off site storage at salt lake.

    Anza was my first overlanding trip too! took my 17 Ram Rebel. ended up wrecking it at devils drop off. came back later that year in a 2020 gladiator and it handled everything amazing. since then I've been to New Mexico, Arizona all over California, currently going all over the east coast like Rausch creek, AOAA & Peters mill. I have to say you and lite brite have been my biggest inspirations for going out there and getting it since I got out of the Marine corps also for buying my gladiator in the first place! I can only hope to do HALF the adventures you guys have been on!

    Anza Borrego got me too!! My two kids and I slept with our backs against the tent wall holding it up, the tent was tied down to the Jeep and dirt. The wind was so bad that it snapped one of the poles (metal) and ripped a side of the tent wall. Just flattened the tent. Throughout out the night, we made some emergency repairs till we just accepted the loss. Kids have PTSD and I am still looking for a good wind-resistant tent. We still want to go back, we threw away the torn and broken tent at the visitor center trash can. Pack in pack out! The Stars were amazing!!!

    Brad and Regina, loved this vid. I retired 6 years ago and my wife and I made a promise to visit every National Park in the contiguous US, Spoiler Alert, there’s a LOT of them 🤪. 19 down so far and we are just about to get into some overlanding and combine that with our existing goal. Your video content has helped me terrifically and now my wife has someone she can relate to in Regina, every time the discussion of camping comes up my wife always starts with the “yeah, but what about the toilet?”. I’ll definitely be looking up your videos on that topic! Thanks for everything you’re doing and thank you both for your service to our country.

      We have a cassette toilet in the four wheel camper and another that's portable that we use with a privacy tent when we take the trailer. You definitely need to get one for your wife! It has made a huge difference in my enjoyment of overlanding. 😁

Like so many people who made a career out of the military during the past few decades, he spent a lot of time deployed and away from family. He's worked hard all his life and I love that he has stumbled on this UA-cam thing and gets to live the dream now. 😊

    I do the van living nomad life and love it. After retiring 34 years ago from the Air Force I wanted to do the "Jeep thing" but life changed my direction. At 74 the Jeep adventures are exciting for me to watch. So, going to camp at our national and state parks keep me happy and anxious for my next visit. Your channel is so enjoyable. I totally agree with that the camaraderie aspect in the military is awesome. Our hospital members were like one huge family, enjoying outings together, tending to or at least offering help, and many of us even camped weekends together with everyone contributing to the events. I, too, married a beautiful woman who also was on active duty. You made an awesome choice yourself, Brad, but it's more like it went both ways. Wonderful couple with great personalities!
