@goshking4331 That's an exaggeration. She's like that until she realizes that Vault Hunting is serious business that can get anyone involved in it killed (Maya's death). There could've been better ways to get that to happen, but what I really didn't get is how quickly she adapted to Maya's power, and considering her track record with learning and discipline, it seems unlikely. The game does hammer in that Ava is a "when push comes to shove" type of person though.

The problem with "reimagining" an established franchise is: A. Casual audiences won't care about the movie to begin with, and B. Fans who _do_ care and _will_ come see it are gonna be pissed off that the lore was vandalized. If you're _gonna_ adapt an IP, adapt it accurately or _don't fucking bother._
Case in point: Moxxi having a southern accent. Yes, in the games, Moxxi _does_ have a southern accent, being one of the Hodunk tribe. She _hides that accent 99.9% of the time in order to hide that she's from the Hodunk tribe._ Now, a fan knows that. A casual viewer who _doesn't_ know that _isn't gonna get what they did by giving her a southern accent._ So don't fuckin' bother doing it, _either way._
This is the thing that bothers me. You wanted to pay a ton of money to create something based on an already very successful franchise...and you just...remove everything that made it auccessful??? Why did you spend all that money, then!!!!???? If you make a good movie that general audiences can understand, then general audiences will enjoy and view it. If you also make it so that the fans who made the franchise successful enjoy it, they will be your hype machine. How do they get this wrong every time?
You can change an ip but you have to be incredibly careful to make sure that what you're changing still makes sense and fits right in with what was there before but you really need the right producing crew who really care about the starting material
The worst part is Gearbox execs were convinced a movie could work thanks to the first Tales from the Borderlands. They had a perfect formula to follow right there, and they didn't. They opted for shortsighted capitalization with cheap easter eggs. Even Tales had a bunch of easter eggs, but rarely (if ever) was it a case of being there for the sake of being there. I remember Randy Pitchford giving an interview and pointing out how a fucking hatch has the Dahl logo and saying (paraphrasing) "that was taken straight from the games!"
Honestly, if they wanted to make something simple as a popcorn flick, they could have just did a straight retelling of Borderlands 1, and it could have worked far better. You get the 4 mains, you're not expected to know any lore. And you just split up the segments of action with some jokey downtime.
Just saw this, at one point in the movie, when they're in Moxxie's bar, there's a can of axe body spray on the counter. I'm not even joking, it's next to Bobby Lee's character.
@@zinivix It's either : A - Someone used it and forgot to put it off the set, with nobody noticing or caring that a WILDLY out of place item is on the set. B - It's a Sponsored Ad badly placed and thought of. In both cases, it's a terrible look.
@@I_Am_Angkong Kassandra Nova is an evil siren, they later meet with the old vault hunters, then there is a high action battle with blood and explosions and every character shows their skills. IT IS LITERALLY ALL THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE BORDERLANDS MOVIE WHY GEARBOX WHY?!
@@edgieststalker8141 true, but I don’t think gearbox had that much say about it :/ Just look at the Witcher series, neither the original author or CDPR could make them follow the original story
It’s also crazy that Guardians Of The Galaxy is better Borderlands movie than the actual Borderlands movie that we got all 3 of them in fact are better in terms of the comedy and the action
At this point, it's a mercy. Borderlands has three fun games and a nice spinoff that brings the story to a new genre you wouldn't expect it to work in. That's more than most game franchises can ask for. Considering Wonderland, 3 and New Tales ended up so rough (to put it lightly), combined with the cult of personality falling out from under Randy, and that's not even getting into the other gross mismanagments going on in Gearbox, the company can rot for all I care. The people who made those games great deserve an employer that won't drag them down.
To be honest the series has gone downhill since the last BL2 expansion with every release thereafter being worse. I'm still hoping 4 is good but if the studio is finished, which I doubt, at this point it wouldn't be a great loss.
borderlands 3 was okay but the story was absolute dogshit and tiny tina was also in insult, it could have been such a great game instead they did this pile of shit. also there are other failures like the telltale(not from telltale) game which they also ruined completely, right now, if nothing drastically changes, borderlands 4 is done for
@@Pattern_Noticerwoah woah fucking wag. Claptastic voyage first off. Second....some of the bl2 ( I know the main studio didn't make them) dlc's are also ass
I went and saw it tonight. I went in with no expectations, KNOWING it had a bad rating, KNOWING Cate was just doing it for a paycheck, KNOWING Randy Pitchford got his greasy magic mitts all over the film. And trying so, so hard to ignore all that we know about borderlands as a franchise, treating the film as if it were it's own unique concept with new characters? Awful. Seriously, I thought MARCUS was the most interesting character and best fitting. Which isnt far off from what the franchise is, but this was an especially tactless attempt. Guess they need something for their tax write off.
I remember an interview some of the top gear box staff gave a long time ago about doing a BL movie, and they talked about how it would be difficult because of how precious the franchise was and how they would only do it if it had the perfect cast and perfect script and they had final creative say. Well so much for all of that.
I knew it was going to be bad when the actress of Tina said that instead of basing her acting on the ORIGINAL CHARACTER FROM THE GAMES she based her acting on Margot's Harley quinn...
I don't even understand how you could make a movie, based on an entire universe and take so little inspiration from it. It's just insulting and shows how they didn't care at all, it was just a way for them to promote their name.
@@theiridiumgamer5225they just thought the borderlands aesthetic would make bajillions of dollars without considering they might have missed the point of their own series lol
Bl1 was grim and sad, the reason it worked is because of the silent desperation of the world, with little bits of oddly placed humor that worked BECAUSE of the grim and grime. Cowboy bebop is a good analog for a borderlands series, at least the atmosphere and feel. Whatever this is and frankly the story now is not at all what I for one fell in love with all those years ago
They made a fan service movie and took away the fan service imagine if they referenced stuff from the community like if one of them tries to farm for a matching grip
What makes a good Borderlands is when the characters take themselves seriously, and the world-building does not. Roland was a serious, competent soldier, Handsome Jack legitimately felt he was a hero cleansing the planet, Marcus is out to make lots of m money, Tina is a little girl with PTSD hiding behind her mania to avoid dealing with mental health, Mordecai literally goes on a killing rampage when his pet bird gets killed and he cries afterward. Even Claptrap(s) take their job as seriously as they can, and our main Claptrap just wants to be liked. None of the characters would ever turn to the camera after making a generic one-liner, they don't give a passing thought to the fact that every species in the universe has a "midget" form, they are all fully developed real people who just happen to live in a wacky universe. That's what's ruining the stories, characters trying too hard to be wacky
It knew when to take itself serious. The most frustrating thing in all of this is the re-writing of history, I see people constantly accuse 2 of having the same terrible humor as the new ones, when that's not how it was at all. The series is completely dead, the average person cannot see past the garbage for what made it special. Damnit it hurts.
Its funny because people dont realize how serious people got in the story. We find kriegs dialogue funny and quirky but he legitimately wanted to be able to speak normally. Gaige was also dealing with her own shit as well.
So true man, the Pandora itself is true hell, even main characters aren't good (remember trailer song - this ain't no place for no hero) , and the world is crazy not because writers want it to be crazy, but because it CAN'T be normal
I've always thought about this: Borderlands is supossed to be a fucked up place with people trying to do their best to survive, and that's why some wacky Stuff happens It's not a wacky place where sometimes serious Stuff happens.
Unlike most video game adaptations I thought like Borderlands could translate really easy to a film. The blueprint is already there, part Fury Road, part Guardians of the Galaxy, part Deadpool, whatever just with more gun porn. We're not reinventing the wheel here, Borderlands isnt that deep. But this film failed at every single phase of development, except the CG I guess. Really baffling bad management.
That's pretty much what I was thinking. Deadpool+Guardians of the Galaxy+Mad Max. Decent enough Borderlands movie there as long as the gun porn is there and the characters are the same.
I kinda disagree, unless you were to cut a lot of it down, because if you really want to make everything(even if it's just the main story) into a movie it would be like a 4 hours movie(I'm talking about just one game, and it can be any entry of the series)... but well maybe there's a way to cut only to parts that matter and get into something that's closer to 3 hours then it's acceptable? But oh well, I'll say this: if Borderlands ever get another live action, it needs to be a movie, I don't think it can fit as a show series, at least not when talking about main game story. And what I think they should've done since the beginning was to use the universe, and create entire new characters to interact with the universe, but even then I still think, considering this movie, it would probably suck.
@@Cuestrupaster Have you watched Scott pilgrim vs the world? I would expect it to be cut like that. Many characters introduced, screentime is used quickly with lots of expression to show the character. Just that with guns and a mad max pew pew. oh and heaps of dead pool
@@db5094 It's been a while since I watched that movie, I think it's a way of doing, but I'm not sure it would fit in Borderlands theme... but would be better than this for sure.
You know that this is going to be bad when the only place that your local cinema have chosen to place Borderlands movie poster is men's restroom. Can't even make this thing up
No shields, lack of focus on the types of guns, no blood and gore, no character build up, I still feel like this can be summed up as: should have been R-rated instead of PG13 and I think it would've done better as a series to slow down the pacing and build everything up
lilith being an "adult ava" oh my god LMFAO. i somehow got this vibe from just the clips from the trailer, but if it was actually like that for the whole movie... oh BOY
My fav line from the movie is in the Lilith x Tina convo "Atlas is your father, isn't he?" "Yeeees and no" "It wasn't a yes or no question" THEN WHAT WAS IT LILITH
from the trailers it looks like they just picked big named actors/actresses, selected an IP that doesn’t have a show/film yet, google top 10 facts, then make the film. It looks like nobody who worked on this played any of the games maybe they played BL3 but definitely not 1, 2, presequel, or tales. Borderlands should’ve been a slam dunk film to make but they missed by a fair bit. I’ll be seeing this with friends soon but we’re fans going into this and don’t have high hopes
@@IiiiIiiIllIlim mainly thinking about going to AMC to buy the Popcorn bucket, then im watching Deadpool and Woverine. I love the Claptrap bucket, but I dont care about the Borderlands movie.... and thats kinda sad as a fan of the game.
This franchise had the potential to be the next big space opera like Star Wars or Guardians of the Galaxy, but nope. The creators of this movie hadn’t touched a single Borderlands game
God I love this channel, you have a super human ability to keep generating content about a single game series. So glad you got your tickets free because you really deserve it, I don’t really play borderlands anymore but I’ll still watch every vid. But I hope you don’t ever feel boxed into the game series, I’d watch you play new games if you ever thought about it.
I watched this with someone else, and being me I'd quite visibly show my frustration with the movie by just trying to rub my eyes to keep myself awake during it all. Part way through, I overheard someone behind me talking to someone else and they said "think of it as its own thing" and that brought me to the epiphany I needed. The biggest problem with the movie, to me, is that they are forcing it in a direction that doesn't feel like Borderlands while trying to jam pack it with as much stuff to feel like Borderlands. When I saw the thresher, me and my friend looker at each other immediately because we both knew that that wasn't the thresher we knew and loved/hated. A great parallel to that idea and problem of "think of it as its own thing" would probably be The Last Jedi, which many very much disliked due to its implications in a series beloved by many from their childhood, where it swept away a lot of the best things about the galaxy and assassinated a beloved character while doing it. It's a real shame, too, because I would be fine with an adjacent film series that played out in a world (or rather universe) that was different from the series IF they treated it with actual respect, which they clearly didn't.
I went into this movie with the expectation that it is a story in the borderlands universe, but an alternate timeline from the games and it really helps stomach a lot of the issues that people have with
Yeah sorry no I actually hate the implication of "think of it as it's own thing" excuse because it is an excuse. The movie was absolutely horrendous even without being borderlands like Walmart brand Guardians of the Galaxy with worse cgi, stunts, and not having an R rating. They chose to attach this plot to a famous IP much like the God awful last jedi and it should be criticized for it. Not that either of those movies could be enjoyed let alone would be made without crutching on their respective IPs
I was in the Barcelona Comic fair a couple months back, and there was group of borderlands Psychos walking around, pointed them out to my friends, and this lady in a suit came rushing over. She asked me that if I wanted a photo with the psychos, I'd have to post an instagram photo saying I was excited for the movie. I told her hell nah, it looks like crap, and she had the gall to ask me why
Better to pose with the characters. Mention it's with the new Borderlands movie coming out and see who promotes it, while promoting that you care about fans giving then pictures. The forced way seems like 1! Makes the movie look like test audiences aren't happy And 2! There should be a deal with the photos. No cosplay person I know of treats it like Only Fans. Did they ask you to purchase tokens?

Bro the borderlands subreddit kept trying to con everybody into thinking the movie is good meanwhile you have the bl patron saint curb stomping it to hell 😭😭
And it'll never change. Every popular game will be spat on in movie form at some point. The only "good" movies are the ones that are super average, the rest? Garbage.
Saw it today. Much better than the extremely low expectations I had. Biggest negatives for me were the placid Kreig character, Tannis who completely lacked the "Insanely Smart" and should have been more neurotic, an almost non-existent antagonist, way too fast a pace to establish almost anything and then they did almost nothing with the vault monster. Things I liked, sets, graphics and it was a BL story pretty true to the series in many ways. Lilith's Infinity, Roland's Maliwan (ln the Psycho tunnels) from BL3, possibly a Beacon, Atlas soldiers using Atlas rifles. The movie was fun but yeah, nothing special. I doubt non-players will understand it at all. PS: there were only 6 people in the theater.
watched it in the movies with the family, only like 5 people there us included i am a off and on player of the borderlands franchise over the years, mother been playing a bit over the last couple of months, and my father has yet to play at all, and we all honestly enjoyed the movie was it the best, no, was it as bad as EVERYONE is saying it is, no, it is a passable movie, as long as you don't try to connect it to the game outside of, "oh i know that character or oh cool its a infinity". i honestly think that is the biggest problem everyone has with it, and im going to be frank with yall, Claptrap was weak at best, jack did what he could, but we all know it could have been so much better also as a fun fact, the movie made my father want to actually try the game now, so plus
I love the borderlands franchise, but i could not force myself to see this movie. As soon as I saw the first trailer, i knew it was going to be our dragonball evolution, damn i want borderlands to make a comeback as a franchise. 😤😮💨
The most exciting part of the movie for me is literally the fact it's predicted to lose so much money that GBX will have to make up their losses. Their ego as a company has been gigantic and their arrogance has been unbearable lately so if this movie really does lose as much as it's predicted, they'll have to book their ideas up, stop messing around and make some good Borderlands games again. That, or they'll just release BL2 enhanced. We'll see I suppose
It truly amazes me how these Hollywood directors and producers, who clearly are talented, have gotten to where they are creating such atrocities. Just like with The Witcher and Halo, all they had to do was stick to the lore and everyone would've loved it. But instead, because people in Hollywood think they're creative and their s**t doesn't stink, they can do whatever they want to the movie, changing what, over time, has developed into an adoring fan base. All because they think their artistic talent is better than the original. They try to compete rather than work within the universe. Fallout is a prime example of what can happen if you don't ruin a beloved franchise with meaningless new additions. To me, it seems a lot of directors and producers are allowed to succumb to the Peter Principle.
Ok the fallout comment They’re also guilty of it literally they think they’re better than Chris avellone They did not follow the trajectory of all the west coast stories and actively misunderstood the setting to a ridiculous degree
I'm convinced the director played up until sanctuary hole and then stopped, asked chat gpt to summarise the plot of borderlands and proceeded to base the rest of the movie of that alone. They wanted to dumb it down for the general public but failed to realise that condensing over 155-190 hours of gameplay into 1hr 45 mins is an impossible task. The only people that were ever going to understand the movie truly were the fans. And they gave us nothing, nothing at all. Just a measly Vladoff infinity pistol reference. No pretzels, no MINION, no no frefunds, no Dr zed stabbing someone with a needle, nothing at all. It failed to reach the general public and failed to reach the fans, ultimately this movie was for nobody. It missed all the marks.
So we got krieg without maya lol, the fact everyone in the raiders did not like krieg but yet he grew on them all because of our beautiful siren maya:(
Honestly Krom got more than he deserved. All he did was sit on a gatling turret and spam from a mile away until we inevitably killed him. Of all the boss characters they could have chosen he's easily the most boring. Nine toes would have made a better choice.
No surprises, frankly. BL's writing has been on a heavy decline for a good while and the series has been held up on its gameplay alone. Changing it to a medium that is just writing, no gameplay, and infamously difficult to adapt from a video game, was doomed to fail.
The writing has arguably never been that good, you were just 12 when you played borderlands 2 and didn’t know any better, like many of us, and now in every playthrough you just skip through as much dialogue as possible, like many of us
@@SaltSpirits Nah, that's just a cope. Sidequests were like that, maybe, but overt jokes and quips were rare outside of Jack, and there were no meta or meme references in the main game of BL1 or 2. BL1 suffered from being unable to deliver a cohesive storyline due to ludonarrative dissonance, delivering story mostly through text between missions that were implied to actually be verbal, leading to a mor eboring overall story where there were not cutscenes. BL2's main plot works with its characters, offering flaws, development, and interesting twists and climaxes. Later games ditched most of that in favor of a bog-standard "hero's journey" progression without adding any depth beyond that, which is why most returning characters seem flanderized and new characters flat. There is no further evidence of BL3's, Wonderlands', and New Tales' writing being worse than that flanderization, where in comparison, BL2 spent its time giving returning characters MORE history, lore, dialogue, and core traits. BL2's writing isn't bad, and if you're just skipping through it all, that's because you heard it 1000 times before, not because it's low quality. Don't attribute your jaded emotions to poor quality instead of overexposure.
@@yourgoodfriend276 Tons of meta and meme references in BL2, they’re just super dated now so not everyone might recognize them as such. Bad Lip Readings quotes, multiple “cool story bro” and “come at me, bro” lines (yes, those were memes at one point) the Double Rainbow meme, “haters gonna hate,” leeroy jenkins, the neil degrade tyson “watch out we’ve got a badass over here” line, shoop da whoop, south park ski instructor, xzibit’s yo dawg, “u mad bro?” “yolo”, dbz “over 9000” wilhelm scream etc. psychos will also reference the rickroll song, etc. and this is all without getting into stuff like weapon descriptions/flavor text even, just audio stuff. it also excludes video game tv and film references that aren’t tied to memes. Vending machines frequently crack jokes about levelling up, gear rarity etc. arguably the entire face mcshooty quest is a meta joke, etc. It’s chock full of the stuff.“I used to be a vault hunter like you, then I took a bullet to the knee.” & “I used to be a Vault Hunter like you, until I founded the Crimson Raiders” bandits scream “Never should’ve come here!” like they do in Skyrim. Crazy Earl has references to the RE4 trader. Sanctuary NPCs mention the gang from Saints Row in passing. There are even marvel and dc references all over the place. Flyboy will say "I'm gonna be the very best, like nobody ever goddamn was!" in one of his pre-recorded messages in The Forge, multiple Minecraft references in Caustic Caverns, name any franchise from before BL2 released and there’s probably a nod to it somewhere. I don’t know where you got the idea that there weren’t meta jokes or memes or that the writers aren’t doing everything they can to break your immersion. I don’t disagree that BL2 is the best written of the series but when you compare it to media as a whole it’s not excellent and I don’t think many of us are genuinely playing these games for the story.
The biggest fail is probably the pg 13 rating borderlands has always been on the darker more mature side of humor before bl3. And also gore guns dark humor all something thats integral to borderlands and its pretty impossible with a pg 13 to keep that integral vibe of borderlands

I think this would have been better formatted to a tv show. My idea was to follow the first game closely in narrative with most additions being character driven and I think following Roland as the primary character and having the other vault hunters being added in as the story progresses would be great. Roland runs into Lilith outside of 9 toes, they run into Mordecai in arid hills, and brick trying to fight the roid rage psycho. 2 episodes max and all characters are there. Then give another side to Steele so we know more of the villain, and the big thing is change is to not have angel present. Have Lilith subtly kinda guide everyone if other characters don’t know where to go or other side characters. Reveal at the end that angel was only speaking to Lilith but speaks to the 4 of them when the destroyer is destroyed. Show the satellite, show a report of steeled death hitting knoxxs desk, roll credits, season 2 next year. Easy
@@elishuster5943 I think having the subtlety of handsome Jack looming from the reveal of angel is a good enough compromise to not have season 2 focus on him so much as to focus on general knoxx and presequel. There’s a way better version of the knoxx dlc and even revolution if we went down the MINAC route. But having the story told chronologically would be better. Have season 2 show the VHs overthrowing atlas, killing knoxx, meeting Athena. Then have them either do robolution or skip it and go straight to presequel. Either that’s or DLCs are a season on their own or they’re skipped, but I think you can really expand on the dlc storylines to make a really cool season. Otherwise do presequel with a better narrative and then season 3 is borderlands 2
@@prequeltrilogy5812 thinking about it more I think that would probably make a better show but the studios would probably want angel to be a character throughout season 1 and reveal Jack at the end of Season 1 because Handsome Jack is such a big ip that they would want to include him
I got it the perfect metaphor for the borderlands movie. Borderlands movie is borderlands 1 2 and 3 as a 10-year-old's puzzle that has 25 pieces and the director/writer couldn't figure out so he got some scissors cut up the pieces so they fit together how he wanted and ended up a monstrosity
Same it didn't hit as hard as dragon's keep but it did cover a good aspect of how Tina was cause she always was a very isolated child and after basically getting to feel like she has a family again of course she will develop abandonment issues especially after the loss of Roland
One thing in the wonderlands game that made me question life was the part where Claptrap gets laid with a few snake women (I think they’re names are The Coiled Sisters) How does Claptrap f*ck?
Big actors being used for adaptations is always the sign that this is just a heartless cash grab. Of course, the unknown actor did well as Kreig, he wanted to do right by the character because he had something to lose and wanted to do something right by the character, the others don’t fit their roles at all, but their star power has gotten butts in the seats in the past, so why shouldn’t they hear right?
wait, it was PG-13!?!??! WHAT. The funniest parts of borderlands to me was the blood and gore explosions. And once i got a ps4 i played krieg for about a year straight, so he is one of my favourite parts of the series. I didnt want kevin hart to be in the movie from the beginning. i havent seen it, or finished your video yet, but im already sad

Best way i could describe the movie is it was written by people who have never played the game and chose actors who were actors and no other reason? it was just actors because they were famous and werent chosen to act as characters
Im just thinking about how many things they could've done differently in this movie. -Have krieg be a caring character but absolutely insane whenever he fights -Make lilith be a lot more light-hearted and crack jokes -Don't make kevin hart roland -Be faithful to the source material in setting, props and characters except for the basic story structure and new locations. I'm absolutely sure that gearbox had little to no influence on this movie because this would be the worst thing they had ever made by a long shot, even worse than Tales 2.
Krieg even said the "The only one who can kill me is me!" thing, but if you don't actually know what Krieg's story is, it's completely random and nonsensical. Like the "I always come back" in the FNAF movie, but even stranger
This lilith feels like a young girl discovering herself and what she can do but it's actually just a middle aged woman and at that point you should have an idea of what you want from life it makes no damn sense
On you bro, I feel bad I haven’t been watching ur vids enough but I’ll forever stay subbed and view all ur tutorials when I require them. Love ur work keep it up joltz x
No you got it wrong my guy.. Let me point it out: 10:35 time stamp. Tiny Tina was annoying and announced that she was "Special" the entire movie. Which got REALLY annoying. And her being a clone??.. They messed up her backstory. For a demolition expert being a 13 years old girl, there NEEDED to be more explosive action. (If they seriously didn't make this movie pg13, it would've been more enjoyable. More murder, explosions and blood. Not Unicorns and Rainbows.) Claptrap was... Claptrap.. But Jack Black wasn't good for the voice acting. Look, the animation model for Claptrap was good, don't get me wrong! It's just.. The voice. It really didn't suit poor claptrap. I did like Lilith a bit, as much as Tannis. They were both okay. I didn't expect them to be perfect but they were good enough. I was literally relieved near the end of the movie that Lilith DID have her powers, and not Tiny Tina. (Therefore it would've messed up the entire movie if Tina did have powers and would've made me and my partner, walk out.) Roland.. Look Kevin Hart as Roland wasn't the best of choices. As much as I hate to say this, I prefer caring for the videogame Roland then movie Roland. Sorry but wrong choice of actor. I felt that Krieg was the best for the actors build, yeah, I do see him being treated as a pet throughout the film but he was one of the GOOD ones. They should've went for Krieg's backstory. We didn't even get a lick of Sane Krieg's voice.. I wish we did. I had to say something. Not trying to be mean. But I agree with one thing you said. We won't be expecting a sequel and I hope we don't. The movie was just tolerable enough to watch.
Oh wow this is a full video I will definitely check this out later then. I want to see it but I'm not sure yet, I'll check it out after watching your video

I would’ve loved to see more gun variety and jokes surrounding it. Maybe one or more characters just have an insane plethora of guns? How about a scene where one of them takes a second to pick up a gun from the enemy, gives it a once over before keeping it. What about a gag with Roland (Cause he’s Kevin Hart so might as well) in which his guns keep getting destroyed or taken by various means?

@goshking4331 That's an exaggeration. She's like that until she realizes that Vault Hunting is serious business that can get anyone involved in it killed (Maya's death). There could've been better ways to get that to happen, but what I really didn't get is how quickly she adapted to Maya's power, and considering her track record with learning and discipline, it seems unlikely.
I'd suggest the word faithfully rather than accurately.
The Siren's call towards the mythical "wider audience" has claimed yet another soul beneath the murky depths.
I wasn't gonna see tbe movie before. But if it's got Dahl hatch, I'm pretty excited to check it out

Well we shouldn’t be surprised that they knew full well how to design a corrupt, greedy conman character. Surely they’ve got mirrors in Hollywood?
To be fair, people like you are the reason they keep doing it lol
I remember an interview some of the top gear box staff gave a long time ago about doing a BL movie, and they talked about how it would be difficult because of how precious the franchise was and how they would only do it if it had the perfect cast and perfect script and they had final creative say. Well so much for all of that.

Good insight. I agree wholeheartedly.
I've always thought about this: Borderlands is supossed to be a fucked up place with people trying to do their best to survive, and that's why some wacky Stuff happens
It's not a wacky place where sometimes serious Stuff happens.
Decent enough Borderlands movie there as long as the gun porn is there and the characters are the same.
how did they mess up this badly, this could have been so cool.

Bro expected a 48 hr gameplay 😂

The movie was absolutely horrendous even without being borderlands like Walmart brand Guardians of the Galaxy with worse cgi, stunts, and not having an R rating.

I never played the games or read the books for The Witcher and I loved the show although I will admit it has been declining since the first season
Ok the fallout comment
They’re also guilty of it literally they think they’re better than Chris avellone
They did not follow the trajectory of all the west coast stories and actively misunderstood the setting to a ridiculous degree
The guy who plays Krieg is not really an actor, he is a professional boxer born in Romania, and he lives in Germany if im not mistaken.

Borderlands needs to be a TV show. The lore is far to deep for a movie to ever do it justice.
The casting choices boggles my mind Kevin hart as Roland doesn’t make sense to me.
I feel like if they made a real borderlands movie then made this as a parody, people wouldn’t be as upset.
But this IS the real movie. Such a waste.
@@SaltSpirits Nah bl3 was terribly written compared to bl2, objectively, even the main antagonist as one main example.

And also gore guns dark humor all something thats integral to borderlands and its pretty impossible with a pg 13 to keep that integral vibe of borderlands
man b1 and b2 humor was so damn good, it did it perfectly well for such a game and setting, i laughed so many times
More mature? Bruh thinks "poop train" is mature.
@@Lorentz_Driver I mean compared to bl3s fart cave yeah it's pretty mature and actually if you look into people with severe psychosis it's actually the type of crap they might say so it's still has a dark undertone
@@Lorentz_Driver congratulations you cherry picked one line, how about we talk about when jack blew bloodwings head off and made a joke about it? Was that too immature for you?
@@Lorentz_Driver”Bruh” takes one line from the game and somehow thinks the commenter is referring to it for maturity.
Totally not the extreme gore and dark undertones but noooo “poop train”. Good one! Big smart!
Easy
That sounds pretty epic. An alternative ending could be like a silhouette of Handsome Jack saying something like "all according to plans"
Thanks for jumping on this grenade for us.
Hollywood action movies are for whatever reason disgusted with the idea of an action hero using any type of firearm other then pistol so not surprised
John Wick syndrome

Don’t forget how they fucked up Wonderlands
@@Kingfury4wonderlands wasn’t THAT bad, i liked it
Same it didn't hit as hard as dragon's keep but it did cover a good aspect of how Tina was cause she always was a very isolated child and after basically getting to feel like she has a family again of course she will develop abandonment issues especially after the loss of Roland
One thing in the wonderlands game that made me question life was the part where Claptrap gets laid with a few snake women (I think they’re names are The Coiled Sisters)
How does Claptrap f*ck?
I absolutely detest tales though. Apparently just me -
Big actors being used for adaptations is always the sign that this is just a heartless cash grab. Of course, the unknown actor did well as Kreig, he wanted to do right by the character because he had something to lose and wanted to do something right by the character, the others don’t fit their roles at all, but their star power has gotten butts in the seats in the past, so why shouldn’t they hear right?
Don't forget about all of the cliche dialogue "you hear that." "Hear what?" "That's the sound of freedom." 😭
wait, it was PG-13!?!??!
Finshed it, can conclude i have no hope for the series. they want money. Time for the funeral
I was so hype when they announced this...10 years ago. Talk about striking while the iron is absolute zero
Even if they did this 10 years ago, it would still be terrible
We really did peak with BL2: Dragon Keep, didn't we?
yes. yes we did
I feel like if they bumped the age rating to at least a 15 and made a TV series, they could've done a lot more with it. The entrie thing definitely seemed rushed :((
31:05 The 115 mil wasn't gearbox's money, it never could have gone towards BL4 :(

Cool it with the anti-semitic remarks
Punisher 04 was spectacular you take that back right now
I think there's a lot more than Avi at fault here
This kind of hurts it’s disrespectful that they literally just picked big names and expected us to love it like the series we’ve grown to love.
"But, there's always a butt" Joltz while looking at Buttstallion in the game.
I genuinely laughed at that had to be on purpose
Best way i could describe the movie is it was written by people who have never played the game and chose actors who were actors and no other reason? it was just actors because they were famous and werent chosen to act as characters
What if... the Borderlands 2 movie starts on a familiar yellow train...
Im just thinking about how many things they could've done differently in this movie.
-Have krieg be a caring character but absolutely insane whenever he fights
-Make lilith be a lot more light-hearted and crack jokes
-Don't make kevin hart roland
-Be faithful to the source material in setting, props and characters except for the basic story structure and new locations.
I'm absolutely sure that gearbox had little to no influence on this movie because this would be the worst thing they had ever made by a long shot, even worse than Tales 2.
i feel like kreig could of just been yapping and like tryna hurt himself when there is talking just like when he hits himself when in his rampage
Krieg even said the "The only one who can kill me is me!" thing, but if you don't actually know what Krieg's story is, it's completely random and nonsensical. Like the "I always come back" in the FNAF movie, but even stranger
Might have been good if they picked a better cast. Jack black as claptrap is diabolical
Ya they seemed to not understand that the Voice Actors for the Game really make the Game
The people who made this don't seem to realise that slapping a bunch of popular actors into a movie doesn't instantly make it good
Jack Black didn't deserve it
Why was Kevin hart Roland 😭
that was like the only "good" choice but it got ruined after he endorsed the Trump assasination
I know there’s like a thousand channels that say it’s bad but when it comes from jolt you know it’s bad
This lilith feels like a young girl discovering herself and what she can do but it's actually just a middle aged woman and at that point you should have an idea of what you want from life it makes no damn sense
I heard someone describe it as “a less funny Guardians of the Galaxy with a borderlands theme” and wow that fit perfectly.
Thank you joltz for putting the spoiler free and spoiler text on screen! It means a lot
I heard, i didnt laugh once i didnt smile once and thats ALL I NEEDED TO HEAR LMAOOOO OH NO ITS SO BAD
Lilith being an adult Ava, the guns not being what they should be, what a damn shame.

How about we get someone who isn't a midget to play a commando? sounds good? Sounds good.
And Johnny Depp as Mordecai! Maybe Dave Batista as Brick (please not the rock)
id skew younger personally, in which case MAYBE michael b jordan if we're going for that look
It is fucking bad and I know it. Joltz knows it. My poor Cate Blanchett knows it. But a Joltz video is a Joltz video :D

Krieg was the only best thing in the movie which makes us Krieg mains happy enough although it flopped unsurprising
Just as long as you aren't "Fuel the Rampaging" Krieg in my lobby where my "close enough" skill is putting you in ffyl every 16 sec hehe
"Adult Ava" explained it all.
No you got it wrong my guy.. Let me point it out:
10:35 time stamp.
Not Unicorns and Rainbows.)
Claptrap was...
(Therefore it would've messed up the entire movie if Tina did have powers and would've made me and my partner, walk out.)
Roland..
Oh wow this is a full video
I will definitely check this out later then.
I want to see it but I'm not sure yet, I'll check it out after watching your video
I'd personally say, still go and see it even after watching this because you might feel different about the movie to joltz
Joltz u should get into a position to write future game/movie stories for Borderlands literally your destiny bro no better person.
WITH KEVIN HART AS ROLAND!?!? U guys really thought…? that shi is just nah… like they needed a popular actor as padding??? IDK but wtf bro😕
Roland last I remembered wasn’t a comedian was he guys? Unless I missed something 💀
PS: going to copy and paste this bc want to hear peoples opinions sorry if annoying.
@@tylercale69 Thats completely fair tbh
@M4SKED2001 Its what I did. And after watching it myself, I don't entirely agree with Joltz but I do understand, respect and agree with some of his points. I liked the movie but I didn't love it. For me it was a 6/10
Don't do it, the movie is just pure Hollywood garbage
Psycho in game: “IM GONNA RIP YOUR HEART OUT AND EAT WHILE YOU WATCH AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!”
Psycho in movie: oopsie sowwy for hurting you uwu 🥺
Imagine Tarantino as the director and scriptwriter with his gore, borderline insanity dialogues, detail etc. Guess we’ll never know
I would’ve loved to see more gun variety and jokes surrounding it.
Thanks for this, cementing my doubt. Mby, mby I'll catch it on streaming when I'm not sober.
Based Joltzdude giving his honest opinion
