great to see and as always variety feeding is so important. Locusts have a larger gut than smaller livefoods, so the transfer of live gut culture and Gutload is increased. In order to pass this on in a highly bioavailable way we now suggest that they are prefed and hydrated and heated for at least an hour to 32 degree. This then allows the transfer of the gut cultures. A species well worth including within variety feeding and especially good around the breeding months for both species. They are also a larger animal, less are required to fill the animal than smaller livefoods. For me, my go to foods are these locusts, brown house crickets, calciworms and soldier flies. Then morios and waxworms in smaller amounts during the month. I limit roach feeding due to the high level of P, but again, they are fine when measured within variety feeding. Good use of ReVitaliseD3, a nice light dusting.
Oh I just saw your comment and I had actually asked this in a seperate comment, but is there a specific formula to leopard gecko supplementation, ie x mcg of calcium per g of bodyweight or something of the sort? I hate guessing, of course the gutloaded amount is a variable in this but it would tremendously help to have a baseline to work with! I would really appreciate a reply back Also, I have been desperately trying to get my hands on the shade dweller and dhp (in the US) but every company that carries it is out of stock. I have emailed them all (yep I did that) asking if they had a rough approximate date on when it may be back in stock but the ones I've heard back from have not thus far had an answer. Do you have any insight as to when more shipments will be going to the US? And could you possibly give me some more retailer names that carry your products because all I'm looking at right now is reptilesupply, Josh's frogs, bio dude and pangea. Thanks!
How do you best gut load your insects please? I feed a single Leopard Gecko which we have owned for 3 months now and I keep a variety of foods for him inc locusts, dubia, morio and meal worms. I have been making sure they have food in the tubs I am keeping them in on a daily basis but the Retile Network article file I have just read recommends to split the food you intend to feed your reptile 12 hours before and then gut load and hydrate to the maximum. I am using the Arcadia insect fuel, bug gel for hydration plus a variety of veg which is all topped up and they are kept under the Viv. Is my method obtaining sufficient nutritional value to the insects or should I be feeding less often to make sure they are fully loaded before feeding to my Gecko. Many thanks.

I'm sorry for laughing but with Minnie and the finger chomps were too funny. especially at the end of the clip, the way it cut with the loud beep made me think of how some shows did censoring swears and etc.
Hi we got a 4 month old female on Saturday. She's still not eaten. I'm petrified of bugs! What are you using here as they don't seem to be so jumpy? We got a cricket pen but it seems so faffy compared to what you're using here?
Hi. I'm a new leo owner, and my gecko seems to be doing great. But I've gotten alot of different information on feeding. I have a month old gecko, but I dont know for sure how many mealworms to give it, or if I feed it every day, or other day. 😕
Mealworms are absolutely not healthy for their main diet. They should make up no more than 25% of their diet. I’d only feed them rarely (if at all) to babies, since they’re difficult to digest. Feed mainly live crickets or Dubia roaches. As for how many feeders per feeding: feed as many as they’ll eat in fifteen minutes. Feed daily until they’re six months old, then every other day until they’re a year old, then every 3-4 days.
Hey I have a question regarding specifically calcium supplementation (but it really concerns any supplement), is there a formula on precisely how many micrograms of calcium per gram of bodyweight a leopard gecko should get? I'm having a hard time finding this information although I will keep searching but I like to know and not guess. If anybody else has the answer to this question, along with a source that would be fantastic!
I’m not sure how many micrograms per gram of body weight they should get. But you don’t need to know that. As long as you dust with it every other feeding and don’t leave any in the enclosure they’ll be fine.
@@fionashepley478 I'm aware of there being guides out there on when to dust or gutload but I want to know the formula behind it. Also, "every other feeding" is very vague since how often you're feeding depends on age, so essentially you would be giving a juvenile or hatchling higher doses of calcium going by that statement and oversupplementation can lead to health problems which is why I want to know some actual science behind it and not just do as others do. May work for one, may have negative effects on the other.
I tried locusts and my leo loved them....he gets angry that i won't feed him morio worms for every feeding...im sorry Chickpea you need more than just morio worms in your diet...
No more mealworms! They are intended as a treat only. If you keep feeding mealworms that might be all they'll ever eat. Appropriately sized crickets, Dubia roaches, locusts and calci-worms are ideal staple foods.

HI, we do not sell product direct to the public, but if you PM us via social media or email i will try and help you find an agent that can help you. Best wishes.
Can you maybe help me with what to do whe my gecko is impacted by sand? I removed all his sand and went out and got some Zilla liner. I gave him the warm bath and rubbed his belly yesterday and he pooped pretty decent size that had sand in it, but I’m still seeing the black under his stomach I don’t have any vets that will look him hes about 3 months old 6inches. He hasn’t pooped yet today and I’m getting kind of worried do you have any tips for me?
Zilla liner isn’t good as it harbours bacteria and can catch on their teeth and claws. Use paper towel for now. Keep giving him lukewarm baths daily, and gently rubbing his belly. Giving him some mineral oil to lick up may help. Seeing some blue spots on his belly is normal (you can often see their organs), but a big black spot isn’t good.
He passed about an hour ago, I think after he started pooping when I gave him the baths he strained himself to death. Wish I would have listed to everyone about how bad sand can be. 😢 Rest In Peace Melvin 💔
Leopard Gecko, I have a question. Please reply. I got a new baby leo last week. She's albino and really hates light. I was wondering this. I did a bunch of research before getting her and when I got her, we bought calcium mixed with vitimen d3. Do I still need to use the uvb lamp( wich is 5.0 lowest I could find) when I use the cal/D3? I don't want to over dose her ,Plus like I said she hates light and is basically living in darkness right now. So my question is as long as she still gets the vitimen d3 do I still need a uvb lamp. I've been taking as much advise from your videos as possible but I can't find anything on what I just said. Please help P.S. I also got her multivitamins.
You do not need UVB as long as you’re supplementing with artificial d3. Although it’s beneficial. Your gecko still needs enough light for a day/night cycle, indirect light from a window at least. I have an albino as well. She didn’t like UVB light when I tried it with her, but some albinos do fine with it with enough coverage. Be sure to dust with calcium every other feeding and vitamins every three feedings.
@@fionashepley478 THANK YOU SO MUCH! When I got her she basically hid from the light and uvb, since then I've been giving her light with my window right next to her. It's indirect but it lights my room during the day. And I give her supplants with D3 in it to make up for the uv lamp.
It’s not the best option since it tends to be dusty and hard on their joints. Best options for leos are reptisoil, organic top soil (without fertilizer or perlite, Scott’s is a good brand), or a bioactive mix.
@@fionashepley478 So Zoo med Repti-soil would work? I dont want to get any thing wrong XD first time owner ;D Also, I looked up Scotts organic Top Soil which one is better?
Hey so I was wondering, My gecko is acting weird like he hasn't been going out to get some heat from the light(I use a light cause I live in AZ and the room gets real hot). Is he healthy? I have a link: ua-cam.com/video/IRdYbK1U_yk/v-deo.html
I recommend using Arcadia’s deep heat projector or a halogen bulb for heating. Any heat source must be connected to a thermostat (heat lamps need dimming thermostats) to regulate the temperature. If your room gets too hot, use air conditioning. Measure the surface temps with a temperature gun. Digital thermometers with probes are good for air temps.
Yesterday I went to my local PetCo to get some things for my leopard gecko I will be getting later this month. While there I very surprised when I saw the food in every tank had been dusted. They all used reptile carpet, non sand in sight, I didn’t even see sand to be bought. All of the tanks were a good size for a temporary tank. They all seemed to be happy and active. So shout out to my local PetCo. I wish all of them could do that.
Reptile carpet isn’t a good substrate since it catches their teeth and claws and harbours bacteria. Unfortunately your Petco most likely still gets their animals from mills. It’d be best to avoid buying animals from them.
@What the Gracie girl please replace that sand it won't change anything that its vitamin sand if the gecko eats it he will get impacted. Vitamin sand or not.
I wish we were able to get these in the US. I think my geckos would like them and i have a larger tarantula that these would be the perfect size for (I have feed like four large cricets for her to get a decent meal)
hey i weighed my leopard gecko recently and she is only 45grams and she didn't even lay any eggs or go off her food i was wondering if you would know any tips to help her gain weight without feeding a load of fatty foods like wax works
@@leopardgeckotalk yeah i gut load and dust her food ,she's 1 and a half years old now however i am changing her supplements to arcadia earth pro A and calcium pro mg because i was only using calcium with D3 and discovered with the LIFE SAVING help of your channel that thats not enough so hopefully the new supplements will help,Thank you.
The fact you have the courage to pick the locust up 🙈 I have 2 geckos and I never hand feed them because it terrified me that Shark will bite me 😂 (she’s 5 and looks like Minny/Minnie lol) and Cheese would ignore me (she’s yellow lol)
Damn the way Gizmo dove for the locust so enthusiastically made me laugh. Also my leo has done the same thing as Minnie, just chomps my finger instead of the food or gets my finger along with the food (good thing it doesn’t hurt lol). I’m glad he’s not super picky, but I switch up his food and mix up different bugs in his meals just so he gets a variety.
There is a paper by a veterinarian I read yesterday. In summer it's 12 hrs and winter it's 14. Hope this helps. Also be sure to use caution on the strength of your UV light as of course albino/patternless/less pigmented animals are at risk of getting burns so you should adjust the bulb strength accordingly. A T5 would be best for any normal/wild type/pigmented/tangerine etc and a T8 would be better for an albino/less pigmented. Source Francis Baines DVM Found on reptifiles.com You should read the article, it's very insightful I'm still setting up for my first leopard gecko (I've been planning on one for 5+ years now, it's ridiculous at this point lol) but I can't find the exact lighting I want so I'll just keep setting up my tank and biding my time. But my poor succulents need light too 😂 Came back to add the actual percentages of uvb which is important. 7% for more pigmented geckos 6% for albino
Can you please try to explain when to feed the calcium, calcium with D3, and multivitamin. I’m doing tons and tons of research and found you where most reliable. I want to make sure my leo lives the best life without MBD and all things like that :)
She actually has a video all about feeding and supplement schedules! Just search up "leopard gecko supplement schedule " on UA-cam and you should find what you're looking for :)
Usually for my leo I feed it 3 times then on the 4th feeding day I dust feeder insects with the calcium and multivitamins.. I mix both the powers then put the feeder insects in
Calcium without d3 most of the week, vitamins with d3 for 1 or 2 days per week. Everyone has a slightly different schedule with healthy geckos so don't worry too much about it being an exact science. As long as they get their calcium, vitamins, and d3 during the week you should be set.
Gingerblossom Oh yes! I have watched that, but she doesn’t explain when to use the D3 on the multivitamin. Or is the multivitamin considered the D3? In her description she says she uses 100% normal calcium, Calcium with D3, and a multivitamin. She doesn’t show in her example when she uses the D3
hey i love your videos but you should watch out for when your feeding your geckos locusts because on there back legs they have spikes who an stab your geckos mouth and get infected . i hope this helps you and by the way love your videos again!!!
That was my concern. They seem so much more robust I guess for lack of a better word, with all their leg spikes etc. That's why I'm going to try mealworms and crickets first, for now. Will probably switch to dubias eventually because crickets just suck. I don't even have my leo yet and I'm already annoyed with the crickets 😂

Locusts = Great!
I'm sorry for laughing but with Minnie and the finger chomps were too funny. especially at the end of the clip, the way it cut with the loud beep made me think of how some shows did censoring swears and etc.
Do you film your videos towards night time with your leopard geckos?
Did u get these from the UK? Cause I’m only seeing places in the UK that carry Locusts
Locusts arent legal here so I don't have experience feeding them. Are they bitey like crickets are?
What happened to minnie’s eye? I’m new to this channel so I wouldn’t know.
Hi we got a 4 month old female on Saturday. She's still not eaten. I'm petrified of bugs! What are you using here as they don't seem to be so jumpy? We got a cricket pen but it seems so faffy compared to what you're using here?
Hi so they can ear them.my local pet shop said they cant eat them so never tried my 2
My leopard geckos favourites are the locusts! 🦎
He isn’t actually too interested in crickets! 😆 💓
Does anyone know if you can use Pangea to breed flightless fruit flies?
Do I HAVE to feed insects insect fuel?
This might be random, but I just asking 😅
no, you don't, but it's better for your gecko if you do
@@phonics4parents94 thank you, I have a gecko now, I'm using insect fuel, and he's very happy and healthy!
Do you have
crested geckos?
Yass Minnie
I usually feed 4 locusts, and my leopard geckos like them a lot more than crickets dky
ah nice :)
All ima say is baby crested gecko Vs half grown locust = legs sticking ot of crested geckos mouth
What you don’t know is; that every batch of locust u buy; the less chance they will harm our agricultural crops
No its not a mating thing they are geting ready to do a big jump
so is it normal for leopard geckos to not eat? i've been able to get my gecko to eat about 3 meal worms but that's it 🥺 please respond!
No more mealworms! They are intended as a treat only. If you keep feeding mealworms that might be all they'll ever eat. Appropriately sized crickets, Dubia roaches, locusts and calci-worms are ideal staple foods.
I feed my baby lepod gecko 4
And locusts
can someone please help me on how to buy arcadia products? i’ve looked on their website, and i cannot seem to find a “add to cart option” and i can’t find any products in stores near me. i really want to make my crestie a bioactive tank, and i can’t do so without arcadia earth mix because i really wish to use that substrate. help please!
I think they do the legs in the air thing as a defence strategy maybe
hmm maybe, I may have to google it.
Please help
And I give her supplants with D3 in it to make up for the uv lamp.
i usually feed my gecko 7 or 8 locusts :)
Ah cool :)
Hello
Have you tried with cockroaches?? My gecko sometimes eat locust cockroaches, those are easy to breed :3
Can I use coconut fiber from Eco earth for a leopard Gecko? I got some for my Crickets, and I have some left over! Is it ok to use?
It’s not the best option since it tends to be dusty and hard on their joints. Best options for leos are reptisoil, organic top soil (without fertilizer or perlite, Scott’s is a good brand), or a bioactive mix.
@@fionashepley478 Thanks!
@@fionashepley478 So Zoo med Repti-soil would work? I dont want to get any thing wrong XD first time owner ;D Also, I looked up Scotts organic Top Soil which one is better?
SweetsageAnimations both are great, really the only difference is the price. Scott’s organic top soil is cheaper
Thanks so much!
Hey so I was wondering, My gecko is acting weird like he hasn't been going out to get some heat from the light(I use a light cause I live in AZ and the room gets real hot). Is he healthy? I have a link:
ua-cam.com/video/IRdYbK1U_yk/v-deo.html
I recommend using Arcadia’s deep heat projector or a halogen bulb for heating. Any heat source must be connected to a thermostat (heat lamps need dimming thermostats) to regulate the temperature. If your room gets too hot, use air conditioning. Measure the surface temps with a temperature gun. Digital thermometers with probes are good for air temps.
@@fionashepley478 thx, that was helpful, and good info :D
Minnie: 3
Fingers: 0
haha 😂
That pic makes this comment terrifying.
Minnies my dogs name
Minnie is my fishes name
Leopard gecko: I think she likes it.
“ she likes it!!, she likes it!!”
😂😂
Yesterday I went to my local PetCo to get some things for my leopard gecko I will be getting later this month. While there I very surprised when I saw the food in every tank had been dusted. They all used reptile carpet, non sand in sight, I didn’t even see sand to be bought. All of the tanks were a good size for a temporary tank. They all seemed to be happy and active. So shout out to my local PetCo. I wish all of them could do that.
Mine is like that too
Reptile carpet isn’t a good substrate since it catches their teeth and claws and harbours bacteria. Unfortunately your Petco most likely still gets their animals from mills. It’d be best to avoid buying animals from them.
@What the Gracie yea it isn’t the best, but better then sand
@What the Gracie girl please replace that sand it won't change anything that its vitamin sand if the gecko eats it he will get impacted. Vitamin sand or not.
5:35 is definitely the best part of the video haha!
haha
Did it hurt??
I wish we were able to get these in the US. I think my geckos would like them and i have a larger tarantula that these would be the perfect size for (I have feed like four large cricets for her to get a decent meal)
Aren't locusts available in the US?
@@leopardgeckotalk locust are invasive in the US so only us Brits can use them
@@meowpurrr invasive? So theyll infest your tanks? Why are they not like that in uk?
@@user-zq6yz5gf6d they're invasive like burmese pythons, tegus, and iguanas are in Florida
oh yeah my tarantula loves them
my crested gecko passed away yesterday 🥺 i got 2 anoles though they are very cute
Domiiniic sorry to hear that
I'm soooo sorry Domiiniic
Aww I am so sr to hear that I had an anole before they are awesome
Sorry for your loss, loosing a pet is very hard.
😭😭😢
Hi leopard gecko thank you for everything you do and I’m going to get a leopard gecko soon because of you 😀
Aw awesome! Good luck :D
Omg same, she's really helped me learn more about leos
hey i weighed my leopard gecko recently and she is only 45grams and she didn't even lay any eggs or go off her food i was wondering if you would know any tips to help her gain weight without feeding a load of fatty foods like wax works
worms*
wax worms, morio worms and super worms are a good treat for once a week or so. But experiment different foods! do you feed mealworms?
Have you tried cickets or mealworms?
Make sure the food is gutloaded, and dusted. And make sure you're feeding enough. Some geckos are smaller than others. Is your gecko an adult?
Their teeth are so tiny it dosnt hurt wgen they bite😆
I really don’t understand how people pick up crickets. I literally can’t do it they just jump and wriggle EVERYWHERE. I feed locusts to my beardie...
I love this 😂😂😂
I feed 3 locusts every other day to my gecko Loki, I buy three tubs a time and they last me about 2 weeks
I guess your leopard gecko loki likes them. Pun intended (if you didn't notice loki or how it sounded in my mind low key
@@crunchy9093 he's not so Loki about liking them, he goes mad for them 😂
Ah nice :) maybe I fed too many 🙈
@@leopardgeckotalk hi, can you do a short video of you booping your leopard gecko's noses. It would be cute/funny/idk if you would do itn
Loki is a great name for a gecko. My Leopard Gecko's name is Tango. I also have a Crested Gecko named Rico.

Ikr 😂 ah yeah variety is best :)
Quick question. How long do you leave your uvb lights on?
Yesss I need help with this so muchhh
There is a paper by a veterinarian I read yesterday.
In summer it's 12 hrs and winter it's 14. Hope this helps.
Also be sure to use caution on the strength of your UV light as of course albino/patternless/less pigmented animals are at risk of getting burns so you should adjust the bulb strength accordingly. A T5 would be best for any normal/wild type/pigmented/tangerine etc and a T8 would be better for an albino/less pigmented.

You should read the article, it's very insightful
I'm still setting up for my first leopard gecko (I've been planning on one for 5+ years now, it's ridiculous at this point lol) but I can't find the exact lighting I want so I'll just keep setting up my tank and biding my time. But my poor succulents need light too 😂
Came back to add the actual percentages of uvb which is important.
7% for more pigmented geckos
6% for albino
I do usually do 2hours in the morning and 2hours in evening, but thinking of doing 10-12 hours in Diego's tank along with his LED :)
I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem, they're not really sharp, but thanks for the heads up :)
Can you make a video on how to convince your parents x Bcuz I have pages of info and have done so much research but I jsut can’t convince them.
Is locusts More healthy than crickets for crested gecko? Should I give them for as treat instead of crickets?
But I love ur vids because when I get A Leopard gecko can take care of it correctly
I know you did a video on you are not a vet but do you know how to calm down a baby crested gecko
She did a video about how to make u gecko love you and how to tame
