    Just got my first pair of gradient sun adaptive glasses and they are brilliant. So comfortable, versatile, functional, I can wear them indoors and outdoors and still see clearly. You custom made them to look like yours Rob and they just do the job perfectly!
    I wouldn’t mind getting another pair of sun adaptive and wondered if the BP matte midnight glasses that I’m hoping to get from you will look cool in blue in my prescription? Thanks 😊

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  2 роки тому +1

      Of course they will! The Barton Perreira pair are on order and I can't wait for you to have those too.
      But as you say, the Adaptive Sun technology is so, so versatile. I'll film more videos about it this summer for sure

    I can see why you recommend these Zeiss adaptive sun lenses. They are top notch. I’ll probably go for the green gradient. Another really informative video Rob. Thanks 👍

    I want to buy these to wear inside instead of my photochromic transitions, as my photophobia is killing me at work, in malls, drug stores, offices and all indoor places where the artificial white light is bright and/or the natural light coming from the windows is blinding me. It would also be a solution in the car (I am not driving, but still the light is killing me and transitions are close to no help). What do you say, Robert? I know it is said not to wear dark tinted lenses inside as it can worsen photophobia but I can't get home iritable and with a headache everyday.

    Great videos! It really helps to understand lense combinations. Zeiss lense options can be confusing.
    I’m thinking of getting the adaptive sun in blue with ruby flash mirror. Would this work?
    Do you have any examples or planning on doing adaptive sun with flash gradient lenses and the color options?

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Рік тому +1

      Yeah it would! And that's a great idea for a video theme... maybe towards summer I might do it? Alternatively, if you were thinking of ordering from us, we could set up a video call where I could show you all the options and help you select the right combination

    In your opinion, does the gradient lens (say, in blue) work well indoors as well?
    I work indoors in an office (dress code is almost non-existent, so not a factor), but I'd like to consider tinted lenses (because they look better on a rimless Cartier, which I am also considering - as a result from watching your videos) to wear indoors and outdoors (rather not switch around glasses if I can avoid it).

    Hi Rob, what Reykjavik Eyes frames are most similar to the ones you are wearing? I am guessing the Fulla? The ones you are wearing are a good size for sunglasses and look cool ? Thanks

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  2 роки тому +1

      Hey, I've been thinking about this and have an idea. The one I'm wearing here is actually a one of a kind prototype gifted to me by Gunnar, who invented Reykjavik Eyes. It was originally an optical frame. You're right that the Fulla is the closest.
      What we could do for you Robert is recreate the exact proportions of my frame in an Alba rimless, just how I customised a pair for my own use in the other video you saw. How does that sound?

    • @robert15john
      @robert15john 2 роки тому

      Yes please, sounds great!.
      Perhaps In gradient brown with a flash mirror coating to match the Alba frame as you previously suggested Rob. Thanks 👍

    What kind of lens material do you recommend for AdaptiveSun or Smartlife photochromic lenses? I have a prescription of -4.75 I wanted better optical clarity than polycarbonate but I live in the US and can’t find any retailer that carries all of the Zeiss technology or lens materials, some have either one or the other

    Nice car by the way! looks like the new BMW Z4? I recently had to have some new varifocals made. I asked Specsavers about their version of this type of transition lens and the chap put me off by saying they won't work in the car due to the UV blocker on the windscreen so had one pair normal sun glasses another pair normal clear glasses but with hindsight I think the transitions would probably have worked fine since as you say you don't need them too dark in the car. Although not sure if Specsavers lenses are as good as the equivalent Zeiss.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  3 роки тому +1

      It is! Just got it actually. You clearly know your cars :) And no, nothing as good as this is available at Specsavers... that's one of the reasons why our customers seem to love us. Anyway, sorry the advice came a little too late, but at least you know for the future. Keep in touch.

    If I had the money I'd probably get my prescription glasses with these adaptive lenses. Quick question, can the photochemical lenses have a custom tint done on top of the adaptive lenses? I am very light sensitive so clear lenses are only suitable for night time driving.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  2 роки тому +4

      Hi Anthony, unfortunately that isn't technically possible since the heat needed to make the lens absorb the tint would also damage the light-sensitive film. But even if it was possible, since the lenses already go to 97% darkness, a tint over the top of that would render the lenses unusuable.

    Hi, one question about the Adaptive Sun lenses - if I understood correctly they are similar to photo fusion ones, but start from a darker point and go very very dark. With photo fusion they don’t get really dark in hot weather, would it be the same for AS as well? Thanks

    I have a regular pair of glasses I need to change the lenses on, and old-prescription sunglasses I have to change the lenses on.
    What would you do between these 2: 1) get Photofusion X on the regular glasses new lenses, and use those all the time 2) Get Adaptive Sun new lenses for my eyeglasses, and no Photofusion on the new lenses on the other pair.
    1) + 2) is not an option, to limit cost.

    The website states that “all AdaptiveSun lenses are not suitable for driving”. Should I be aware of any side effects/risks it poses wearing them while driving?

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  3 роки тому +5

      Great question. They have to say this because Adaptive Sun lenses can get darker than the legal limit (90%). However this would only happen in extreme UV situations outside of the car. Theoretically you could get in your car after the lenses have darkened and it would be illegal to drive with them (or perhaps if you have a convertible they could also become too dark) but in real life I doubt this would ever be an issue...

  • @michaeltan97

    I dislike my transition lens 10 years ago and it doesn’t look good during indoors. I want to do away with swapping glasses, would the adaptive lens help in my case?

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Рік тому +1

      That's like saying you want to do away with swapping shoes - you still need to choose the right shoes for the right activity.
      One pair of glasses can never do everything. Adaptive Sun is meant to make your sunglasses more versatile, not replace your clear glasses.
      Transitions (and especially PhotoFusion) have come a long way in 10 years - so I'd consider those technologies if you want to make your general use glasses more versatile.

    • @michaeltan97
      @michaeltan97 Рік тому +1

      @@thespectaclefactory so for a sunglass, adaptive still the most recommended but can’t be a full replacement for a clear glass. What colour tint do you most recommend for one who drives and walk about quite often.? Is there still a need for transition if I already have adaptive ? At least I like a pair that can do most during the day and when I am meeting people indoors, it doesn’t seem rude wearing a sunglass or be suspected of having a sore eyes wearing dark shades indoors. Trust you know what I mean.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Рік тому

      I think if you have Adaptive Sun, you definitely don't need Transitions in your clear pair as Adaptive Sun is better in almost every way
