I say this with love. Ben, you yourself are cheating on slappies. There shouldn’t be any lifting of the front or back truck. The nose hitting the curb is what is supposed to get the front truck on the curb and make the slap that slappies are named for. The true test if you can do them is to try them with your feet right on the bolts. If you’re bored one day give them a shot. Roll up at a 45 degree angle or more (oddly enough more is easier, but you grind less the more straight on you hit it). Your nose should bash similar to when getting into slappy crooks. And like you said, there shouldn’t be any lifting. As your front truck locks in, putting a little more weight on your front foot and being weightless on the back foot should guide the truck onto the curb naturally. One of the best tips I have is to think of them as fakie 50-50 stalls in the mini ramp. It’s the opposite of regular stance 50-50s The leading truck gets on first. The trailing truck follows. When you figure out the proper way, they’ll feel way more consistent. Especially with feebles. Figuring out how to get the nose to slap on the way into feebles was weird, but I’m glad I did. I used to eat shit all the time trying them the way you did them in the video. They feel way better now.
All great tips, I did the back truck-first approach for ages, until I learned slappy crook into back 5-0. In the process of learning that trick I picked up slappy crook to 50-50, and then the front truck-first, proper slappy method came. Think of it like slappy crook to back 50, but keep your weight on your toes (as opposed to standing up on your front foot heel as you would to get up on top of a slappy crook). And yes, a deep carve is everything; it will naturally push you from the sharper crook angle into back 50
You want the curb to be taller than your nose. The ones that sit lower are actually harder to snappy. The carve in method Ben was talking about will help though. You also need that same carving technique for slappying stuff at ledge height. Otherwise, if it’s just an average curb/parking block you can get into it by just bashing.
At the age of 34 and 20 years of skating Im trying to learn slappies. I'm still a toddler at this point! Having fun trying what seems so simple. Thanks for the tips
i think it's cheating too, the real one is when you don't use neither your nose and your tail. You have too put both feets on bolts. Only way to don't do a tic tac, to really smash the curb. Of couse you can do it like you want, but i swear the sensation is way more intense and fun when you'r doing those like this. Try it, have a good day !

the way I learned how to do proper slappies was doing it like a wallride, the first few times I was going almost directly at the curb and jamming it like a wall ride. Not great advice for a beginner who most likely can't wallride but its how I learned. Gotta be aggressive and smash the hell out of it
On your back 50/50 slappy you don't hit the curb with your front wheel. I'd say not the best way to do it. I got the front 50/50 slappy figuret out really well. Front foot on the bolts. I'm still struggling on my back ones, your tip for the back truck could help me. But I'm not giving up on hitting the curb with the wheel.
I found myself doing like these little like S turns kinda like ya would do before carving a big bowl if that makes sense. Come in straight at the curb and at the last second stay low and do that little carve and slap the SHIT outta that curb. That would be my tip. I started learning them last year at 43 and man are they fucking fun
I used to slightly lift when I realized I was scared. Once my balls grew I started bashing them in full speed and tight angles. Gotta keep the front foot behind the front bolts to avoid any cheating. The faster the easier.
Kids, on bside slaps reach your rear hand down like you are gonna bert slappy and don't get close to the curb! Fside get mad, and goose it up at 45° like a nollie thruster, and drive that front foot until you are off. Take it to a vertical curb when you feel tuff..
thanks to those who recommended Jef Hartsel as an example; he explains it beautiful in this tutorial if anyone's interested: ua-cam.com/video/_w73dENxudw/v-deo.html
Rewatching this, I kinda prefer to do bs slappies like that, I mean bs feebles are done like that, because now I think bs smith or 5-0 slappies may be easy that way
Hmm you do it like a transition way where you lift the nose and you back truck makes contact. Whereas I see most bash their front truck 45 degrees and powerslide their back truck on to the curb
Work on getting your back truck on top of the curb next maybe. I disagree wide stance is cheating, just a different technique. Don't think anyone can slappy a ledge in ollie position, but ollie position is better for combos. In the end none of it matters, were talking slappies here

I thought I missed this video then realized it was posted like 8 mins ago. Thank you Ben I really need help with these so this video helps a lot.
Real backside slappy is no lift , front truck always first.
Ben does them wrong
I don’t cheat slappys but my wife cheated on me
Front truck first! No lifting! Watch Handy With Shovels channel for legit Slappy how tos
🙏
I'm old...When I was skating these are tricks kids would do that couldn't ollie 😄👍
Did you make a video of you makng those curbs on your tennis court
You need a nice apple tree in the middle there. Was that a tennis court converted to skate park?
Lol it was a skate park that was designed to look like a tennis court 😂
@@atypical_blk_guy 😂
@@atypical_blk_guy...🤨... haha 🤣
Fooled me
Youre not supposed to lift the front wheels...lol. Feet on both bolts bashing the front truck while sort of powersliding onto the top.
Exactly
No better feeling than charging at a curb and smashing your trucks into it. Slappies are the best.
the way I learned how to do proper slappies was doing it like a wallride, the first few times I was going almost directly at the curb and jamming it like a wall ride. Not great advice for a beginner who most likely can't wallride but its how I learned. Gotta be aggressive and smash the hell out of it
You back foot shouldn't be on the tail. It should be just in front of the tail.
did it today thanks to this video! thank you so much Ben !
Hmmm I always get on with my body on the nose
is this like your own personal tennis court/skate park?
On your back 50/50 slappy you don't hit the curb with your front wheel. I'd say not the best way to do it. I got the front 50/50 slappy figuret out really well. Front foot on the bolts. I'm still struggling on my back ones, your tip for the back truck could help me. But I'm not giving up on hitting the curb with the wheel.
feeling so called out
Isnt lifting your front truck the real cheater way? I like both ways, but I think the ride-on with your front truck is the “proper” one
Your right
I found myself doing like these little like S turns kinda like ya would do before carving a big bowl if that makes sense. Come in straight at the curb and at the last second stay low and do that little carve and slap the SHIT outta that curb. That would be my tip. I started learning them last year at 43 and man are they fucking fun
sick. every time I look at those flat curbs, I imagine it can't be done. now I'm going to go hit up some of those "impossible" curbs
This needs a montage edit with Eye Of The Tiger in the background.
how much for a session at your custom park ben?
Looks good to me ben. Why these pole buffers tryna get all critical and hate on your style is beyond me.
Hardbody karate.
😂 PS that’s a dry ass curb at the end lol
You are still cheating! You are still using your tail to lift up the front a little.
Front truck hits first on a slappy 5050.
fan-f*ng-tastic video Ben, thanks
But what if you are in Saskatchewan and your curbs have a negative angle to them?
loophole wheels review next
He found him some below the knee shorts!
Ben has essentially made a Gifted Hater video about slappies
Dan C. "cheats", its always slightly lifted vs bashed. His foot positioning give it away.
Sup Dan ;)
I used to slightly lift when I realized I was scared. Once my balls grew I started bashing them in full speed and tight angles. Gotta keep the front foot behind the front bolts to avoid any cheating. The faster the easier.
i feel personally attacked lol
Kids, on bside slaps reach your rear hand down like you are gonna bert slappy and don't get close to the curb! Fside get mad, and goose it up at 45° like a nollie thruster, and drive that front foot until you are off. Take it to a vertical curb when you feel tuff..
I don't think you're supposed to lift the front truck either. So still cheating?
i always slam fakie...only time i can get em is like quick slasher grinds...i'll try one wheel manual scoop method.
I typically enjoy your vids. However, you’re technique in this vid is still lifting the front wheels.
Ive been trying to do it like this for FS slappies, but I cant get my back truck on. I always end up doing a slappy willy grind.
I want my own tennis court
When are we getting the sb dunk review
This video is for Dan Corrigan, and dude, Dan STOP olliieing out of transition stalls too !!!!!!
thanks to those who recommended Jef Hartsel as an example;
he explains it beautiful in this tutorial if anyone's interested:

Rewatching this, I kinda prefer to do bs slappies like that, I mean bs feebles are done like that, because now I think bs smith or 5-0 slappies may be easy that way
I say skate however you want.
Hmm you do it like a transition way where you lift the nose and you back truck makes contact. Whereas I see most bash their front truck 45 degrees and powerslide their back truck on to the curb
Yeeeah a new video, perfect saturday
Work on getting your back truck on top of the curb next maybe. I disagree wide stance is cheating, just a different technique. Don't think anyone can slappy a ledge in ollie position, but ollie position is better for combos. In the end none of it matters, were talking slappies here
Hope your Achilles gets better mate.
Front truck first, you still can’t slappy
What is your bushing #'s?
fake curb, try this in the midwest
Thanks dude.
I was going to try out some slappy's today bc of your videos and this has got to be the best pointer. Thanks so much!!
What kind of shorts are those?
Aaaaaaaay a whole video without the word stoked being used lol
I just Ollie into them. Is that not the right way?
I landed my first slappy feeble two days ago
😂🙌 I like this one
If ya lift the front truck, it’s not a slappy.
