I built myself a slappy curb very similar in shape and length to this at a parking lot in an abandoned building near my old place. Long slappy feebles were the most fun trick to do on it. The spot got demolished after 6 months but the sessions at it were the most fun I’d had skating in years. I’m very envious of your curb 🤩
Slappy feebs are sooooo fun, especially when you go stupid fast and stretch them out. You're spot on with the front foot placement. Someone gave me the same advice and it completely sorted me out when I was having difficulty getting out of the grind.
@@bendegros Now shift from a B/S a feebs into a f/s smith (then learn psuedo nollie smith slappies, don't pop sort of 'chinese ollie' into them...much fun.
Turning out of the trick requires all the pressure on heel of the back foot. Also, moving the front foot back a bit allows the board to turn quicker without clipping the toe-side wheel.
Finally! Slappy feeble is one of my favorite tricks too. I have landed some but not consistently. These pointers make sense and I think I'll be able to apply them and succeed. Thanks, Ben!
I'm a feeble junkie, too. I tell people that are learning to think of how your hips work and weight is biased (hips behind rear truck/front leg pointed straight) for a rock n' roll and try to mimic that.
Awesome Ben. Loving the kerbs hey? They rock. Had covid not come along I probably wouldn’t have ever skated a kerb. The kerb is a ripper. Good height, great shape, nice leading edge, long. I’m interested to know how tall is it? (In millimetres- I’m Australian). I made one awhile back but it’s 190mm which is 25mm or so taller than the other kerbs I hit and it’s just tall enough to be really hard (currently can’t slap it). Found your channel in 2019 and it’s one of the best on the internet. 👊
You definitely seem to have caught the curb bug. You should build a curb complete. Some Ace’s, a wide deck and some deck rails! Would love to see how you feel about the deck rails specifically too. Slappys are the best! Cheers!
@@bendegros I've been off and on with Deck rails since '93 and I think they finally became permanent fixture on my boards. Something about getting older and not having to wax everything to slide consistently lol. Very curious what your thoughts would be since it I don't get the impression that you ever had a "high end" setup with rails.
Siiiiick. I have a hard time popping out of slappy feebles early. I have to put my back foot more in the heel pocket rather than more towards the tip of the tail. I think it’s just because I have smaller feet. It’s probably also why I have an easier time bashing my nose to get in. My boards are too big and my feet are too small to use the toe pocket to get in and the heel pocket to get out haha.
This one is not fixed to the ground. It has two lengths of rebar running through it though so even if it ever became unstuck to the ground it would not be able to crack and move. It's 16 feet long so it would be very heavy.
Ben ! Long Time viewer and subscriber! Rare Commentor. What LOW truck would you reccommend for a 8.25 Board? i used to skate indy lows but i dont even think they make them anymore any suggestions? Love ya Legend!!!!
hey man can you tell me what kind of jeans are in this and your other videos and tell me some good brands i would really appreciate it cuz i donthave any good skate pants rn
5.5 inches tall. Just under 6” wide at the top. 7.75” at the bottom. The slope is 10 degrees which isn’t a lot. It’s definitely challenging to a regular slappy. I can do it but a 15 degree slope is better. The edge radius is about a half inch. There’s not a lot I would change about this curb except maybe make the top a half inch narrower.
@@bendegros mine is 8 inch tall, 5 inch wide on top and 8.25 ish at the bottom... I made 1.5 inch straight and after it angled to the top.... I ll probably angle grind an inch at the top and another at the bottom... Anyway, why you think yours is too wide ?
Any luck? I have these pretty much every try on parking blocks, so I finally took these to a curb thinking it would be easy and nope, constantly sticking. Basically I guess the parking block makes it so the kingpin never hits but on the curb if the heel wheel goes too much over, you’re hitting all kingpin - a few times when I was trying the board would literally chatter a bit and then stop. I noticed Ben barely gets his heel wheel over which seems to prevent the kingpin hitting, so I guess one thing that might help is figuring out how to not overshoot and just only pinch that back heel wheel
@@Quadruple_curious yessir, i finally got em. that’s the idea yeah, just getting the wheel to roll up and then sitting back on it. what helped me a lot is focusing on putting a lot of weight on back toe wheels to get on, then once the heel side wheel pops up onto the curb you transfer your weight to the heel side to pinch it. also sit very backseat, like more than is comfortable. that helps a lot, especially with coming off. good luck homie, it’s a really good feeling trick once you get them down!
@@Quadruple_curious also keep your shoulders closed, like back to the curb. that’ll prevent the boardslides. but make sure to keep your weight on the same side of the curb you came from, or you may overshoot and get that kingpin grind you mentioned.
Sorry to be that guy, but not a slappy - you're just bonking up into a feeble grind. Trust your carve, hit that mini wall ride, and get the front truck on first. Great form and consistency, though, so not trying to be too much of a negative guy here. That said, definitely right about just carving less compared to a fifty. I tend to think of it as this - you carve a little later or a little less for feeble, a little sooner or a little more to dip smith.
That fit is crispy.
That's a nice double sided curb.. Props to who ever built it.
The leaning back is still hard for me, even though I KNOW it’s what I need to do, my subconscious is like “we will fall”

I got into curb skating from videos just like this one, no regrets

Keep the curb trick tutorials coming! Hope to see you explain backside slappy smith and backside 5-0
i couldn't slappy at all and watched your trick tip and got it within the first couple tries
Sweet, I started learning slappies the other week so stoked to try this tomorrow thank you!
This trick tip came in handy. My new skatepark in town put a nice red slappy curb, gonna try to learn them.
Thanks Ben! This was very helpful, keep up the great work!

Great, clean and clear video once again, thanks!!
Ben uploads this just after they installed a double sided curb in my town. Thanks Ben!
Good info bro, I feel you on the Achilles heel issues; I’m 38 and if I have to push a ton, it will feel sore that night.
@handwithshovels does a fantastic feeble tutorial as well. Gonna try these out.
Thank you!!
Great tips. I couldn't work out how to get out of them, I'll be shifting everything back on the next session
Man what a perfect video. Definitely gonna work on this
Handywithshovels taught me how to do this trick but this video provides some good insights. Thanks Ben.
Gonna give this a try. Thanks

Feeble grind grooves are the coolest.. followed by k-grinds...
I see a Ben video I click it my day gets better it's as simple as that
Have a latte on the lower east side and do a feeble grind
Can you review a habitat deck?
