Your never too old to learn and #2 our souls are pretty much the same age its our physical bodies that age. Thats why the term "old soul" when reffering to very young children who are beyond their peers in wisdom is not a coincidence its very real . I myself was one of those children actually too I'm sure alot of us were. Either way awsome information shes sharing! 😄😃 Thankyou
Have made my own brown sugar for years. Find store bought brown sugar doesn't taste the same, and all the baking from granny's old recipes didn't taste the same. Since making my own, it tastes like granny's baking again!!
My uncle taught me how to make home made brown sugar when I was a little girl. I cheerish those wonderful memories of visiting my family and baking with my uncle in the Smokie Mountains of TN.
If you can buy it, you can make it. Icing sugar. Caster sugar. Condensed milk. Evaporated milk. Mozzarella. Many many things. And usually tastes much better.
I do watch them all day lol. I'm 54 and learned so much. I'm making the sour cream the next time I go to the store and buy the stuff! Brown sugar is next.
My wife and I have been watching your videos for only a week and we are super impressed with all the multitasking you are able to do. We wish you nothing but success and blessings in your channel. Did we mentioned that we haven’t seen anything close to your channel, simply AMAZING!!!!!❤️

Yes! Like Lela said, I am learning so much, from you! It’s so funny to say, “I made brown sugar, today.” And vanilla extract, too. “My friend, Becky showed me.” Just ask Becky, she knows everything! 💕🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼💕
Yep, I'll have to start making my own vanilla extract too!! Saves a lot of money to do it her way especially with how expensive everything is today. Get a big jug of booze and add the vanilla beans, ta daa lol.
I learned a lot from her. Today I made my first brown sugar and it was so easy. I’ll try doing the vanilla extract next since I’ve been doing a lot of baking cookies lately.

I have been making my own for about a year. I have to say I felt the same as you. It is such a great feeling to make it and it be better than you can buy and it gives you a good feeling that you have done this yourself. It makes you look to what else you can make for yourself. I followed a receipe the first time and now I just glug the molasses in until it looks the color I want also. Thank you for sharing. My daughter and my soon to bee son in law are staying with us. He likes to cook. He was making something that needed powder sugar and he said you are out, I said just a minute and I will make some. I made it and his guests were so impressed. Then I told them I make my own brown sugar and they just couldn't believe it. Puts a smile on my face.
I tried your “homemade” brown sugar. I am quite a bit older than you. I cook, bake, prepare my family’s meals myself and have been cooking since I was about 14 years old or younger. I didn’t know you could make your own brown sugar!!! I needed brown sugar this week and decided to give your recipe a try and,,,,girl! It was so easy! I like light brown sugar and I was so happy with the results! I will probably never buy brown sugar again! I had the containers like you showed in your video and I used mine as well. YOU ARE A DEDICATED WONDER!!! I can’t wait to see what you do with your new freeze dryer! I’ve had mine since May and I’ve been going crazy with it! It’s truly an amazing investment! I hope you like yours. Love your videos! Dee.
For what its worth I don't go to the bother of making brown sugar. I just substitute granulated sugar in the recipe and add some molasses. BONUS TIP: after wiping molasses drips our of my cupboard for the umpteenth time I put an old peanut butter jar lid under the molasses jar to catch the drips.
I have done this for years. I learned it back in the 1970's in an "equivelant" portion of my cookbook. It told of many things we can substitute, such as mayo if out of eggs.
So sick of brick hard brown sugar will definitely be trying this and thanks for the heads up on the storage containers. I will also be trying your recipe for homemade sour cream what we get in the store is so watery and has no flavor. I commented before about you being a pioneer but what I meant to say was you have a pioneering soul. Going back to more wholesome food through gardening, canning, and from scratch cooking. I have done a lot of this for years but we sold our home of 45 years and moved into a smaller home and yard so no garden we are 74 and 80 and found it all too much to keep up ( but I really miss my garden). You have such a positive view and it is a joy to watch you and learn something new. Hugs Ann

Simple trick here - If your sugar, white, brown, or whatever, should become caked and hard, lay a piece of fresh bread on top and seal the top or lid, and in a day or less the bread absorbs the moisture and your sugar is again soft!! A free tip from a long-time bachelor! S. Carolina
Thanks for that on the brown sugar! And the wide-mouth container tip......how many years have I felt annoyed by having to scoop with a smaller scoop into a one-cup measuring cup! Hi!! In this video you mentioned making molasses cookies. Will you be doing a video on making them?? If not, can you share your recipe? Thanks! Love watching your videos. 🙂
Hi from Northern Ireland. I have noticed over the last few days, your channel subscriptions have exploded! Fantastic news.. Love your channel. Please do more meal preps and perhaps a kitchen cupboard and pantry tour. Take care Caroline
Thank you so much for sharing, I didn't know how to make brown sugar, and I'm learning so much from your videos thank you for your time, sharing and helping
I also really like the wide mouth containers so I can spoon flour into the measuring cups for bread and then scrape off excess without making a mess :)
Mmm ima gonna be trying this as brown sugar is ridiculously priced. I love this channel becky you make me feel i can do what i want and succeed no matter what i want to achieve in the kitchen or garden you have a special presence. Never stop being you. Much love from united kingdom. Xxxxxx✌🧡
I will never buy store bought again. Since watching this video I’ve made my own and spread the love by telling anyone who will listen how to do it themselves. Tyty Becky
You're right. It's so hard to find organic brown sugar and it's expensive. I have a feeling I'm not going back. Thank you for sharing. I prefer dark brown sugar. Until next time.
I had no idea you could make your own brown sugar, or that it is this easy. Wow. Just made some today and I am amazed! How neat, thank you for sharing! Love watching your videos and trying new things out!
This is awesome Becky! Please continue sharing and encouraging us to follow suit. I'd love as many recipe videos as you can put out. I will watch them all! Also thank you for all the resources to buy pantry items in bulk! I am going to start buying from them!
Might I say that I only found your videos this past week & I *love* what you’re doing. You’re bringing me back to my high school home economics class…do schools even teach that anymore, lol? Not to sound condescending, but I’m really proud of you! You’re a class act! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your work. ❤️
My 32 year old niece just learned (yesterday), the difference between a dry ingredient measure cup vs. liquid... I couldn't believe she never knew. Guess when you bake from a box you don't need to know! Convenience is nice but loss of knowledge is a large price.
I am so greatly for your videos. My 5 year goal is to be like this. Slowly switch to mor homemade. I’ve also been replacing a lot of flour recipes with couliflour and it’s very healthy for you low glycemic index unlike normal flour. I have pcos so I have to cut out sugars as much as possible. I would love to be as effecient as you are! Thank you so much for your videos! They help so much
I love these kitchen "hacks", they don't tell us millennials anything! You also shook me when you exposed cream of chicken for the simple recipe it is. Thanks for your wisdom 💕
@@YamiKisara I think you misunderstood my post before going on an internet tangent. I was sharing how my experience as a millennial was one where I wasn't exposed to this back-to-basic wholesome lifestyle and that I appreciate Becky (who is also a millennial) rediscovering it and teaching it to her peers. Have fun generalizing an entire generation of individuals.
Hi! Just found your channel a few days ago & I LOVE it!! Keep the videos coming - I just love the fact that you look as young as you do and that you're doing all these really cool things! Yaaay YOU!! I bet your Mom is just sooo proud of you! 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you so much!! I'm 30 and feel like I came to the game late! So thanks so much!! I'm glad you are here :) I'm on IG if you want to see my daily goings on. I do a lot of daily updates there at AcreHomestead
Love that you say "glug", totally something I'd say 😆 I love this idea. I have the same issues with store bought brown sugar, and often you don't need much when you buy it so it sits and sits and just takes up space. This way, you make it as needed and it's less to store afterwards 👍
Brown sugar is the only time I will use anything containing molasses. You are so right about store bought brown sugar. it gets so hard that I would have to microwave it for about 30 to 60 seconds to soften it up.
I just found your channel and you are amazing! I love to do freezer meals especially for the colder months, there's nothing better than to come home after a hard day's work and have a homemade meal without all the hassle. And I put all the directions with them so my husband can cook too. I only wish I was as organized as you are. Keep up the good work!
Finally someone that uses the same measuring technique that I use. My family always asks how much of this or that do you put in and I have no definitive answer for them other than a "big pinch" or something like that lol. I am going to borrow your term "glug" just because I loved it
I have been making my brown sugar for years! Molasses cookies are my new favorite! Oh I can't wait to try your recipe!! Yippee!! And the molasses granola is the best! I never measure the molasses for brown sugar, I just add more sugar. Oh lordie, I have never used my Kitchen Aid to mix, but you better believe I will from now on! It's also great in steel cut oats! Will you post a pick of your chickens please? I can't wait to have my own!
I have just made my first batch and am so pleased with it! Taste lovely! cost comparison, ready made, 1 kg white sugar = $1.00. 1 kg brown sugar = 2.87!!! So I save nearly $ 2.00 per kg by making my own. Have you tried making sugar using maple syrup or honey instead of molasses? I am enjoying your site so much, you are such an intelligent young lady, and love the way you approach life with an open mind and "can do" attitude!
I just add in the molasses with the wet ingredients when I'm baking so I don't even have to store the brown sugar. I just make it on the fly so nothing to store or potentially harden later. Been doing this for years as well. We buy sugar by the 50lbs and molasses by the gallon, so this is very economical.
I've been making mine for years. I live in rural Alaska and figured out how to do it by copying ingredients from an empty bag of brown sugar. Thank goodness for the kitchen aid, lol.
I had no idea this was how brown sugar was made. I thought it was less processed white sugar. I'm making this tomorrow. Thank you. Now I'm going to research icing sugar to see if I can make that.
I'm just going to join the chorus of people whose minds have been blown as we discover your channel for the first time. I'm like 4 videos in and I'm fascinated by you! Excellent channel! You are on a level you should have a legit TV show! ❤ Thanks for your content.
Thank you! I just ran out of Brown sugar and you have opened my mind. It would never had crossed my mind to mix sugar and molasses. I like the idea of just mixing the amount I need as I need it. Thank you for sharing!
Acre Homestead, I so loved the idea to make your own brown sugar. I saw you vidéo a couple of month ago, liked it of course and cane back to watch again tonight (it is quite late, but I am taking notes this time !!!! And I am definitely making it tomorrow,.. miam miam Thank sweetie for this lovely idea … I count on you teaching me a few tricks and I trust I will be learning a lot from you, young lady. I am subscribed since last time, and I will look into all your videos in case I ca fins are pie just easy as this one ! Oh, oh ONE IMPORTANT QUESTION PLEASE : how do I keep my brown sugar from hardening in storage ….????
I love you and your videos. Just one thing though, I wouldn't have added my new batch of brown sugar to the older batch. I would have started with a new clean container and used the old batch first.
🙋♀️ question; after making brown sugar- how do you store the molasses? Does it store in the pantry for long term in the same container or transfer to a mason jar? How long would you say the brown sugar lasts in your pantry?
Thanks Becky for the great video! Just whipped up my first batch of brown sugar, I have to say don’t care for the smell of molasses and that obviously translates to the homemade brown sugar but I can’t wait to make something with it
I am 45 and have never given a single thought to what brown sugar was. I just mindlessly bought it from the store and if I ran out, I had to go back to the store. I’m going to make my own for all our upcoming holiday baking. As far as those containers, I own a bunch of them and they are amazing. They keep out moisture, hold in moisture and keep critters out so food lasts longer. I have used them to store all my flours and sugars forever and I won’t use anything else.
Hi Becky, I want to say I have learned so much from you. I now have started my first garden, and I have just pick my first bell peppers, squash, and tomatoes, and they are perfect! "So excited!" QUESTION: I purchased organic Blackstrap Molases from Azure Standard, is blackstrap ok with this recipe? Thank you so much Becky.

She has a pantry tour video already. I scrolled through her videos and found it and watched it yesterday.
Thank you so much for sharing, I didn't know how to make brown sugar, and I'm learning so much from your videos thank you for your time, sharing and helping
I also really like the wide mouth containers so I can spoon flour into the measuring cups for bread and then scrape off excess without making a mess :)
Smart!
That is so easy!!! I never even thought about making my own brown sugar. You are so smart!! Thank you.
I’m so shook right now. This legit changes everything. ❤️❤️
I love those containers too! I use them for everything. Another bonus is they stack very efficiently.
They are the best!
omg this blew my mind :O I had no idea it was this easy to make
Mmm ima gonna be trying this as brown sugar is ridiculously priced.
I really can’t say how much your videos have inspired me to learn to bake/cook from scratch. You make it seem so fun and easy. I love it!
Amazing! I live in Paris where brown sugar is only found at insane prices in the American shop. I’ll start making my own, thanks to you !!
I’ll definitely be trying this, it didn’t even occur to me that I could make my own!! Thank you Becky xx
Me too! Would love the jambalaya video.
Have you looked into milling your own flour yet? The health benefits are amazing. I just bought a flour mill can't wait till it gets here!
This excites me as much as when I figured out you could make your own baking powder and how to make ricotta from scratch! Awesome!
Make your own baking powder! Say what 🤯 *runs to google machine*
They help so much
Yay! Thank you, Samie for watching!
Thanks Becky! I have never made homemade brown sugar or even read about how to, so I am so thrilled learning from you once again today!
Thanks Becky, just started canning in May. Just made my own Br sugar! 🥳🥳
Your awesome!!! 😘♥️👍🏼🥳👏🏼
I make this all the time now. Thanks Becky!
Good info. I use old glass gallon pickle jars for staples in my pantry. No problem dealing with small opening. Thanks. I'm enjoying this site.
Mouse/ bug proof glass essential in old country home.
I love these kitchen "hacks", they don't tell us millennials anything! You also shook me when you exposed cream of chicken for the simple recipe it is. Thanks for your wisdom 💕
You're welcome
Love that you say "glug", totally something I'd say 😆
I love this idea. I have the same issues with store bought brown sugar, and often you don't need much when you buy it so it sits and sits and just takes up space. This way, you make it as needed and it's less to store afterwards 👍
It's so good too!
Brown sugar is the only time I will use anything containing molasses. You are so right about store bought brown sugar. it gets so hard that I would have to microwave it for about 30 to 60 seconds to soften it up.
Becky can you tell us a bit about your upbringing? Your mature beyond your years, very proud of you. Watching from Australia. Becky x
i was homeschool till mid highschool. then got my dental hygiene license through the comminty college. i have lived in the PNW all my life!
I homeschooled mine till middle school too. Huge advantage for my children.
My kids are homeschooled too but my second son will go back this fall second year high school. He wants to experience the world and I am scared.
I have been shopping with Azure Standard for 30 years. Glad to see you have found them.
Me too!
I like that you take what you have learned and made it your own process that works for you. Your suggestions are fantastic.
Glad you like them!
I always store my such brown sugar (not raw, naturally brown sugar) in an airtight container or jam jar in the fridge, that way it never goes hard. 🤗
Didn't know that you can do this, I'll be doing this soon. Need to get those containers. Best personality easy to watch thank you
I just found your channel and you are amazing! I love to do freezer meals especially for the colder months, there's nothing better than to come home after a hard day's work and have a homemade meal without all the hassle. And I put all the directions with them so my husband can cook too. I only wish I was as organized as you are. Keep up the good work!
easy hot meals are the best!
I haven't that sounds interesting!! I'm glad you saved so much!!
Do you have the exact measurements?
Yay!!
I'm just going to join the chorus of people whose minds have been blown as we discover your channel for the first time. I'm like 4 videos in and I'm fascinated by you! Excellent channel! You are on a level you should have a legit TV show! ❤ Thanks for your content.
Wow thank you!
Just made it and you're right taste exactly how I remembered it as a kid.
Thank you! I just ran out of Brown sugar and you have opened my mind. It would never had crossed my mind to mix sugar and molasses. I like the idea of just mixing the amount I need as I need it. Thank you for sharing!
I'm glad it's helpful!
I wanted to make cookies, but found out I was out. I found a recipe online and loved it! So much tastier than store bought
Acre Homestead, I so loved the idea to make your own brown sugar. I saw you vidéo a couple of month ago, liked it of course and cane back to watch again tonight (it is quite late, but I am taking notes this time !!!!
And I am definitely making it tomorrow,.. miam miam
Thank sweetie for this lovely idea … I count on you teaching me a few tricks and I trust I will be learning a lot from you, young lady.
I am subscribed since last time, and I will look into all your videos in case I ca fins are pie just easy as this one !
Oh, oh ONE IMPORTANT QUESTION PLEASE : how do I keep my brown sugar from hardening in storage ….????
I want to thank you for this video! This has been a total game changer for me!!
This works perfectly, and I'm not tossing out Store Bought brown sugar.
Thanks!
I bought oval shaped measuring cups to fit into my glass storage containers!
I love you and your videos. Just one thing though, I wouldn't have added my new batch of brown sugar to the older batch. I would have started with a new clean container and used the old batch first.
So glad I found your channel! You are such a talent and make things so user friendly! 😊
It's so pretty! I've never made my own brown sugar, but I have adapted recipes when I was out by adding molasses.
It's so yummy!
Yesssss, luv luv luv my Chef's Path containers... I also put my rice, dried beans, dry milk and pasta in them too
Love it!!
🙋♀️ question; after making brown sugar- how do you store the molasses? Does it store in the pantry for long term in the same container or transfer to a mason jar? How long would you say the brown sugar lasts in your pantry?
Thanks Becky for the great video! Just whipped up my first batch of brown sugar, I have to say don’t care for the smell of molasses and that obviously translates to the homemade brown sugar but I can’t wait to make something with it
Hopefully the taste is worth it! :)
I had no idea how to make brown sugar thank you for sharing you recipe.
I just started watching about a month ago, just love it . You are such a very intelligent women. Keep up the good work😀
Amazing I cannot believe how easy you made it 🥰 Thank You Becky 💕 I am learning so much 💕
