Your never too old to learn and #2 our souls are pretty much the same age its our physical bodies that age. Thats why the term "old soul" when reffering to very young children who are beyond their peers in wisdom is not a coincidence its very real . I myself was one of those children actually too I'm sure alot of us were. Either way awsome information shes sharing! 😄😃 Thankyou

I have been making my own for about a year. I have to say I felt the same as you. It is such a great feeling to make it and it be better than you can buy and it gives you a good feeling that you have done this yourself. It makes you look to what else you can make for yourself. I followed a receipe the first time and now I just glug the molasses in until it looks the color I want also. Thank you for sharing. My daughter and my soon to bee son in law are staying with us. He likes to cook. He was making something that needed powder sugar and he said you are out, I said just a minute and I will make some. I made it and his guests were so impressed. Then I told them I make my own brown sugar and they just couldn't believe it. Puts a smile on my face.

I tried your “homemade” brown sugar. I am quite a bit older than you. I cook, bake, prepare my family’s meals myself and have been cooking since I was about 14 years old or younger. I didn’t know you could make your own brown sugar!!! I needed brown sugar this week and decided to give your recipe a try and,,,,girl! It was so easy! I like light brown sugar and I was so happy with the results! I will probably never buy brown sugar again! I had the containers like you showed in your video and I used mine as well. YOU ARE A DEDICATED WONDER!!! I can’t wait to see what you do with your new freeze dryer! I’ve had mine since May and I’ve been going crazy with it! It’s truly an amazing investment! I hope you like yours. Love your videos! Dee.

For what its worth I don't go to the bother of making brown sugar. I just substitute granulated sugar in the recipe and add some molasses. BONUS TIP: after wiping molasses drips our of my cupboard for the umpteenth time I put an old peanut butter jar lid under the molasses jar to catch the drips.

So sick of brick hard brown sugar will definitely be trying this and thanks for the heads up on the storage containers. I will also be trying your recipe for homemade sour cream what we get in the store is so watery and has no flavor. I commented before about you being a pioneer but what I meant to say was you have a pioneering soul. Going back to more wholesome food through gardening, canning, and from scratch cooking. I have done a lot of this for years but we sold our home of 45 years and moved into a smaller home and yard so no garden we are 74 and 80 and found it all too much to keep up ( but I really miss my garden). You have such a positive view and it is a joy to watch you and learn something new. Hugs Ann

Love that you say "glug", totally something I'd say 😆
I love this idea. I have the same issues with store bought brown sugar, and often you don't need much when you buy it so it sits and sits and just takes up space. This way, you make it as needed and it's less to store afterwards 👍

Brown sugar is the only time I will use anything containing molasses. You are so right about store bought brown sugar. it gets so hard that I would have to microwave it for about 30 to 60 seconds to soften it up.

I always store my such brown sugar (not raw, naturally brown sugar) in an airtight container or jam jar in the fridge, that way it never goes hard. 🤗

I just found your channel and you are amazing! I love to do freezer meals especially for the colder months, there's nothing better than to come home after a hard day's work and have a homemade meal without all the hassle. And I put all the directions with them so my husband can cook too. I only wish I was as organized as you are. Keep up the good work!

Finally someone that uses the same measuring technique that I use. My family always asks how much of this or that do you put in and I have no definitive answer for them other than a "big pinch" or something like that lol. I am going to borrow your term "glug" just because I loved it

I have been making my brown sugar for years! Molasses cookies are my new favorite! Oh I can't wait to try your recipe!! Yippee!! And the molasses granola is the best!
I never measure the molasses for brown sugar, I just add more sugar. Oh lordie, I have never used my Kitchen Aid to mix, but you better believe I will from now on! It's also great in steel cut oats!
Will you post a pick of your chickens please? I can't wait to have my own!

I have just made my first batch and am so pleased with it! Taste lovely! cost comparison, ready made, 1 kg white sugar = $1.00. 1 kg brown sugar = 2.87!!! So I save nearly $ 2.00 per kg by making my own.
Have you tried making sugar using maple syrup or honey instead of molasses?
I am enjoying your site so much, you are such an intelligent young lady, and love the way you approach life with an open mind and "can do" attitude!

I just add in the molasses with the wet ingredients when I'm baking so I don't even have to store the brown sugar. I just make it on the fly so nothing to store or potentially harden later. Been doing this for years as well. We buy sugar by the 50lbs and molasses by the gallon, so this is very economical.

I've been making mine for years. I live in rural Alaska and figured out how to do it by copying ingredients from an empty bag of brown sugar. Thank goodness for the kitchen aid, lol.

I had no idea this was how brown sugar was made. I thought it was less processed white sugar. I'm making this tomorrow. Thank you. Now I'm going to research icing sugar to see if I can make that.

🙋‍♀️ question; after making brown sugar- how do you store the molasses? Does it store in the pantry for long term in the same container or transfer to a mason jar? How long would you say the brown sugar lasts in your pantry?

I am 45 and have never given a single thought to what brown sugar was. I just mindlessly bought it from the store and if I ran out, I had to go back to the store. I’m going to make my own for all our upcoming holiday baking. As far as those containers, I own a bunch of them and they are amazing. They keep out moisture, hold in moisture and keep critters out so food lasts longer. I have used them to store all my flours and sugars forever and I won’t use anything else.

QUESTION: I purchased organic Blackstrap Molases from Azure Standard, is blackstrap ok with this recipe? Thank you so much Becky.
