Management of Dangote Industries Ltd, DIL, has accused the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) in granting licenses indiscriminately to marketers to import dirty refined products into the country. This was disclosed by the vice president DIL, Devakumar Edwin while speaking to a group of Energy Editors at a one-day training program organized by the Dangote Group.
He said that recently the government of Ghana through legislation has banned the importation of highly contaminated diesel and PMS into their country saying that it is regrettable that in Nigeria import licenses are despite knowing that Dangote has the capacity to produce nearly double the amount of products needed in Nigeria and even export the surplus. This video examines Dangote's apparent aim and the implications for diesel importers and Nigerian consumers.

Why importing when we can produce in surplus of the same products?
Lies!
Fg must support Dangote. All the other western countries help their major businesses
@ ekeneokere5898, No government helps monopolistic private companies !!! Actually, the government breaks them up into smaller companies to promote competition !!! Dangote is a spoiled brat. He acquired his wealth through shady means. It's not black and white !!!
If it is true that they are importing high unregulated diesel fuel in Nigeria, the government should look into it because of
health concerns related to sulfur dioxide (SO2) exposure include respiratory problems and lung damage. Tree, plant, and stone damage, acid rain, and haze are some of the environmental effects of sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions.
Sulfur reduction in diesel fuel has also enabled the use of advanced emission control devices in modern diesel engines
Energy security is a strategic national priority .
FG should support Dangote and other local producers to succeed and ban importation of these products.
Dangote made over 15 billion dollars investment in that refinery
Why importation when Nigeria has a refinery? You must be sent by the cabals on image damaging. Nigerians are wise. Those importers should set up a refinery here to employ Nigerians and pay tax.
I also want FG to ban importation!!! not just dangote, everyone agrees with this
you dont understand. if diesel importation is banned, prices will rise across the board. dangote refineries is not productive enough to supply the demand of the country and the prices will respond to this
@@divinefavour1289 it is productive enough to the tune of 650 k bbd! it needs supply. so FG should ban it still
@@chiefs5822 and you think that is enough to service the needs of everyone in the country cheaply? talk less of giving dangote a monopoly, everyone will be at his mercy
Dangote is not a free market businessman. He has always been spoonfed by the federal government. He is not your typical rags- to - riches, self made tycoon. Even his cement industry is a monopoly just handed to him with his northern connections and with no serious competition. Dangote Refinery has, as a domestic producer, a massive foreign exchange advantage over the importers. Including the advantage of the crude oil delivered to him from across the street with no foreign delivery costs and associated headaches !!! Yet he is complaining. He should stand up and compete like any other person and stop whining like a baby !!!
Compete with who? Last month The United States government increases import duty to 100% on all China electric vehicle to support domestic electric vehicle manufacturers.
No government in any country are into building or producing any thing. Govt are there to promote and protect local business. Did you hear about banning TikTok in USA? Govt has no choice than to promote, protect and invest in Local businesses, that is the only way you build a country.
Are you slow... why would you want your country to import refined oil? Why not refine your own oil?
