I absolutely loved this box! Total smash hit. I do love the diy potions, I love both options. Making them myself makes me feel a part of the wizarding world, so i appreciate that. They only take a few minutes to make and i am also thankful for the wax this time too. We did gwt a red one with the last diy. Just light the wick and let it drip. I used my scale wax seal from the ministry box for the top. I also shed a tear with the final memories vial. I just loved this box. I cant wait for the good vs evil box. They say its going to be one of the best. Exciting! 😊

Instead of the diy potion, they should have given a mortal and pestle. They could have made the mortal in the shape of a cauldron. That would have been cool!

I wish they provided everything to properly do it. Ie if you are going to provide the wax then include the seal as that is the point of the wax on potions. 🤷♀️🤪

Hi! We are glad you enjoyed your box!
We did just want to chime in on the DIY potions, becuase there are a few reasons why we have done them with the bottles we have.
One of the main reasons is it adds an interactive element to the box and the feedback from I would say 98% of our subscribers is super positive.
It also allows us to offer larger bottles in general. We have weight restrictions for international boxes and a bottle of this sizes weight would be almost half the alloted weight of the whole box. (With the exception of the Keep Collecting Box, Peter wanted a potion that could be brewed as if you were in potions club making a potion)
But we would like everyone to know that it doesn't have anything to do with the makers being lazy and/or cheap as it cost more to do it this way and takes 2 to 3 times longer to bottle every single ingredient, and package everything seperatly.
The bottles freezing isnt really an issue we are trying to avoid with DIY Potions, there are things that can be added to the liquid to keep it from freezing so thats not particularly an issue.
We just consider them to be a simple, yet fun way for subscribers to be able to add larger potions to their collections, that should take less than 5 minutes or so to assemble.
I just thought I would jump in and offer some insight!

I absolutely agree, I love making the potions. It makes you feel a little bit like a witch. I love both options. Btw the snowball potion was so beautiful! The last few boxes have been amazing, and the potions master box made me tear up several times. Thank you for all you do for us. 💙

And thank you for chimming in and backing me up here. I’ve had a couple comments about the DIY switch being about freezing/leaking, with no basis back it. To be clear, I was not the one stating this but others, as seen below (and on previous videos). It felt assumptive to me when others made that comment and I always rather hear direct from the source. Though, to be fair, I don’t think anyone, including me, had called anyone lazy. 😊
While I have you here, do you know if you’ll be providing a seal in future DIYs, so that the wax can be sealed?

@@LoveLumos We definitely had considered doing that! We just dont want to use the Pure Blood Apothecary one, becuase it's their actual logo so we wouldn't want to distribute it out to everyone 🤣
But we will come out with one for sure, probably with or before the next DIY! Just keep an eye out!
But the majority of our potions will still be completed potions for sure, unless we come across a really nice larger potion bottle that we cant ship filled!
We will also be releasing a Perfect Potions box soon that will be all about potions and pins! But dont tell anyone, its a secret! 🤫

I got the fame potion. I have seen the death one.
The dining set does not suscribe to the theme of the box!
The potions in the winter months have a problem with breakage and leaks! The DIY potions are the best way to counter act this problem ( and loss of profit.)
This is the second scale TWT put out. This scale is more true to being ballanced than the brass one!
The book box is for the potion pages that are being sent!

On potions in the winter, I find that to be an excuse. I’ve not seen people who sell things in liquid or shops that sell potions stop
selling them in winter. They just do a good job of protecting them. It would have to be hella cold to do that and TWT has done it prior, and I've had no issue. TWT also doesn't stop selling their premade potions (in their shop) in the winter.
I will comment in the next vid, two more reasons why I have an issue with this. I can say, they don’t sell as well as the potions (though I keep the made potions, I can just see sold prices of those vs diys) and it’s clear to me, based on the market, that many feel the same.

@@LoveLumosBefore you started doing these reviews, they had several instances where reviewers recieved bottles that leaked. Also the memory vials were broken. These problems usually happened in the winter. Also people complained how the wax was not dripped on to look runny. I can not blame them if they went the DIY route. This way the bottles do not leak, people can wax the top like they want to, or not at all!
@@annettemalaski1967 That is the nature of things that can break with liquid. Though, with regard to a leak, that’s a sign that they didn’t properly seal it. But they still sent a vial (a more narrow glass item with a liquid, more breakable), and still sell their premade potions in the winter (to which winter is at different times depending on where you live) which tells me they are okay sending that. Not to mention, even with diys, liquids are being sent. The argument doesn’t hold. It is clear to us they are cutting costs.
@@LoveLumos while we have had potions break in the past, thats the nature of shipping a liquid and trusting a postal service with a liquid filled glass vessel and expecting them to handle it with care. Also drippy wax or lack of drippy wax was never a consideration of why we have chose to do a few diy potion kits lol. The reasoning is in a main comment on the video.

I thought so too! It's a lot more useful, for me, than a book cover and it felt like them taking their book cover ideas and doing something more different. I still wish the foiling wasn't on the words, makes it less in world, maybe a green on the potion, but it's one I'm considering keeping anyway, even if at the muggle job.

I just opened this box yesterday with high hopes since I love me some potions and a certain potion master and I was not disappointed. I was a little bummed with the last bimonthly, but they redeemed themselves with this one. My least fav was the plastic patronus, which could have been done better, but overall very happy since my subscription continuation was on the line..can't wait for the next..
I too was a bit bummed in the last one, and the quarterly, but this felt like a step in a direction I love to see! Ya I found an issue with my patronus (post recording) but I reached out and they quickly and kindly got back to me, and are sending a replacement. I'm excited for the next one too!
I just opened mine with you and I was really impressed! My favorite is the vial of course. I wish the Doe were glass, but I understand why it’s not - it felt like a happy meal prize, enjoyable but could be better (I still appreciate the fact that we got a Patronus). This is my first DIY potion so I’ll have fun with it. The spoons are beautiful and nicely made. The scale is pretty cool! I liked the pin and the book box with notepad but I won’t keep them. I’m on the fence with the tee. It fits well and is so soft that I might keep it. And oh, the potions printed on the box are beautiful, I want them lol

I think that's totally fair, maybe an S.S., as they've done before on potions, before the words 'final memories.'
Oh I love this box, I think it’s my favourite TWT one for quite a while. I also love the complexity of Snape’s character which is why he is one of the most interesting for me. I actually think I would keep all the items in this box, I would wear the T-shirt as it could be in world, I like the doe and it would look perfect on my shelf, as would the scales. I like their size as it would fit in with a few cauldrons I have. The spoons are beautiful and it’s great to have Wizarding world items for the kitchen. The pin is not my favourite but I appreciate the idea behind it and would display it with my other pins.
The art work is well done and I would probably display the second one at the back of my potions shelf if it would fit as I like the idea of the different ingredients.
As for the great DIY potions debate 😂 I definitely prefer the ready made ones as I really love TWT potions but I also think it would be fun to make them. I would only worry that I wouldn’t do them justice as I am not very creative so that could be an added stress. I understand TWT reasoning behind the DIY’s now that they have explained it and it makes sense. I did love the bottle in this box so would possibly buy it from the shop as I don’t subscribe but will buy items that I love 💙💙💙

That's what I was trying to hint at in Discord, that I enjoyed this one so much more too! 😜I 💯% feel the same about Snape. He's one of my favorite characters because of his complexity. I also have a soft spot for the misunderstood and he definitely is. Matt always says the story really was about him, and that always makes me tear up to think.
I LOVED the spoons too!!! I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the set but the spoons have me warming up to it more and more. I'm curious to see the future additions to it. I love JP Mistlecrow's stuff so I'm rarely disappointed in the art. 💖
I appreciate your laughy face, as I didn't really view it as a 'debate,' but I suppose that's fair, in looking back. 😊I too prefer the premade ones. I will say, don't underestimate yourself in what you can do. I have more thoughts on it, as I felt a bit misunderstood, but I'm really grateful that they chimed in to share more. It's always best to hear direct from the source. I've since reached out, asking for an open line of communication, so that when I have questions or anyone else does, we can get info straight from them.
I will say, it's not going to stop me from being honest and sharing my feelings. And I hope people continue to share how they feel, what they liked and didn't. We don't and won't always like the same things and discussion is always a good thing, when kind. 🥰

I liked that TWT came to the comments to explain the thinking behind the potions and as I said it definitely makes sense. People often get very defensive about things that they love but I do dislike it when people are rude as anything can be expressed quite strongly while remaining polite. Maybe that’s my Britishness coming out but I really don’t enjoy it when people say things that they wouldn’t be comfortable saying to your face 🤷♀️
Anyway moving on from the negativity, keep doing what you are doing as I really enjoy it 🎄🎄🎄

I do wish, sometimes, that I wasn't such a highly sensitive person, as we had much discussion last night and I got in my head too much. But he's always there to balance me out.
I have learned I'm not replying during the muggle job as much. 🤪I was at work when this discussion was going on. And I always get so excited that someone bothered to share something, even if their feelings are different (and why I'm adamant on responding), that I don't want them feeling unheard and will even pop in the bathroom to try and quickly reply. But quick isn't always best, for my well being and all. I

We got this one so fast, no one else had an unboxing up yet. But Rod and I just didn't feel like mucking with it, I prefer to watch yours, haha. The holidays are so busy and I like watching someone else do it. It's soothing and I don't have to stress the Muggle lighting and our magic making tech go wonky, as it always does. I adore potions and enjoyed this box well enough.

Haha Rod and I describe ourselves as Gothic, not Goth, there is a difference, Gothic has the old world feel, Goth is modern, and we are Gothic and proud.
We love those book boxes, and I chose to use this one for some of our gemstone wands taht live in velvets bags. Severus approves. LOL.

Oh I can't watch back my videos, its painful! I have a particular witchy friend who always assures me that I sound fine but I can't...
I kept the potion bottle as a water bottle so I cal keep it Gothic and old fashioned while out at the gem, so did not use hthe potion making stuff. With the last tall square bottle for stevia. I can pore it without it mking a mess and if one uses a spoon in a large bag of the stuff, it floats up and makes a mess no bloody matter what you do. I love the kitchen being more magical.
Oh I got a spoon in my potions thing but it goes all the way down into the bottle, so I'd not use it for that, but it's black looking and has a wand like round handle so I am keeping it for a stirring spoon. Severus would def like that and no he is not getting mine. haha.
The pin had 3 options and we also got glory.
We don't care about the scale so my darling sister Cissy is trading me some of her custom made soaps for it so she can give it to a friend of hers who has a lot of old things. And don't judge her for making her own soaps, she lost her elf, you know. *cackles*
I honestly had to get rid of/sel the Doe Patronus rubbish bits because Lily being his Patronus is so illogical it hurts my soul. Look a doe is a reflection of James Potter's deer and no one seems to think about this. Patronus is your happy place and no way can a person's happy place be a reminder that someone you supposedly loved chose your enemy. It's James Potter's bloody Patronus in female version for Merlin's sake and Snape is a grudge holding mother. I'm fine with that, but you know, that just can't be someone's happy place. Maybe her original Patronus. But I really never got the Snape Lily thing either. I love Rowling as much as anyone, but she has a perpensity for toxic love which is sad for me.

Ya, we didn't leave in the bit where I read off there being three options for the pin, when I read the cheat sheet.
I did think there was some creativity with the scale. I was going to keep it but I'm more not keeping it because I prefer a scale the size that would likely be used (which they obviously wouldn't be able to fit in this box 🤣).
I read your comment to Matt about Snape. He and I agree, that our view of Snape was always (get it, always, hehe) that the ONLY happiness he ever really experienced in his life was with Lily, which is why it makes sense to me.
Well you know we're into the theories, so Roddy and I think that sort of thing out a lot. Thing is were snape so into lily, that it's the happiest moment in his life even if it now represents james potter, that's got to be some heavy joy, why insult her when she's defending him like that? I mean I get the general reasons, but if someone is soooo special to you, It should over ride all other less heart warming reasons. It just doesn't ad up and really turns him into someone in consistant and illogical which he doesn't seem to be + to be inconsistant and illogical with your most precious of preciouses? I honestly feel she's projecting her messed up relationship onto many of her characters. I'm too into psychology but I do study people and I'm quite mad so I'd know. LOL. But he'll always be one of my top favorite people in spite of taht odd romantic unnecessary that really makes a lot of people dislike him which I'm thinking was not her intention. If you're liking it, though, it's cool, at least it counts for something.

i wonder if they changed to DIY because the potions were getting broken in transit. I had two boxes that came with broken potions and wet items. Overall, it was a great box!

I love Snape as well .. More so I loved Alan Rickman ... Was a huge fan long before Harry Potter .. I am more of a one off person then a box kind of person.. I do many DIY potions . Like the scale .. Oh I LOVE that!!! I love Alan Rickman so much too!! I wish I had also watched him for much longer but it was Snape that introduced me to him. He always seemed like such an eloquent, intelligent, well crafted man.
I’d love to see your DIY potions! We plan on doing some as well, but want to get all of our ducks in a row so we can get them just the way we really want. I’d prefer a proper scale too and a bigger one, but I did think it great otherwise.

4:17 this t shirt wasn’t for me. I felt it was a bit underwhelming on the font, yet like the different designs front and back. Oh the shirt toss is a good touch :)
Same for me. I appreciate that it's more my color (for the base shirt) but it felt too basic for me. BUT they did hint at moving away from the staff tees, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do. 👀
I love and enjoy the diy potions it is also a great way to put out larger Potion bottles without having to pay a fortune to ship it. And if a big bottle full of that much liquid broke it could destroy everything. Definitely a smart business decision and most people enjoy the chance to join in the fun, use some creativity and customize some of their own items. You and everyone deserves to have their own opinions that is one of life's many blessings and something tells me if that box said Magic Delivered on it you'd be praising the potion and quick to put it together 😊 in my opinion of course.
Oh, that's a firm no. Both of us just don't like the DIY potions in sub boxes, and if you watch our comparison video (of all three) or the other videos, I'm critical of all.
@lovelumos I subscribe to almost all of the boxes related to the wizarding world and I'm not bais to any I have opinions for all of them like everyone else but I've watched a couple other videos you put out and it just seems like you have alot of negative things to say about this particular box. Idk when The Wizarding Trunk started so I've definitely missed some boxes but I've watched ALOT of unboxings from before I joined and they always looked to have put so much effort in their boxes so the cheeky comment made it sound like you were saying they were lazy about doing a diy item and that is just rude honestly.

@@sarahestep8783 The DIY potion kits are not things we enjoy, but you and others enjoy them, it is what it is. It is not a slight on Wizarding Trunk or Pure Blood Apothecary to say it and it is not a slight on them to say we enjoy their potions and don't want to put the work in ourselves to achieve the end result. We understand making the kit takes effort, but it's just not the same and that is fine, but it can be disappointing to open a box and find out you have a lot of work ahead of you if you want a potion at the level of one that would have been sent. If you can't see that, that's fine, but at least acknowledge that it will take work to make it look good. Again, no slight on anyone that likes them, we just don't have time to make it and make it look good enough and therefore they are in the "miss" pile every time, it just comes down to what you like and have time for.
Speaking on the "alot of negative things to say about this particular box", that is because, for a long time, the boxes had the same setup. Meaning that you could expect a lot of the same looking things every time, it happens that those particular items were not things we enjoyed (mostly the book covers really) and that is gonna come up when they are in the box, it is what it is. The statues, for instance, started off fine (we have one on the shelf right now), but the paint jobs started to get a little sloppy, it is the same thing that would be pointed out on any item from any box.
