I just made 3 mistakes , the biggest was trying to do this at night with minimal light. I broke one side of the front connector, and I removed the screw from the top connector. Other than that it was easy and my check engine light went away immeadiately after I connected the new battery and started the car. I couldnt have done it without your video. Thanks.
hey i have 2018 chevy malibu and the battery need a replacement. i was thinking to replace it by myself but i read some articles on internet you need a backup memory to replace a car battery! so in your case did you use a backup memory on your car?

@@WorkingWithWimberley I meant start stop functionality (it stops the engine when you are waiting for green light). they usually recommend agm kinda batteries for this functionality because it can kill the battery

@@WorkingWithWimberley They're connected to the battery terminal to the computer, which then regulates the charging process for that battery and its life cycle, when its disconnected and a new battery is installed it confuses the computer, which then has to be reset by a technician and can only be done with the scanner, so changing our own batteries is now a thing of the past with new cars that are fully controlled and monitored by the cars computer.
I didn’t have any issues. I also didn’t have the battery out long. I didn’t even lose radio presets. I’ve never used a memory saver before, but I know some guys swear by them.

@@asmodeus1274 It’s hit or miss. I didn’t lose any settings or stations, but I did the swap fairly quickly. If the battery is out for long enough, you could lose those things. I’m not against a memory saver and I think they’re good. I just don’t own one. If you’re concerned about keeping the settings, it may be worth while to purchase one.

I just can't get that cover off the positive side. I loosen the screw to the left, and got that clip on the left as well. It feels like it's hanging up on something in the middle. The connection on the post moves freely. It's not hung there.
@@brickbrouwer9011 If you pause the video at 2:38 you can see where. There’s a part on the left that’s near the radiator hose that you can see where it’s clipped and a part hanging down by my thumb and index finger on my right hand where it’s clipped.
My wife’s 2021 battery is low , my brother in law tested it and it’s reading 11.9 volts , then with a load it’s reading 10 volts . Not only that it’s showing two codes .

Yes, everything will work. But if you have the battery out for too long, you might lose your radio and memory presets.

Do the newer malibus have two batteries? The second one being for the stop/start

Correct me if I'm wrong but on the newer models don't you have to use an OBD2 scanner to reset the battery sensor after replacing the battery?
I’ve heard of people hooking up memory savers to the OBD2 port to save radio presets and things like that. I’m not familiar with a battery sensor.

Hey did u have to register the battery I needed it replaced the battery place said the battery needs to be registered meaning by the dealer ?
No I didn’t register it. They must be talking about a warranty for the new battery. But I don’t know why you’d need the dealership for that.

There’s two parts where it’s clipped on the battery. You should be able to get it off if you gently pry with a flat screwdriver.
