Subaru STi - EJ207 upgrade

- Warwick from GotitRex gives his own Subaru a run down the 1/4 mile. The car is a good example of a well tuned, yet responsive street Subaru featuring a relatively stockish JDM 2L engine with Blouch turbo @ 30psi boost on flex fuel E85. The car still features a Subaru STi clutch.

i wish you guys actually interviewed the owners to talk about their cars and whats involved. Warwick is a great guy and knows his shit, it would have been cool to see him talk about his build.
Reading the the mods done to this i feel like buying one on carsales and doing this for a everyday traffic light to traffic light killer.
My sort of thinking too.... who needs a v8 that kills everything after 90km....also I've seen the same chassis sti do 11.40 with only 280awkw...also I'm sure v8 would drink 2x more when you need to feed an extran 4 pistons with bigger piston bore
@@jmoore9806 not only that the money you need to spend on a V8 to do 11.5sec 1/4 is a lot more
Just as well Warwick only told his mother after the event :)
Not bad given the mods and power. He's about to graze the 10s club.
What a wonderful piece of machinery, simple and fast, i like it.
For esceptics to see what kind of results you can make off stock block with proper assembly and tuning
That thing moves! Tune and driver are on point 👌. Do you know what the ignition curve looked like under boost? I'm trying to dial in my 2.1L stroker on a similarly sized 53mm turbo
Can't wait to 207 swap my bug haha
I hope you mean bug eye subaru not vw bug 😂😂. I mean either is a good swap
Great car love seeing a subie done right but we're still so far behind compared to the yanks when it comes to subies
Holy shit the car that passed at 1:23 like the STi was standing still.
To be fair it did a 7 second pass lol
Funny way to spell rb.
BOB Are you a dumshit? It's clearly an r33 gts-t

BOB TROLL
This is dope asf
God she goes so good Waz.
Thanks mate!
Very good quality video
I didn't know they made a 7cm version of the dom. Thought it was 8 or 10. I have a 10
Naptown Squid yep available on the Australian market for a while now through Prospeed Racing
This wasn’t built at GIR, he had it way before he joined there
So it has V9 heads, is the bottom end V9 too? That's really impressive if it is, since the JDM V9's have cast pistons
read brotha 207
@@alitoroganan2442 and?..... some JDM 207's had cast pistons. That's why I'm asking
Hypereutetic or something like that, only the v7 sti internals was forged from factory I think
None of them were truly forged the only ever factory forged piston came out on the liberty Rs turbo ra blocks
Sorta sounded like a Honda at first...
Not bad
Not bad, it's only a set of drag radials away from running high 10's.
actually its good that its slipping, less chance of breaking things
What rpm are you launching at?
I don't know anything about subarus but 30psi seems like a lot of boost for 'only' 442whp? Bigger turbo needed?
Only a 2L engine remember. And because the turbo is so far away, if you go much larger lag starts to become a serious issue because of that distance.
May only be 2L, but K20 hondas are putting out over 700whp on 30psi, not on stock internals but still 2.0L and 30psi. Stock internals a K20 will make 450hp on 15psi... That's a big difference, even considering AWD losses. edit: seems like 450-500whp @ 30psi is pretty normal for a 2.0L EJ w/ GT30 and boost peaking at peak power. Seems kind of pathetic given an old Honda D16 SOHC makes that kind of power at that kind of boost.
Two different engines and different turbos, 30psi on one setup isn't always equal to 30psi on another, you could run a bigger turbo and make more power on less psi.
Making 30psi but a whole lot less power than similar capacity engines would suggest the turbo isn't a good match for the engine, or the engine is vastly inferior in some way.
What seems to be the case here (in my totally non-professional and EJ-inexperienced opinion) is that the engine torque is falling off a cliff just as the turbo is coming on to boost (>25psi), so the peak power is low for the amount of boost generated at redline compared to some other 2L 4bangers. In comparison a vtec Honda is still holding decent torque at >7000rpm so can make much more power even if it takes until 7000rpm to reach 30psi.
Back to school. Low compression engines run high boost. Cant compare this engine to a turbo charged Honda, fundamentally different engines. Just stick to your Honda's, hopefully you know them a bit better than Subarus.
What happened @ 1:23 😳
You can see it getting smoked by the chevy
7cm????????????????
Could pick up. 2 with automatic
lol
"relatively stockish JDM 2L"
making the power this does I doubt it's as close to stock as it is fully built
Have seen 207's get pushed to the limits and make 240-250kw but it's like an evo 7 4g they just don't push that high unless built or prepped to break things
Head studs and JDM heads are the only engine mods
The ADM 207 bottom end these have (I have one) is tough as.
The heads are changed to the JDM ones because they flow better, bottom end is completely stock.
Head-studs are the only thing you need to keep it reliable.
Yep, that's why my stock bottom ej257 with v7 2L heads is still holding @22psi td06sl2. Got the arp headstuds. :) I'm impressed the heads he's using can hold that boost level stock. I'm just playing it safe. But if my motor goes, I already decided I'm going a 207, but man, I'll have to keep those v9 jdm heads in mind too.

Those STi stickers should be removed if its rolling a EJ207 though it is packing heat...hmm
EJ207 is the factory STi engine.
Still don't understand putting all that money into a 1.8 liter engine. But it's still cool
where is 1.8?
Evan I meant 2.5 idk why I was thinking 1.8 but the point is that putting the same money into a car with more displacement would make a faster car.
It's actually a 2.0L EJ207 with at 330kW at the wheels. Getting the facts before commenting saves you from looking like an arsehat.
U mean put money into an LS1? How generic.
jayknight139
so what exactly did you mean this time???
