    Some of that aftermarket stuff is pretty naff but the "mini-DB5" idea is even naffer. I'd buy the car as it is (what's wrong with minilites?) but never in the proposed get up.

    As an MGC owner, the colour of the car in the video looks like Snowberry White (though a bit creamy) and a colour that suits the car very well, however I agree the inside of the car is tasteless and not original. Having seen the car that is now for sale on eBay , it's even worse, the colour is not right and doesn't suit the car, the door shut lines are dreadful and don't line up, the chrome strip along the waist line should have been retained and painted as it was on the 1975 MGB Jubilee models, this gives the car a bit more definition. Nice to see wire wheels have now been fitted, the interior is a mish-mash, the style of door cards are MGB 1970's vintage and were never fitted to the C, nor was the transmission tunnel arm rest or the gear lever gaiter. It was very noticeable there was a plume of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust, so maybe problem with the valve guides, so I hope the top end has been rectified before selling? Though C's are gaining in value, but top values are for originals, this car - £23-24k at the very most.

  • @LordTwaddle
    @LordTwaddle 4 роки тому +1

    The trouble with the C is they need several thousand spent on front suspension and triple Webber carbs before they drive as good as they look, those BMC 3000 engines weigh an awful lot for a small car.

    At last, someone standing up to Drew and telling it like it is.......he doesn't know tasteful and he doesn't know subtle either, all he basically knows is pound notes. If he ever comes to your establishment to buy stuff do what my mate did, give him totally ridiculous prices that he just can't work with, that soon gets rid of him!

    Drew's planning on painting it the same colour as an Aston DB5 so he can then rattle on about it being a mini DB5 when it's really just a front-heavy MGB.

      Classiccars just sold an MGC for 34 grand... Although to be fair, it was in incredible condition, brand new engine, hand made custom alloys and grills, custom hand stitched leather interior etc... so way better than this, but they're worth the money if they're spotless.

    • @autoroom21

    Did they rebuild the engine to stop the excessive smoke? Or do they honestly believe old cars ought to smoke like this? Still I suppose someone might a car with a new interior and fresh paint that smokes.

      I think the new leather doesn't match with the car and it's age. Drew should stick to furniture. The name custom says all. Fact that the customer paid for it doesn't mean the same amount of money has added value to it. Therefor it's custom.

  • @1chish

    The MGC was always a more practical Healey 3000. Nothing more needs adding. British Grand Touring genius. Oh and silver or chrome if its wire wheels and leather trim must always emphasise a body colour by being a different colour different. Its why RR and Bentley will use tan leather with black piping on a Burgundy for for example.
    Just my humble opinion of course

    Db4 for mg money he ain’t got a scooby doo And when he says when people wanted the Aston and couldn’t afford it the next best thing is the Mgc. What about an E type also did they take the engine out for the paint job and I nevertheless got to see the underneath of the car surely you got to see the structure and put your mind to rest they never checked the sills which is a big job on them cars it’s the first thing you look at In he’s case MGC Must mean Me Gormless Cu you no the rest

    The MGC was an overpowered snow plough. You couldn't turn the damn things with a winch and the torque from the six did weird things to the body work. I used to work on a customers MGC and it always had something wrong with it. At first I thought it was the owner and then after talking to other owners I found out they were all pretty much the same.

  • @marknelson5929

    Personally this cars greatest value is to keep the dear old girl in her original colour, remove those stupid sill covers, reinstate the C-type stove enamel wire wheels, remove the silly timber dash, and put in a 'factory' style red spec interior, perfecto. Keep it original guys and stop dreaming ... so what's happened as it's now June?

  • @leytonthomas2043
    @leytonthomas2043 5 років тому +1

    What a dog of a car......always be aware when an MGB/C have stainless steel oversills fitted,They are not there to make the car look pretty, just hiding good old BMC Rot!
    Changing the colour to non original BMC factory colour is an absolute No No.....it limits the number of buyers. Originality is key to returning any kind of margin. £8k to £10k would have been plenty for this poorly presented example with over the top MG Owners Club interior. Remember, changing those wheels to wire wheels involves replacing the rear axle . It originally has steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, not the best I admit, but painting " Bolt on wire wheels" will make it look like a fairground ride....

    This guy always seems to want classics to be something else, I think the tr4 one was another Aston (in his view) this car wants a proper rebuild (smoking engine for a start) doing as original, not just some pseudo Aston bling and wanting top wack for it, pity the next owner at 30k popping a gallon of 20/50 in every couple of hundred, I'd rather see proper guys restoring a classic rather than this bowhouse joker.
