    I've always loved the looks of a MGA. Some of the best car styling ever produced, the MGA and the Austin Healey 3000 are my favorites. I never owned either. I did restore a MGB in the 80's which was a fun project. When I think of a sports car, it has to be British. And I am from the states where muscle cars ruled for years. But British sports cars look so much better. Sometimes it's not about being the fastest, it's about looking good and the British sports cars can't be beat in looks.

    So the shape of the MGA, which was introduced in 1955, managed to influence the shape of the Corvette, introduced in 1953 and the Jaguar XK120, introduced in 1948. Does nobody check this nonsense?

    • @sarahhearn-vonfoerster7401
      @sarahhearn-vonfoerster7401 3 роки тому

      It happens to be true, not nonsense. The reason I purchased my Jaguar in the 70s was because it was shaped like my '58 MGA 1600 twin cam, the most perfect car I ever owned...still in the family!

    • @sarahhearn-vonfoerster7401
      @sarahhearn-vonfoerster7401 3 роки тому

      Depends upon the model Corvette and Jaguar, not the year.

      @@sarahhearn-vonfoerster7401 Drew Pritchard specifically cites the series 1 Corvette, introduced in 1953 and the Jaguar XK120, introduced in 1948. Are you the person that researched this nonsense for the programme? If not there is clearly a job waiting for you.

    Why do this to a really pretty Mga coupe, it looked perfeckt as it was. The original steel wheels were looking great. Most MGa's already have wire wheels.

    Nice MGA, orginal steering wheel, steel wheels, great interior, hope they didnt throw these away, at least you will be able to get rid of the improvements at a later date.

      Not to mention the original seats which were "a bit saggy", apparently (well..just restore them). They probably sold all those bits on eBay to help fund their ill-conceived so-called 'improvements'.

      Completely ruined the car. 1st - chrome wire wheels are the way to go with this car - look at the prices and you can see that CWW add £4k to the price of all 50's and 60's sports cars. That is a fact, check it. Painted wires? Might as well stick to the standard steels. The supposed "racing" roundels are too small. Again look at cars that have them, And they again reduce the price of the car. The market price for a very good MGA convertible is 3£13k to £18k for an exceptional one. Notably, one with roundel and painted wires went for £11k earlier this year. This Drew character knows nothing.

    Seriously? You can’t actually believe that an MGB engine makes an MGA more valuable…more driveable? Maybe, but not by much lol. Find a 1622 block and cam and go around 9:1 compression, upgraded pistons, maybe a tubular style manifold . and you’ll double the bhp. The MGB was the most mass produced sports cars of all time until the Miata finally dethroned the B about a year ago.
    You might as well tell Porsche owners to do a VW bug swap lol

    • @geoffsaunders4960
