Loki is back, and slipping through time? Is this a cosmic accident, or part of the plan of He Who Remans (AKA Kang)? In this video we explain how we're watching the origin of Kang the Conqueror, play out as he becomes the founder--or conqueror--of the TVA. This theory would explain the new foundations of the MCU, leading up to Avenegrs: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

The only problem in your theory is the scars …how can the original Kang have scars and not Timely …?

I believe OB is a kang variant 🤫
0:01 - was that a 4th wall break? or am I just tripping?
Am I the only one that hears Ke Huy Quan doing an Owen Wilson impression every time he said, "wow" during the 1st episode? People were talking about Owen Wilson possibly saying it during season 1, but never did, I don't believe.
Hello, I found you guys in the original season of Loki and I just have to say that you guys probably kept me distracted enough to survive covid and the quarantine so, thank you Ryan and thank you Doug
I think the lack of danger that covid presents is probably what saved you from covid.
I'm talking about my emotional state during the months of isolation I experienced during some of my most strenuous growing up years@@MrJakePaddy
Most people survived naturally.
@@Rrrafael.00millions didn’t.
@kevinphiggins people that would have died anyway. I know that sounds harsh but that's the reality of the situation.
I have to say as someone who really got tripped of Hulk's explanation of time travel in Endgame, it was really nice to see the simple linear A-B past-present cause and effect method of time travel regarding Loki giving Ouroboros his nickname O.B. in the past and having him stick with that in the future.
He didn't give him that nickname. He mentioned that nickname BEFORE Loki timeslipped to meet Past O.B.
If O.B. can remember Mobius, only meeting him for a split second, after 400 years. I'm sure he would've remembered Loki giving him his nickname.
O.B. didn't even know Loki when he and Mobius went to meet him. It wasn't until AFTER he introduced himself as Ouroboros and O.B. that Loki slipped back in time.
@@jcIIXVIIIVIIexactly. That‘s called a bootstrap paradox, look it up :)
Anyone do a rewatch of ep 1 just to admire how far the CGI has come? Loki even blows a lot of the MCU movies out of the water in that department.
@diggydub5720 all of the external backgrounds are obviously blue screened in so not sure what you’re going on about with that. Those are far better done than even what we saw in like Quantumania. The lighting in particular has gotten really good. That’s not even considering character effects like what we see for pruning or timeslipping which are also very well done.
CGI in SHEHULK looks so pathetic compared to Loki😢😢
You know, I also noticed that OB hasn't had his memory reset. He remembered seeing Mobius at a time that Mobius doesn't remember.
I think OB is a robot, like Vision was. OB also mentioned that he doesn't sleep.
I think the only thing that got wiped from OB's memory is: about who KANG is. or more like how Kang looks.
He knows who created/wrote the books for the TVA but he does not know how Kang looks like.
He who remains knows how to time slip. If you look at the season 1 finale, when he who remains is attacked he is able to dodge all of them. He does this without using his temp pad or having the square appear. I think that was his plan to help Loki learn how to use that power and defeat the other variants of Kang.
I don't know if it's part of Kang/He Who Remains' plan, but I do suspect it has a lot to do with how Loki gets back to Thor.
I did a rewatch yesterday and I noticed that one of the Time Keepers have the same voice as one of the Kang variants that appears on the Quantumania after credits
Bro you have this show figured out better then the showrunners...
That's usually the case haha Disney is missing a trick by not giving him a job.
I love how Loki is able to manipulate the present from the past similar to Back To The Future so Scott was right.
"Back To The Future isn't a bunch a bullshit!"
I just want to thank you for this channel. It is my favorite vlog for all my favorite movies and shows. Any show with a dog is bound to be good.
I love your sense of humor and your overall personality! You're my favorite channel to get my sci-fi information! Also, I love Doug!
I think you're right because why is Victor Timely not with all the other Kangs??? He's alone. So I think your spot on.
I think kang temporal aura got split across the multiverse when he got sucked into the engine core. Victor is just “one of the many Scott’s we saw”. He who remains is the result of being pulled back together like Loki was in S2E1
I like this theory.
This makes the most sense
They say time works differently in the TVA so time travelling shouldn't cause branches. However I think there is a fixed start and end. At the future TVA we see them evacuating and it's likely to the start of the TVA where things can reset.
For my part, I think the TVA is somewhere out of the Sacred Timeline, pretty much in the same way that the Citadel of He-Who-Remains is isolated from the rest of the Sacred Timeline. We can clearly see that this Citadel is not located at the "end of time" in a linear way, but literally out of the time loop. The Citadel is the place where time is reset (ending a particular time loop). The TVA is in a state of universal present, which allows it to observe and control each and every present moments of the Sacred Timeline. An unwanted event happens ( for example in 2213 or in the year 5000 b.c., the TVA is able to detect it in real time and react immediately by sending a pruning team before the event reaches the threshold that could disrupt the entire Sacred Timeline.
"Time works differently in the TVA" simply means that the TVA doesn't exist in a specific frozen moment of the time loop, but rather has its own parallel timeline, allowing the TVA employee to work, take breaks, gain experience and have some notion of "going forward in time" without actually aging (not at the same rate we do at least). The TVA was created, the first time disruptive event occured at some point and then the second event, followed by another one, and so on. When He-Who-Remains was killed by Sylvie, the TVA was reset to the moment of its creation by one Kang and it continued its mission under this new Kang administration so to speak. There are as many past TVAs as there are resets needed to get to the meeting between Sylvie, Loki and He-Who-Remains.
Keep doing your thing Ryan Arey & ScreenCrush, much love to all of you!! I just want to share this take since I haven't seen it anywhere else:
My first impression when Loki explains that accessing memories is a power that "she can do" after Mobius quips that he has no memory of having his memory wiped, hints to Sylvie seeing the wider multiverse and becoming a part of Kang's plan. This is further supported by the lingering TemPad from HHR's room in the credits, followed by the postcredits with Sylvie stating she wants to "try everything."
I like the Loki-pruned-himself theory, since it could give a nice hero moment toward the end of the season. However, I don't think we can rule out OB being the one that pruned him. I suspect that OB has his memories because he was the one who carried out the memory wipes. It may have been innocent (just another "repair order", for example) but it would explain why he has his memories. Since he's such a good problem solver, he may be the one who prunes Loki, to keep the events of the first part of the story moving.
Could OB be the MCU’s version of the Molecule Man as he was to Doom?
Not power-wise but how Doom absolutely depended on him. He isolated him just as Kang does OB
What do you think of Loki so far?
Best marvel tv show since season 1
I got it... ⛓️
I’ve been feeling really MCU fatigued lately where watching MCU content feels more like homework than entertainment, but the S2 opener really hooked me. Hope it turns out better than Secret Invasion.
I really enjoy the pace of the show. Great moments of dialogue and visual "coolness" 👍👍
Love it
I just love this channel, especially being able to watch Ryan and Doug. I'm about to buy several Doug mugs for myself!
I think when Kang gets sucked into the energy core and finds it makes him time slip. He then builds the temp pad to stop him and then he built the TVA inside that power core because it's like a pocket dimension outside of time and space.
Thats better than most theories, that would connect him as the same character.
Nice one!
Where is his scars?
I don't think Kang lost to the ants, because we see him swarmed by them, then we see him sans ants. He has damage to his suit, but he wasn't eaten.
With everything a time loop, I wonder the multiversal war we keep hearing about is actually the events we will eventually see unfold in Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars.
“Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the future.” Steve Miller will save everyone!
Victor Timely: "I finally invented something that works!!"
Loki: "Bet your ass it works"
As far as Loki slipping into the future and continuing to slip again…there’s an almost throw away line by Mobius as they are walking to the Loom…he says something to the effect of: “Hey OB, a piece just fell off is that important?” Neither OB nor Loki responds to him. And maybe that missing piece leads to the Loki slipping again.
I noticed that too. Seems like pieces falling off your time stabilizer is a big deal. But then again, he fixed Mobius' helmet with duct tape.
Victor Timely becoming He Who Remains makes sense. They definitely have similar nuances in their speech.
I have a hard time believing Kang The Conqueror is also He Who Remains, of course he could be, but KTC seems too different, too militant and calm.
I think you have it backwards. Timely leads to Quantumania Kang and we'll probably see him get his scars at the end of the series.
18:00 That's not how Terminator Time Travel works
Excellent analysis alway ryan i agree with you it all lead to HWR being kang the conquerors, destroying the multiverse, and secret wars👍🏽.
I like how chill Marvel is to establish that free will is a ilusion while in DC is a big deal with characters entire motivation envolved arround this like Darkseid and the anti-life equation
I vote for the continued future use of that Anakin "Incorrect" clip. Just too good
Kang and He Who Remains talk differently tho, which seems like it would indicate that they are different people. Also, I'm fairly certain Marvel has already confirmed they aren't the same person in the behind the scenes on Ant-Man 3
Yeah, in the behind the scene screenwriter Jeff Loveness litteraly says that Kang the Conqueror is the "guy" He Who Remains is afraid of, and we do see him destroy numerous Timelines all together. What I think HWR was doing is protecting his reality from the Council, but most importantly from that Kang.
@@lucagz6481but he who remains literally says that he has been dubbed many names conquerer and he who remains are a few.
Kang in any man literally showcases how he wants a scared timeline I believe he merely did it violently initially until he found a way to make the loom and now he’s engineered a way for it always to happen some version of HWR will always end back up in that spot
@@Marshkoon he is not showcasing the Sacred Timeline that He Who Remains created, he is projecting the Timelines of two Universes "at war" with each other and with other Universes, with the Branches growing, some getting destroyed, other colliding with the Branches of the Timeline below.
@@lucagz6481 no no my friend you aren’t following Kang would be an early version of HWR he shows Janet how the timeline should look and how it is branching he wants a sacred timeline that HWR because he for one possibly did his pruning via conquering but overtime found a way to make a loom.
How it also adds up to the fact that HWR said he himself not that other versions of himself are named such and such he said he has been dubbed many things prior to being at that point Loki and slyvie showed up.
His mural is under everything he is the one who erased everyone’s memory he wasn’t always calm and benevolent something happened that made him leave his woman seeing as she was integral. You are looking at HWR as one guy but he could have been many personalities up until he became the last one aka HWR.
The theory is just wrong! Victor Timely was a young boy not a grown man and doesn't even have any memories. Just wrong
You know the strangest thing about Ob is that he has 400 years of memory... Like it's pretty obvious everyone at the tva is memory wiped regularly so it's super weird that Ob not only can state he has a complete memory of working at the TVA since it began but experience the rewriting done by Loki in real time is what most people focus on but that's only possible if he has never been wiped.
When Timely betrays everyone while trying to save the loom/tva, he'll wipe everyones memories, and start his reign. Except for O.B's as he's the other constant in this loop. He connects the 2 timelines that allows for his victory.
@@freebird6591 that does make sense though I'm actually expecting a King Loki theory to be the true answer of all of this...
A thing the MCU changed was the Hel being Odins daughter not Loki's was really confusing and seeing how it ends kinda meaningless but Fenrir is there too and now we have Oroborus which in Norse mythology ties to Jurmungunder another child of Loki... so I think you are onto something how Ob is the tail and head of the TVA in how it all loops. Just I believe there is hints to a Loki being behind it all. Its really odd how little Loki variants we have gotten so far in a show thats premise was always that Loki's would be the trouble.
I would be with you on your Kang is he who remains theory except for the fact that Kang has 2 big ass scars going down his face. What happens to those?
I really appreciate that you guys are shouting out the behind the screens writers and team.
Maybe Kang experienced the slipping through time like loki's going through. And where he who remains ended up at the end of time to help stop the time slipping. And that thing he was wearing around his wrist , made it so he could control the time slips. And that's how he was able to move out the way when the lokis tried to hit him 🤷🏻♂️
Love your theories and videos. This would be a great way to bring everything around
I think its a better scenario that Victor Timely becomes He Who Remains, not the Kang we saw in Ant-Man. That Kang has scars on his face and He Who Remains didn't. Victor can easily change the way he looks and talks over time to become He Who Remains.
The Kang in Ant-Man is also dead. He was basically atomized by his own power source.
@@jcIIXVIIIVII Yeah, but comic book movie logic would find a way to bring him back if they really wanted to. Another universe beyond the Microverse or something.
@@jcIIXVIIIVII well, we never saw the body😂
I know all the stuff happening with Johnathan Majors (innocent until proven guilty) BUT as an actor, as Kang, he is just perfect
I think the reason why the timeline is being affected by what Loki does in the past is because if kang is the one causing them, then he must be changing the time laws which is why it affects the future
YESSS PLEase!!! this all makes so much sense, And have hoped for a long time they would go this route!
Brilliant!!! I'm glad to see this show is worth reviewing.
First, I love that you find a reason to bring Community clips into nearly every video. Now, all of this, that we are watching, is predetermined to occur. Does this include Loki? HWR said he paved the road for Loki and Silvi to come to him, and all of this is by his design. So how we know if/when the loop doesn't connect? Also, I really love this series.
the only reason i don’t think Kang in Quantomania is he who remains is bc Kang has pretty significant scars on his face which aren’t there for He Who Remains
He was also basically atomized at the end by his own power source when Scott threw those enlargement and shrinking things at it.
@@jcIIXVIIIVII well yea that’s also true although i do think he could come back
I think OB is an insurance policy for Kang to always come back as He Who Remains. Technically, OB is the real The One Who Remains 😂
Every since the first interaction with OB, I felt like something is off about him and I can't shake it
@@GorlicBreadzhonestly it would be a great showcase of KHQ talents to have him play a villain
@@GorlicBreadzI'm thinking O.B isn't quite human. Maybe he is a sentient robot or an android or something. Created or found by Kang
Excellent analysis!!!! Thank you for breaking down the overall crux of the Multiverse Phase in the MCU. It should be a wild ride. Here's to hoping J. Majors beats his case, and all get to see this play out expeditiously.
I believe it's the Kangs who create alternate timelines. On the other hand, He Who Remains remains constant since these Kangs brought issues upon creation, which means that He is the only beneficial one in that respect.
There is a line in the trailer when Loki asked OB what they could have done differently.
I'm glad that I'm not the only person who caught those "prestige" vibes from Victor Timely!!!
Wondering if there is a connection between the TVA and Miss Marvel's bangles, as these are the only 2 examples of linear time loop where one can actually influence the future/present, Back to the futrue style by going to the past, whereas time travel creates new branched timelines in the rest of the MCU.
Also, that Terminator loop was chef's kiss !
general dox... paradox... saw where she was listed as an older sylvie before in credits online. Would be a real Paradox if Sylvie inserted herself as General Dox the same way Kang did with Victor Timely.
Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless.
It has to be a very large and I mean Gigantic Star in order for it to collapse in on itself and cause a Supernova and sometimes that's not even enough. Not all stars that go supernova create Black Holes. They sometimes leave a corpse of a star like a White Dwarf etc..
I'm betting it must be something like this. And He Who Remains is betting on two gods of chaos to break him out of his lonely loop.
I've said it once and I'll say it again: 'Your theory videos are the best thing that came out of MCU phase 4!'
I agree with the theory HWR is Kang too 🤞
The Kang that Conquered
One of the earliest Star Trek novels was called The Entropy Effect!!! Spock is bouncing around time trying to fix a problem that he started 😮❤
I immediately thought, well time slipping isn't "time travel". Time travel is purposeful. Time slipping could almost be argued as part of your destiny.
By multiveral laws, there is an infinite number of realities. Free will a choice still matter and are present but the choices we make that affect the timeliness gets pruned so there isn't a branch meaning we make every choice everything freely but most will end more quickly if they actually affect something.
Thanks!
No problem!
Always love your videos. Would love to see one about Matrix similarities and/or a deeper dive in the Avengers 1 references. Also thinking of another meaning of OB: OBGYN. Maybe OB helps bring the new time situation into existence.
that was the most impressive ad transition i've ever seen
I think victor timely will end the show running the tva and becoming he who remains and the reset will be because he doesn’t want everyone to think he’s a bad guy
Love anything kang dude! Thank you!
Your videos are so good! “Like Batman…” Love it
Jim liked driving around town with his hazard lights on.
Silence is a true friend who never betrays.
When they pass the threshold moment in Season 1 you can hear what sounds like the starting up of a generator/engine in the background. Which makes. a lot of sense as OB's job as maintenance man is cranking up the loom.
Question: If Victor Timely is Kang who was sent there by the vortex, what happened to the scars on his face?
Honestly Loki is the best damn show they ever made plus the writing is totally upgraded a lot
A grouping of something male-led is called a dynasty. It’s the origin of the word. The title of the next Avengers flick is about them fighting the council. So the Kang Dynasty is like saying the crow murder. The conquer even name drops them in quantumamia. He was building the army to fight the dynasty. It’s also the “worse thing” coming.
What if the TVA is inside that probability storm kang got sucked in since it’s irrelevant to time and space and if so it would be a way to go into different multiverses and grab people for the TVA and it’s how the other kangs can’t find him so he stayed in one timeline and wrote it to exclude any other kang variant
Makes sense, but these two kang's personalities are sooo different 😂
Always loved your theories ❤
6:12. Actually this is not the first time we've seen this kind of time travel in the MCU. The first time is when Kamala went back in time in Ms. Marvel.
When Loki prunes the mural of the Timekeepers to reveal the Kangs behind them, they’re all different. Victor Timely is in the center, Immortus is at the far left, and two others are Centurion and Kang the Conqueror
Im going with Loki pruned Loki and we'll see that in either the midseaaon episode or the finale.
Watch Mattix 3 again, particularly the conversation with “The Architect” who confirms that Neo has been there many times before and was expected. Neo is *NOT* the glitch in the system. Agent Smith is.
I love this theory so much. Gonna be brilliant when it comes true
Didn't part of Kang's plan stop working past the point where he said he didn't know what was gonna happen after Loki and Silvie found him? Or was that part of his plan too 😅
My understanding is that he knew what would have happened if Sylvie killed him and left the sacred timeline unmanaged he understands the time loop which is why he says see you soon but loki is the annomaly he didnt know the choice he would make and if loki chose to rule over the sacred timeline then the cycle of kangs taking over would change
Thanks Ryan!
As always you nailed it thx
I think we're also all forgetting that in ant man 3 he says he skipped to the end and whatever he saw basically made him crap his pants and start all this
Time keeps on slipping’…
Great theory, really looking forward to this season and what will follow.
spoiler alert for the trailer content would have been nice.
So how do they get past the aging paradox
Dude i cant remember when i started watching this channel, but i do prefer your explanations vs new rockstars or everything always
I’d say no. He guessed one of two things would happen after his knowledge of what would happen ended. One he’d be killed or the two of them would take over. He couldn’t know that Loki would be sent back in time in such a state
i’m confused, if TVA exists outside of space and time, how can Loki be time traveling/slipping to the past and future of the TVA?
actually lokis time slipping bypass that its been explain in s2 ep5
he's time slipping is not by time but by who
Scott at the end of Quantomania makes it overtly clear Kang is still out there lol
I’m not sure I believe in free will, but I’m also not sure that predeterminism is mutually exclusive with free will. You could say that there is only one possible outcome because of what we will choose. The Matrix movies phrased it like, Neo already made his choice but “You’re here to understand your choice”
Love your content... Give Doug a treat he's a good boy
8:41 prototype loom back there.
OB tells them his friends call him OB before Loki slips back, so he's not changing the past. OB is just remembering it, which is fair. It's been a few hundred years, and he's got a lot going on!
This theory would explain how in episode 3, victor's stutter disappears the moment renslayer and miss minutes interrogate him where the stutter is used as a faking mechanism by Victor/Kang to mask his real identity from people and fooling them...
It’s not he literally took miss minutes rebooting as a form of mockery because he actually had stutter.
Also there's several trailer fottage of loki going back in time with sylvie to undue whatever inevitable things that Kang put in place. There's also footage of loki going to the timeline itself like mobius did but without a suit, cause he is a god, and maybe sacrifices himself......or hell have to rule over the time stream while kang goes and fights his varients in kang dynasty
I’m waiting for Fly Like An Eagle to be played at some point, lol!
After seeing doctor who on your tshirt… would you consider covering Doctor Who on the channel now it’ll be streaming on Disney +???!
He who remains , is in a sense a lot like strange supreme from what if. There , strange supreme sacrifice his free will to trap untron and killmonger ,hence saving the multiverse, whereas, He who remains lives in dark castle overlooking the sacred timeline. They are both prisoner of their own making.
