I like that these type masks have the full rubber body instead if straps, I would assume it makes it quicker to put on and you wouldn't have to worry as much about having a seal because it is all the way around your head.

And surprisingly, as long as i fit my chin in it properlly it isn't even *that* unconrfortable. This is why i love the helmet mask design

No, I have a modern Chinese 40mm hose on order so I'll see if that works, typically, the Chinese use standardised threads on both ends of things, so in theory it should fit into GOST masks but take NATO filters.
That would be dope. I like the GP-5 (It's the one I leave in my car), but I'd like to put a NATO filter on it. Ideally I would get the TF-1, but I'm a bit sketched out by the faulty inhale valve.
Sometimes I noticed that problem with my shms gas mask, where the exhale valve on the outside of the gas mask would just stick to the rubber that's supposed to make it seal. I wonder if there is a way that I can make that less sticky, or if I just need to remove that and have the exhale valve system be entirely based around the axle valve on the inside of the mask. Because for some reason the Soviet gas masks have two sets of exhale valves.
I bought a TF1 and smell of rubber is awful, it's ironic to say that the gas mask odor is suffocating. Anyone knows how to get rid of the strong rubber smell? It's so bad that it'll make you feel dizzy and even vomit after few mins of using it. No filters yet, just the mask. Any suggestion is welcome

The main difference between the GOST and NATO threads is that the GOST thread on the filters are thinner than the NATO thread. The GOST thread is more triangular while the NATO thread is more rounded. Otherwise, there is no difference between them. That's why GOST filters fit on NATO masks, but not the other way around.
The thickness of the threads and the shape of the threads are connected, so it's really just one thing different. The angle of the threads and the distance between them are the same. I measured it. It's always 5mm between the peaks of the threads.

Cheeki Soviet Slav German m65, but only if it fits you, so better go to a surplus store and try it on, if it fits you it is a VERY good mask, as it has an oral nasal cup.
Hey could you do me a favor and make a video about getting a gas masks shape back because I got a GM-38 and the shape in gone I keep stuffing filters in to to simulate a face but it just won’t work!
Gm38's have a tendency to get stuck in the crumpled up position I have 4, if you can afford a mannequin head and a bottle of ballistol then that might do the trick. Get a proper plastic mannequin head mind not a styrofoam head because that will dry it out! If the mask will go on the head without tearing add a FEW DROPS to a paper towel and rub it around the mask. Leave it for a few weeks. If it's still heard add some more. You should find it will go more supple but it will have to stay on the hard for a long time to "keep" it's shape. But you could pack it up after.

Yeah basically, cheaper production version/thinner rubber, the majority of Soviet masks will have the Y on it because once they designed the cheaper versions they only made those.
The Chinese one should also be on ebay so I'd search it up on ther if you can't find it then it's probably on some website that you'll more than likely find by searching it on Google

Not really, I have no intention of removing the cheek filters from any of my masks. If it's not a rare mask, get a knife and cut the inside of the cheek pouches open so it's easier to take them out.

the the tf-1 is better overall as the thread can be used with most types of filters however the gp-5 can only use ex-warsaw pact filters, other than that they are very similar.
i have that exact same chinese gp5 i bought it because the soviet ones are far away from my country and its gonna take alot of money to ship and its expensive

Yes they are faster to put on but you need a mask that is more forgiving to your size, otherwise they won't fit.

My gp5 was made in 1977 and. It barely fogs up.I just need a safe filter for it.
I think a bit of Teflon tape around the filter thread can quickly and safely fix the problem of the GP-5 (teflon can resist almost any chemicals).
I might test that with a NATO filter on the GP-5 at some point, as lots of people have suggested it before.

Not much you can do, the rubber will be brittle on a GM-38 considering how old they are, and Nazi rubber quality.

Do you have a filter on it? Soviet diaphragms tend to vibrate a bit anyway.
Weaponsandstuff93 Yes. I have the filter and hose on and the vibration seems to come from the lower portion of the mask (the inhale/exhale assembly)
If you peel back the valves and look inside is anything broken?
Weaponsandstuff93 I just peeled it back and nothing seems to be damaged and all the valves aren't sticking together either.
can you put teflon tape around the threads of the filter when using it with the gp-5 to make an air tight seal
You'd have to put another filter in first and then use duct tape around the filter join, not fool proof though.

Probably not well, the GP-5 would survive the drop but there's a risk the 40mm intake would bend, making the mask useless.
Reminds me of the exhale valve of my GP-4u it doesnt work cant breath out of it no matter what i seem to do any idea how to fix it?
Take the metal cover off, gently peel the valve open, of it still sticks get a replacement valve.

Impossible to answer really but an ABEK2-P3 filter or modern CBRN filter is generally pretty good, filters are situational though.
