I’ve found success after turning my steering rate up to 140% .. immediately gained a second to a lot of my lap times maybe I’m just ass , maybe not . I’d recommend anyone on controller to give it a shot .

Haven't even changed the controller settings yet but I still love the way handling feels. It's much more responsive and and requires you to be a lot more smooth and precise with your inputs. More rewarding overall 👍🏾
My first F1 game was 2022 and I really felt like I couldn't get a good handle on it with the controller. This year I'm already up and running with some success in my F2 career, completed the initial F1 life races to unlock a few things, and played some GP's and time trials for practice. I already know I'll be putting so much more into this game than 2022! So fun so far.
I almost find it over responsive. I've only started my career mode in Bahrain, but I've tried multiple different car setups. And I'm still seeing the same issues. I then wondered if it was car setup whilst being used in the daytime, so tried it all during the night practise session. It was all still the same, so its clearly the game itself. When you make little alterations coming out of a corner, on a straight. Those slight corrections move the car far too much, then you try to counter it and its the same the opposite way.
@sk8erhardy I find that using the recommended setup for the selected track has helped, but sometimes I need to go one option away for optimum. (A few of the less curvy and tricky corners I think I used the more downforce options always now). Last year, I couldn't get career mode rolling. This year I started slow, one-shot quali and finished my f2 14 races and am onto F1. Can't wait to work my way up to more laps and more difficulty, but I've already enjoyed the experience more.
@Amanda Rogers I always love to fine tune car setups, so I will mess about with them anyway. But I find the car just slides about far too much, like when you want to warm up your tyres. Sweeping left to right, the car feels awful. To the point where I actually prefer the f1 22 steering feel 🤣 and that was pretty woeful. But I'll continue to mess around with the settings until I can fine tune it, sure the steering settings on the controller can help.
I bought the game and used a controller and easily won my first couple of races. I ended up finally buying a wheel. Got a moza r5 and immediately went to losing races by up to a minute. I’m sure there’s a lot I still have to get used to but that it seems way harder with a wheel.

I'm using a DualSense (PS5 controller) on a PC, and one thing that bugs me is that it reaches 100% throttle and brake long before the physical travel reaches 100%, and there's no option to calibrate it in game, because increasing saturation will only decrease the upper limit, but I need to raise it so we should be allowed to go under 0 in saturation in order to fix that.

I see F1 drivers do sim racing, and they are drinking, scratching their noses, etc, while I'm holding onto the controller like I'm dangling off a 100' cliff😂
Your time may not improve right away with a wheel. It adds an extra sense of realism, so you may in fact be slower initially. Over time, you can become faster as you have much more control over your inputs than the small controller inputs. I am not a good controller player, but I race with 110% AI with a wheel. You'll almost certainly become more consistent. Buy a good set of racing gloves so all that sweat from the tension and stress doesn't wear your wheel!! 😂😂

Please help .. when using this game on Xbox one there is at least a one second input lag making steering unusable My friends report the same thing so it seems to be common I have changed steering rate for hours in the calibration screen with no change I am using the same controller that I use with the Xbox x which has no such issues Any suggestions are welcome as the game is unplayable like this

It's how much your steering wheel will turn. Lowering it will reduce the maximum rotation. You will see at full lock, your driver in-game will not be turning 180 degrees.

Also, when i move the wheel to the right or left, after it turns, then it changes the view to right or left. I dont know what did i do in order that the wheel is making both actions . On Xbox? Yea it’s such a huge disappointment. Brands such as Logitech have got extra buttons and rev lights working on Xbox. Hopefully it’s something Fanatec can achieve eventually too
Anyone can help with settings for us who either go full left/right or center? They way i use the analog stick, i have a hard time with gradual inputs, im an all or nothing guy, as the other games i have played it worked best.. so i often lose traction exiting corners and the rear slips out.. you'd think it's a throttle issue, but no, it's steering. I tested it yesterday during a career race at australia. Coming out the final turn, i kept losing time to the Ai as i couldn't stay on the throttle like them as i would spin coming through the apex.. towards the end of the race, i decided to experiment and i attempted to not be so heavy on the steering and not keep it 'locked' and that was quite successful
I'd just like to be able to use full left and full right but without losing the rear when getting on the power mid turn. I use 150% rate, and then wheel rotation is 280
@@SimRacingSetups it's very quiet in general but voice over particularly so. For reference, on my soundbar I'm usually on about level 9 for normal watching. To be able to hear what you're saying im cranking it up to 14+

It has been more than a decade since I started playing racing games and Sim racing titles, using both a wheel set and a gamepad. The funny thing is that, when it comes to F1 games, I always find myself faster when using the gamepad rather than the wheel set! And tbh I can’t understand why exactly!!!🥸🤓😅
So far the biggest difference I felt is actually not the grip, but how the car change direction with a pad

You can drive without ABS with the default settings and the settings in the video

It’s a perk with having a ps5 controller. It’s for whenever you don’t have a headset on so you know when to shift without not hearing it.

Taking into account that i have checked that anything in the wheel setup is related to rear or side views.
What kind of assists do you guys run when using a controller?
Traction and ABS are the two most helpful on controller due to the triggers being very sensitive.

increase the throttle deadzone, the deadzone makes it so you have to press harder for the input to go faster/turn more whichever deadzone you adjust
