Some of the cheap brands of earplugs will expand before you've inserted them. The 3M ones are much better.

I'm simply unable to put them in correctly. I throw away many pairs before I manage to put one in correctly. Just can't figure out the right way. It's a hit or miss. When I succeed, it's awesome, I sleep through the night like a baby. If not, I manage a few hours max. Very frustrating. I buy these in houndred packeges. The more you fail and retry, the less likely you manage, as they inflate more quickly, so after a while you have to open a new pair. Try, thro away, open new packet. Rinse and repeat. But the promise of a good night sleep keeps me trying. If I get frustrated, I go to sleep without it, and I have bad night.

Really uncomfortable after they’re in ears. Couldn’t sleep with them in ears. Had to take them out.
