I wore ear plugs to a rock concert once as a spectator and found it actually made the music sound better. Could still hear everything perfectly clearly since it was so loud but could not hear all the other noise at a concert that isn't music. Didn't go home with tinnitus either.

Yep. Concert plugs are fantastic. No droning noise getting in the way of the music and no ear pain either. It's definitely unintuitive, but ear plugs make concerts better.

Ive had tinnitus since I was a kid I found out that small ringing at night wasn't a thing for most people, since then I've tried to protect what I have. Now I work in aviation and almost every day I'm standing behind jet engines, so I always wear double hearing protection, Ear muffs and ear plugs. Most people just wear earmuffs and it drives me nuts.
I'm glad too see videos like yours expressing the importance of proper hearing safety.

    • @matthewblackwood9653
      @matthewblackwood9653 2 роки тому +38

If you're just wearing muffs you gotta shell out for some *serious* dB reduction. I mean a jet engine is nearly as loud as a gunshot, but continually. My dad's got hearing loss and it was absolutely from his time as a aircraft mechanic in Vietnam.

I was literally just told TODAY that I will have to be let go from my job working at a dog shelter because the fact that I wear earplugs to protect my hearing from the constant head splitting barks that a lot of our dogs let out. I don't know what to say as this is clearly an OSHA violation so I did all I could so far and filed a complaint. Their reasoning is that wearing hearing protection makes me unable to possibly hear one of my co-workers being attacked by dogs or some similar emergency, which is down right ridiculous. The timing of this video makes me start to believe I am in a simulation, god damn.

I love the occasional "ahh my pkcell"
I got real hard core into hearing protection after I started noticing some mild tinnitus. I'm in my mid 20's, I want to keep hearing good for the rest of my life, so I had to do something. A well-timed video entitled "Get some goddamn..." on the channel "Matt and Tom" got me to buy my first set of christmas tree musician's earplugs.
I've since gotten some goddamn... custom fitted ear plugs and, while the ones I got aren't super comfy for sleeping, they're brilliant for concerts! I'll have to give those happy ears a go since I live by a fire station and they just go on their PA all night regardless of the fact that they're literally 150 yards from a residential building :|

There are sprays you can buy at pharmacies and drug stores for that.

I absolutely love the Earos Ones. They're really good for going to concerts. You can be pretty close to the amplifiers and all the noise well still protecting your ears and filtering some of the sounds through to your ears at the same time. They usually go for about 40 bucks a guitar center and come with two separate fitting Christmas tree style silicone tips. I use them at a festival this year and I was really satisfied watching St Vincent at the front of the stage protecting my ears and still taking in the music.

I even nicked one ear and found myself bleeding in the morning, even if it was just a little bit. After that, I put them in more properly, as they mention in the app. That helped a lot. I had no issue since then. And yes I really need them. The motorway isn't far from my room and in my dorm people just don't see the possibility that there are more than themself.

So I’ve had to use the over the ear muffs (luckily provided by my work, as are any ear protection) and they are so much better. But what I use for my everyday reusable earplugs i.e motorcycling and sleeping is the Loop "Quiet" earplugs. They're super comfy and low profile, I barely feel them and I haven't pulled them out in my sleep yet! Totally rate them if you haven't checked them out, but don't bother with the "Experience" ones, they're rubbish and the hard plastic makes them less comfortable. The Loop's case is a bit nicer than the Happy Ears too which is a plus.

Great company to deal with, but I far prefer the loops.

I knew a drummer who borrowed my shooting ear pro over ears. Looked like he was wearing head phones and he loved them. He got the really nice ones that plug into things so you can hear talking but block out loud noises.

My dad used to have yellow squishy ones on a string that he got from work so you take one out and let it hang off your shoulder before putting back in.
He also had the Christmas tree style ones too (also on string).
Then for some of the industrial areas he worked in, he'd double down with ear plugs and ear defenders. Fun times.

That's one way to put it.

Got some molded earplug from a past job, they are dedicated for heavy machinerie (cost around 200$). That mean that in front of a very loud machine, you can talk with your co-worker without raising your voice, that thing is amazing, I use them now for motocycle and it's perfect as it cancel the wind noise like nothing else I tried.

I used to have both custom ones (before they got expensive I've had like 4 pairs, sadly grew outta them) and the christmas tree ones for showering n swimming n stuff in the past haha! My ears are really shitty and I've had 9 surgeries on them, luckily I no longer need earplugs for that!

@@_monti142 for a big part I have no Idea. Always had weak/weird eardrums (my right apparently used to look similar to a deflated balloon).
For years my left eardrum had a hole in it which they tried to plug up. 7 years ago they made a new eardrum for my left ear. (Its called tempanoplastiek in dutch or smth)
Then 2 years ago a joke went wrong and I got hit on my right ear, in such a way the air pressure ripped the eardrum in 2.
Last year I had a rly long surgery to get that replaced too.
Luckily it should all be fine now, it sounds way worse than it is haha!
