  • Do your Earplugs fit? Did you know you can test to see if they do? In this video, I test out HexArmor's Xact fit system to see if we can find better noise protection by finding a better fit.

there is a very nice picture in the european standard that explains how to choose the appropriate SNR/NRR. Simply put the resulting noise (when wearing the noise protection) should drop below 80 dB but no as far as below 60dB in order to still hear emergency commands and alarms

Europe and the Aussies are way ahead of us on safety! This was interesting to hear about!

I had custom earplgs made for me while i was working at a power plant. They used silicone to make the ear plugs. Basically, cotton with a teather is put deep inside the ear canal. Then liquid silicone is poured inot the ear canal and takes several minutes to set and get firm. The silicone is then removed and the cotton is pulled out by the tether. The opposite ear is done ths same way. The custom ear plugs will only fit the the ear canal is was made for.

Great video! I usually end up having to go with the bulky earmuffs because I could never seem to get the foam plugs to fit right or stay in! 😅

Maybe you could have a set of custom ear plugs made for you as a video.

What’s the program for testing? I would love to be able to do the same test for our employee’s.

It’s their Xact Fit and I linked it in the description. Also, just so you know, it’s not sponsored or an affiliate link. I just thought it was helpful.

There are custom-made ear plugs. Silicone is placed in a person's ear canal and allowed to dry, the opposite ear is done the same way.
