The Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle United looks to be back on after the Saudi state resolved its issues with beIN Sports over illegal streaming of Premier League football.
The deal that would see an end to Mike Ashley's 14-year ownership of the club still needs Premier League approval, but significant progress has been made following the agreement between beIN and the Saudis on Wednesday.
It is believed an agreement between the Saudis and the Premier League could be reached soon, which would finally bring an end to the 18-month saga.

As a Newcastle fan all my life; first game in 1974, we've had some bad days, some great days, but none as soul destroying as the Ashley era.. I am gobsmacked at the goodwill of the vast majority of non Newcastle fans wishing us the best, thank you.. HWTL
It was the games vs Arsenal in the 90's with Shearer that made me sit up and think this is a great club enjoy it when it happens. You guys also should push for a German model with fans also having a stake and say in the club.
The goodwill comes from people not seeing you as a big club anymore. Everyone loves an underdog.

I absolutely don't want this. I've supported the club all my life with zero trophies to show for it. Now we may well start to get some success but I will not be able to enjoy any of it because it will be funded with blood money from the country which arguably tops the table for human rights violations. This takeover is in effect ending my support of the club I love because I cannot in good conscience cheer it on to success as a propaganda tool for the Saudi Royal Family. I'm gutted by this.

We may not have had as big a trophy haul as Liverpool or United but we were still a London club with a tradition, we were a big club in my opinion because of the tradition

I’ve been to countless games to see us draw 0-0 with Norwich or lose 1-0 to Burnley. Every season just escaping relegation. Relegated in 2009 and 2016. Putting some thought to it, I'm starting to think the first attempt to purchase Newcastle was one of the enciting factors for the superleague.
As a evertonian I can attest that billionaire investment doesn't mean instant success anymore but at least if this deal does go through at least you know money will be spent and success will be the aim. Best of luck Newcastle
I'm a Villa fan so I understand your point we are in a similar situation but this is a totally different level compared to us. PIF is worth more than 350 Billion more than the combined wealth of every BPL club and will dominate world football for years to come. Think City times 100. This makes our clubs redundant we can never compete. Terrible day for football mate and terrible for our teams NSWE might walk away from us because of the absurdity of all this.
