she has become one of the best reviewers of any auto show. She's comfortable and confident. Informative and light hearted. She can talk about the technical specs without making them sound like technical specs. great job
After 10 years my focus SEL is running great and outperforms friends whose imports have rusted after half the time. Thank you Ford for making such a great American car...
Emme you do the best reviews! Not only do you know what your talking about, you like sporty cars yet have a practical side. (Hence the laundry baskets) Great sense of humor and a sharp dresser. Keep up the great work. You go girl!
One of the best reviewers out there. Great videos, sounds non-scripted, and she actually knows what she's talking about. Also has a sense of humor and looks good :)
I just bought this exact car with the same color. I absolutely love it. It has plenty of zip and also gets us around 26mpg city on average and 37 hwy in real world driving. I love the car so far. The SYNC system is good, but I do hate the lag and you have to practically yell sometime. I love the Select Shift so you can go 'pseudo manual'. She's right about the cell phone slot that is too small. The toggle shift is good, but she's right...it's a bit weird just pressing a button. 4 out of 5
Love the review, but i absolutely HATE the way ford did the 'audiotainment' area for both the fiesta and the focus, could there BE more buttons above and below?
How is the transmission? I've read people are disappointed with the lackluster transmission changes. I remember someone describing the changes as riding with an inexperienced stick shift driver. I'm considering buying a focus but I enjoy the mazda 3 a lot and I also like the new turbo beelte. The beetle, to me, is a very fun car to drive and that is what matters.
Hey Emme, I'm heavy, especially around the midrange, I mean there is some torque there for sure, about 180lb on two feet. Plus I am voice activated without the use of paddles. I can shift automatically out of the way or you can shift me manually if you so please. Finally I sport several touch sensitive areas some of which produce pleasing sounds and mood lighting! Care to go for a ride?
I really like this car, but I'm confused by some of the bizarre ergonomics Ford opted for. Shifting buttons on the gear lever? Door locks on the center console? And what's wrong with a steering column stalk for the headlights? And can I get one without Sync? Trying to decide between the Focus, the Hyundai Elantra, and the Kia Forte Koup. Currently leaning toward the Focus because of the wonderful quality. I wish the Dodge Dart was available, because that looks like a great little car as well.
Hey Emme, just was curious to ask if you would recommend this car, I really like the focus hatchback looks and the features. I am going into college and need better mileage (currently drive a 2000 f150 5.4; gets me about 14.5mpg avg) and i am looking for a sedan/hatch that will get me and one or two people around. I am a huge ford fan so i really am considering it. Thanks! :) Love your vids btw!
Oh wow I just checked out Ford's website and you can! When did they start letting you do this? I know when it first came out the manual was restricted to the base model.
I love it when Emma does the reviews, she's totally enjoying it and she makes it fun, lov ya Emma, you're awesome. I'd love to see you do the review on the 2013 Ford Focus Electric.
Hey Amy. I am about to buy my first brand new car and I haven't gotten really exited about what's in my price range (about 20). I don't know much about cars and focus more on the extras, like honda Ex's awesome screen for the iphone. I dont really have time to go look at cars and have been enjoying your videos. Is there a car out there that you think I should look at? Something economical yet fun to play with. Love watching your Videos. -JJ
The fog lights do not turn on unless you turn them on. It doesn't have daytime running lights. Mines a 2012 Focus SfE. I turn on parking lights, and theres a Fog light switch next to it. Only problem is, when your getting out of the car, your right knee hits the round headlight control knob and you accidentally turn your lights on. My Honda Civic 02 and 90 Hyundai Excel daytime running lights were optional. It's standard in Canada.
SFE package, I had a base model and I got 45 highway without paying the extra money. Just be conservative with the fuel and you can save a few extra bucks
Oliver, the Elantra and the Focus were my two top picks, and I test drove each of them. In my opinion, as a first-time new car buyer without any brand loyalties, I was surprised at how much better the Focus felt interior-wise, as well as how it handled and felt on the road. I also noticed that the Elantra got 28 MPG, whereas the Focus on the same route an hour later got 33 MPG. It seems a lot of people are unhappy with the Elantra's real-world MPG. But definitely test drive both!
Something I wish reviewers would cover, especially on these smaller hatchbacks, is does the front passenger seat fold down so you can get in longer stuff. There isn't very much room between the seats on these smaller cars, and you have a hard time getting to the shifter with anything there. The Honda Fit is a weirdo in that it actually goes backwards over the top of the folded rear seats, but it's a subject that doesn't get touched in pretty much every other car review you can find.
I'm liking Emme more and more. Nice review. Something I don't see in reviews and would love to start seeing on roadfly is expected reliability and expected depreciation. Those two are definitely as important as price, since they all three tie in together.
World famous!!! Lol good review. Did this Focus still have the jumpy dual clutch trans or has Ford fixed that consumer complaint in the version you drove?
Wait, no manual and no moonroof? Should have passed on this particular model, but love the styling and utility of the hatch on this one. Once you go hatch....and you do know those seats do fold flat right? I would consider my family heavily biased towards Fords and my Mom chose an SEL Focus hatch with the 6sp powershift 16" rims and lower end Ford Sync for about 2K less than yours. She loves the looks, utility and how it drives most of all! Keep up the great work!
I just bought the st which has alot of options but no navigation or what have you, and sticker on mine was 24,495... i got it for around 21500. Definitely worth it to me, great car, pretty good mileage, and hell of a fun ride
The Sedan SfE (SE Model with Fuel Saver for another $500) which is also mine, I believe has disc brakes all 4 wheels. You also get a Spoiler with the SfE package. The SPORT Focus model has the same as SE but with sport tuned suspension, they should have tuned all the Focus models with Sport suspension.
Good job on the review Emma! I like Fords and have had real good luck with them. My 2007 Mustang has 70,000 miles on it. The only thing that I have done to it is fluid/filters & tires, nothing has ever broke on it. My F350 Diesel is a very strong runner as well! This whole phone compatibility thing totally baffles me! Maybe it's a generational thing? I like to be constantly aware of my surroundings and do not want to stare at a phone all day long. What am I missing here?
Emme, you finally reviewed my car! I have a hideously unreliable black Titanium sedan. I've had it almost a year and the MyFord Touch and SYNC still don't work like they're supposed to, even after the update. These cars are awesome in theory but not in real life :( grrr I wish I had a 2012 Passat! P.S. awesome review as always :D
Thanks, I was trying not to make it too creepy, while touching on something automotively anthropomorphic. But believe it or not I am really here for the car reviews. Keep it up.
@roadflytv you guys should review the new lincoln mkt ecoboost! i was wondering if their new suspension has done it enough justice to make it a serious competitor in the luxury crossover segment, god knows it has the engine for it! thanks and hope you consider it!
Please can you have a talk about the land rover defender please I am thinking of buying one and haven't seen one video review about the land rover defender
I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that the Focus has a double clutch, so it'd make sense that it was jerky and rolled back.. it should drive like a manual except without the pedal.
I think this is a fantastic vehicle. I test drove the SE model and really liked it. I can't wait for the ST in the fall. It should be more like the old SVT model and really kick some arse.
Honestly, I don't ever see myself in the market for a hatch, as my personal tastes skew towards RWD 2 seater convertibles...or the Dodge Challenger SRT8 Yellow Jacket. But I would definitely wait for the turbo in the focus, with a freaking manual transmission. That little button on my test model was so...cute. -Emme@RoadflyTV
their voice command system isnt very user friendly either, a friend and i tried getting the fiesta to play the usb stick we had in it for about 20 minutes before we had to look it up in the manual.
There is Turbo in Europe. In many different versions and one has always the benefit of getting a chip tuning. Until January I thought nothing of the focuses, = just another small car with nothing to show for (toyota corolla, old civic, kia ceed etc), but I had a chance to drive a presentation car through some nice twisty roads and... If it wasn´t small hatch - i would go buy this tomorrow morgning :)
Ford just added another recall in case your news channel hasn't shown it yet. They are reprogramming the TCM, PCM and ABS computers on some model 2012 Focus cars. Mine was the first batch, had to leave the car at the Ford Dealer overnight. Now it doesn't JERK when shifting, much smoother ride. Still have the shimmy and shake in the drivers seat and steering wheel every 4 seconds at idle. Apparently the mechanic didn't feel it maybe he weighs more then the average guy.
Personally, I love the hatchback design better on most cars. I think the Focus looks awesome, and has a lot of good things going for it. But I have heard of some faultiness in the transmission.
Great Review. Ford is definitely the best american manufacturer because they make intelligent cars (torque vectoring is pretty witty) that are are relevant to their customers. (i'd drive a turbo focus if it had awd). I have been critical of some of your reviews so I must say you did a great job. The outtakes made me lol and now i'm gonna have to get me some taco bell. From a robot based phone using, not so fit, heavy man's perspective, I love your subdued sexiness look in this review.
i agree, my grandparents have a 94 toyota hilux truck that still runs perfect, very rusty however as toyotas are known for. We have a 2000 f150 with 130k miles runs like new. however it gets bad mileage so im probably trading it on a focus or fusion.
Price isn't a shiny part of this car. Just comparing, Hyundai offers more with thousands less. But everyone has an opinion on what brand of car to buy. Tnx.
I understand that they made alot of good vehicles but todays vehicles are very reliable i dont understand why everyone hates on these companies. Nothing we can do and i need something that is halfway decent for winter and wont break the bank on gas.

Dearest Emme. You are most definitely among the best auto reviewers.
With deepest love,
Josh.

Awesome review! As usual, Emme Hall is great! And the bloopers at the end is a great touch for the video.
Emme is by far my favorite reviewer for Road Fly...keep up the good work!
I just bought this exact car with the same color. I absolutely love it. It has plenty of zip and also gets us around 26mpg city on average and 37 hwy in real world driving. I love the car so far. Emme - I've heard some negative feedback about Ford's dual-clutch auto. How did it react for you? (Also found in the FIesta).
One of Car and Driver's 10 Best, two years in a row!
Glad I got the 5-speed and not the dual clutch.
Very happy with my Focus!
Love the review, but i absolutely HATE the way ford did the 'audiotainment' area for both the fiesta and the focus, could there BE more buttons above and below?

I love it! I just bought mine last night!! 😍😍❤️ I got the sedan version.
Gregory A. Did the transmission ever give you issues?
When are you guys testing the ST?
Emme Hall - "Rock's" it it on so many levels. French toast and bacon, Heavy fit men, 6 laundry baskets.... there's an ST coming. You are an old soul
Hey Emme, I'm heavy, especially around the midrange, I mean there is some torque there for sure, about 180lb on two feet. Plus I am voice activated without the use of paddles.

Care to go for a ride?
Alright Emme, we need to know. Which is better, this or the Elantra?
Why didn't you reviewed the park assist.
Big fan of the show! Keep the videos coming. Thanks !
I'm hoping the very strict quality controls at the new Chattanooga, TN plant where the 2012 Passat is built prove to work...time will tell.
The cubby hole is not for your phone. It is an option that was not available in the model
you tested.
Hey Emme, just was curious to ask if you would recommend this car, I really like the focus hatchback looks and the features. Emme you are my favorite reviewer I would like if you did more luxury cars.

Do you mind me asking how the sedan was better all around? Because it seems to me that the hatch is better in every way

This is quite possibly one of the more creative ways someone has expressed their admiration for me. Well played, sir.

Please do a review on the 2013 Ford Taurus SHO.
Bought a 5dr focus last weekend, love it so far!
Good job on the review Emma! I like Fords and have had real good luck with them. My 2007 Mustang has 70,000 miles on it. Focus looks good. How about the interiour feeling/material? Us cars love plastics.
Good price though!
Thx for the review!
Does it auto park?
Emme, you finally reviewed my car! I have a hideously unreliable black Titanium sedan. I've had it almost a year and the MyFord Touch and SYNC still don't work like they're supposed to, even after the update. Yeah what are the real world averages for the Elantra?
@roadflytv you guys should review the new lincoln mkt ecoboost! i was wondering if their new suspension has done it enough justice to make it a serious competitor in the luxury crossover segment, god knows it has the engine for it! thanks and hope you consider it!
should i buy this car over upcoming dodge dart and vw jetta
Are they good cars?
Please can you have a talk about the land rover defender please I am thinking of buying one and haven't seen one video review about the land rover defender
I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that the Focus has a double clutch, so it'd make sense that it was jerky and rolled back.. it should drive like a manual except without the pedal.
nice but no video of rear seats and legroom ..:(
I think this is a fantastic vehicle. I test drove the SE model and really liked it. I can't wait for the ST in the fall. It should be more like the old SVT model and really kick some arse.
perfect car
The big intake vents are a useful option for those wishing to improve the performance by adding a turbo charger.
Good job Emme.
Have to say that I love your videos. You have a good blend of an American and European aproach :)
WOW JUST ORDERED 1 OF THESE WAS REALY LOOKING FORWARD TO IT BUT HAY NOT NOW!
I just came here to say, Can you made a Focus ST 2013 review ?
i love your reviews. i drove this car but i found it soooooooo slow. thnak god for the new trim coming soon.
their voice command system isnt very user friendly either, a friend and i tried getting the fiesta to play the usb stick we had in it for about 20 minutes before we had to look it up in the manual.
Emme - I want you to do all the reviews. You are hilarious! And so smart.
That interior is incredible, great review as alwaya
Hope they do an RS version.
Wow six baskets 😮 love it
is it me or the impreza sedan looks like the focus sedan and same with the hatchback
I knew I was going to enjoy a womans perspective on a car evaluation! I loved to laundry basket practicality!!! LOL!
Love your reviews.
Love your stuff Emme!
There is Turbo in Europe. In many different versions and one has always the benefit of getting a chip tuning.

Emme... You effin go girl! Love your review style!!
Great review Emme
EMME why havnt i ever seen you around the DMV area?? love your reviews you are too funny. would be great to meet you!
ur awesome! thx for the great review and I love your hair style and smile
I like the review, but i love Emme!

I personally am not sold on the hatchback, but I would consider a Titanium sedan model.
Ford should offer Focus RS 500 in US.
Nice review Emma, like always.
Is it Fuel-Economics ? :\
Had this car as a rental. It was so nice I almost bought one for my self.
Personally, I love the hatchback design better on most cars. I think the Focus looks awesome, and has a lot of good things going for it. But I have heard of some faultiness in the transmission.
I had a rental 2012 focus and for being a 4 banger its fast! got to 130km hr no problem
Great Review. Ford is definitely the best american manufacturer because they make intelligent cars (torque vectoring is pretty witty) that are are relevant to their customers. The front grille did open if you watch closely when the car is being driven.
Can you guys test the backseat more
😂
Price isn't a shiny part of this car. Just comparing, Hyundai offers more with thousands less. But everyone has an opinion on what brand of car to buy. Tnx.
And the "cubby hole" is called a cup holder. Not a phone holder lol
There's a small unused square hole next to the cup holders , idk what it is for .
a phone holder lol
Kayla Belknap change
great review to go along with a great car.
And you guys also get a wagon version too! Not to mention the diesel engines.
I understand that they made alot of good vehicles but todays vehicles are very reliable i dont understand why everyone hates on these companies. Nothing we can do and i need something that is halfway decent for winter and wont break the bank on gas.
Wow I thought this car got 40mpg? Also, I have never heard of daytime running headlights that also use the fog lights...
I have the 1.0 ecoboost, lovely car plenty of power for what it is.
Good job there Emme...
the one near my home is awsome. we couldnt ask for better service
my focus SEL averages about 41 MPG on the highway
Nice Car !! Please do a review of the 2013 Ford Focus ST !!
Nice. But the price? Wrx baby
