The Frankfurt Radio Symphony has fast become my favorite orchestra! The sound quality, sound engineering , camera, etc... are second to none.... not to mention the SUPERB artistry of the musicians. Leleux is such a master, and a true delight to listen to and watch. THANK YOU!!
François Leleux is really a master. I thought his rendition of the first and second movements were astonishing, full of energy, subtelty, both effortless and singing. Then came the third movement, which is devilishly difficult. I've never heard something like this. I'm speechless.
François is such a delight to watch and listen to - both his oboe and conducting. He's like a ray of sunshine. His oboe just warms my heart. I'm grateful that Frankfurt Radio Symphony has a UA-cam channel that makes their concerts/performance available to the public, to those of us that were not and are not able to go physically.

Me and my wife had the pleasure to experience Francois in Vienna - both as an Oboist and as a conductor. It was stunningly beautiful and impressive. A blessing! We are so grateful. The best thing about him is that he does not appear to be arrogant - just someone who is incredibly talented and enjoying to enjoy people with his talent.

Этот концерт запал в душу...(с 2011 года) Могу слушать, исполнять до бесконечности...В этом вся музыка И. С. Баха!

Barth Rob I think it is because the entire performance is not by historical instruments, but by modern orchestral instruments. If he used a Baroque oboe, the clarity of sound would be less evident than this performance.

This presto is so presto! Presto! I cannot imagine how can I do that. Maybe whether deciding slower or quicker playing this presto considering breathing and this work I think is a case or it's just their interpretation about which I'm curious.

BWV 1059. This work, which is a reconstruction from a fragment, is listed as a keyboard concerto in the standard reference works. It works well as an oboe concerto, and Leleux is fantastic. But it's hard to hear the harpsichord; for a hall of this size, and an orchestra of this size, I think it is not loud enough.
Honestly I think that the balance between the orchestra and the harpsichord _as basso continuo_ is quite good here, at least in the recording (maybe it was not while listening "live"). Of course it would have been too light as a solo instrument, but given the oboe playing the melodies the harpsichord accompaniment works very well.
