Faschingsschwank aus Wien op.26
Sviatoslav Richter, piano
00:12 Allegro (Sehr Lebhaft)
08:21 Romanze (Ziemlich Langsam)
11:25 Scherzino
13:32 Intermezzo (Mit Größter Energie)
15:24 Finale (Höchst Lebhaft)
Moscow, Great Hall of Tchaikovsky Conservatory , 11 October 1976
One of my favourite ever performances of this piece.
Not a dull moment. The entire performance is vibrant and exciting.
This performance is far and away my favorite video of this piece. Richter immerses himself yet maintains amazing control of his dynamics and phrasing, eliciting complex sonorities from the piano. His interpretation is so convincing here, with very clean pedaling throughout. This is a joy to watch the maestro and to listen to his heavenly playing. Thank you for this great post!
Greatest of all times
So many sublime moments. But Richter also gets this: how Schumann, in some fleeting yet immortal moments, managed to aestheticize the grotesque and vulgar.
He may not have been the greatest, but he was the God among men for sure ...
?
Who is greater than God?
he is way too good
loved it
