The idea of kissing goodnight, but with gas masks involved, breaks my heart a little. There isn't really hope here, but love and endurance. Beautifully done.
Yeah, crazy how well everything fits. Sure, snow -> nuclear winter, but what about all the other winter/Christmas stuff? Fire? Frightful weather? Low light? It's surprisingly perfect.
I'm always amazed how these old songs hold up to remakes and style-swaps. It's also impressive how these old, generally happy songs give such a depressed, defeated fell when given this treatment. I wouldn't be surprised if this cut ended up in an end-of-the-world type movie. You guys are amazing at this!
It’s like The Police’s “Every Breath You Take”, though that one’s misinterpreted apparently. I will bring that one up because it’s so upbeat sounding it nearly masks how screwed up the lyrics are. Like the Barbie song by Aqua. I thought it was a happy advertisement about Barbie when it’s about objectification. There’s plenty of “happy” songs like Rudolph that their proses are just messed up. Getting by because no one pays attention to the lyrics all that much. I wouldn’t be surprised if the songs were supposed to be depressing or sad, though.
@@ByTheStorm I just can't get over the beginning of Rudolph. Yes, if I know all the other reindeer I'm going to to recall the most famous of them all. That lyric makes no sense at all.
@@NuitAsdf I am vaguely familiar, due to my roommate being a Call of Cthulu fan and also having opinions on Lovecraft's work lol. I will attempt to remember your suggestion.
Some people think you fight depression with hope. Those of us who have lived through it know better. You fight depression with survival, and this rendition perfectly captures that. Bravo.
It just works so well. Recontextualizes the lyrics very well. The fire [of civilisation] might be dying, and this entire struggle may be nothing but a long goodbye, but as long as we got each other we are still standing. We still have a reason to. And let it snow all it wants.
I had like some sirens, far away at these unholy night, which make the Background clear that Not every child comes back outta such a unfriendly and disturbed silent night. By the way, nice Work at all 🤘 good Bless you and Happy xmas 😘
There's more content and story concept in this cover than in most modern sci-fi series. Wish this could be heard by some director in search for a good season finale's soundtrack. Che bomba.
The hollow shallowness that is laid bare once it goes awry? With the fire dying representing the breakdown when since there’s basically nothing really bringing them together besides the distribution of material goods made in factories by horribly paid workers, they depart into the ether never to speak to each other again? - In hindsight, I’ve never experienced a holiday season that wasn’t based around materialism and once I realized how shallow XMas actually is? I couldn’t take it seriously anymore. Why does the holiday season have to be about materialism and lording that over the less fortunate they can buy more? Or there’s lying to children about an idol every year, eliminating the intimacy for idolatry which makes me unable to take conservative Christians seriously when they whine about the holiday. There hasn’t been anything resembling what Jesus would approve of. Not all those fools who killed each other for a PS3 or trample each other over crap that isn’t on sale.
@@ByTheStorm I was more thinking that back when winter festivals first became a thing, the winter was a lot more dangerous, similar to the implied apocalypse in the video. As such, the idea of just wanting to be with loved ones and know they're safe inside was a more major thing.
Man.. I was in a band ten or so years ago, and this sound is the closest thing I’ve heard that was close to our genre. Wish I could’ve had this answer back then when I tried to explain what we sounded like..
The setting you came up with for this would make a really neat short horror game. Imagine being stuck in a bunker with freezing temperatures outside, rations running out, and you're not sure how long it'll be before it's safe to go out again... I should do that. I've been considering different options to make a first game to learn Godot. Maybe this could be it.
I swear to god these dudes know something about the futute. also: why is this video exactly 4:20? also also: as always a really awesome Cover with great spin in it!
Greetings from Ukraine! I'll do my best to make this song our national anthem after the nuclear apocalypse! (if not turn into a shadow on the wall, of course)
Non suona più post rock che prog? Comunque ragazzi è carezza per le mie orecchie, già pregusto di farla diventare il tormentone della sera della vigilia 😂❤

Reminds me of Romantically Apocapyptic... what a great webcomic it was!
Love the spin you put on this classic. It's amazing how well the lyrics lend themselves to a post-apocalyptic reading.
Yeah, crazy how well everything fits. Sure, snow -> nuclear winter, but what about all the other winter/Christmas stuff? Fire? Frightful weather? Low light? It's surprisingly perfect.
You always manage to come up with the most creative and tonally inverted interpretations of the existing lyrics, and they still work. It's incredible.

you've made the lyrics sound incredibly sad and beautiful at the same time. And I love the final arrangement. Let it snow!
The fire is slowly dying, my dear we’re still good-byeing…
Let that ash and dust fall
... and we'll wake up to them...
Finally, a christmas song I don't despise lol
I suggest you look for Cthulhu carols. Even if you don't know what Cthulhu is, you could like the lyrics. ;)
Absolutely accurate!

These guys also covered 'Last Christmas'.
@@Dukkha-Bhavana Yeah, I guess I forgot.
Yes more songs for my winter depression list that gets me through these horribly long scandinavian winters.
That bass line in the 0:39 is so filthy and dirty my gods. I mean that in a good way. Its so godsdamn heavy i love it.
I got here as quickly as I could
No rush. Gotta give it time for the fallout to dissipate.

The quiet bit is so eerie! Love the mood of the whole thing 🩶

new Melodicka cover as my birthday gift: that's amazing 🎂❄️🖤
Happy Birthday!
That´s so nice
"Hey...do you wanna build a snowman?"
"If we go out there, we're gonna die."
"...Yeah."
Wow. I will never think of this song in the same way ever again.
These brothers definitely know how to make such a pretty happy song into the dark depression!😅 Love it!🖤✨
I had like some sirens, far away at these unholy night, which make the Background clear that Not every child comes back outta such a unfriendly and disturbed silent night.

In a certain sense, this reflects the true meaning of christmas.

what a brilliant reimagining 🏆 love the lore!
As a student who currently works on his degree in prog rock, I will kindly judge the progy-ness of this new masterpiece
A whole new meaning. Well done. Love it.
Love the fresh approach to a classic. Definitely unique and intriguing.

Someone has to play this over Titan Cocijo detonating in Elite Dangerous.

Theme song for the next Fallout game? lol
