      @@salemkhamis6788 im kind of in the same boat, love the build and sturdiness of the Pro X's but I also love how light the 650's are, I'm planning on an upgrade so I don't know if I should follow the Beyer path (the 1990's probably) or the Sennys path (the 800S) I know, price difference and all but still.

      Lol I did the same about the same time, a couple months ago got someone on Etsy mod them for me, then a month later Beyer released the Pro X version. I bought it and at first didn't like it, but adjusted soon and now the classic is collecting dust. These new ones are unbelievable. They sound really different but much better, the upgrade gap is huge. The Pro X is my favorite now.

    I was going to wait for these, but wound up with the 900 Pro X's as they work better for my home situation. Can confirm the top of the band starts exerting some pressure at the 3 hour mark, but overall I'm happy with them.

      hi, audio nerd here, honestly i wouldnt recommend either but if you really wanted them and struggled to choose id suggest picking off your environment
      if you're in your room and its quiet and that's all you're really into then the open backs as 9/10 times an open back would be better and its true in this case as well however if you're also going to use them outside in louder environments then probably the 700 for the isolation

    • @rene837
      @rene837 4 місяці тому

      Headband and pads are better on the 770 imho, but open-back is always the better choice if isolation isn't a problem. The 900 Pro X isn'T a good headphone for music though, because the new drivers are fairly dull because of too much front dampening.

    i can be sensitive to symbols and the such when they arent done well since they sound extremely sharp to me and I have extremely "good" hearing which makes it so i can easily hear frequencies above what most people can. Like I can hear the electric noise and coil wine out of tons of electronics that most people cannot hear at all (its one reason why i CANNOT use airpods at all). Anyone who ever had and liked the tuning of the original DT 770 Pro should avoid the new "Limited Edition".
    I have both and do not like the sound tunning of the new one... 🤔
    WHY? The bass feels boomy (and loose), mid range sounds artificial. Both male and female voices have a sharp and thin character. The whole sound signature has this slight an un-natural and boxy feel. It even sounds less open and spacious than the original.
    It's not a bad closed back headphone for the price... but does not make me listen more and more music (unlike the original) . Even gaming sounds less engaging to me.

    I recently returned these, they were no good for gaming. Sound was very far away, the wide sound stage didn't benefit the games and it was especially noticeable on spells and cinematics where male vocals were so muted. It was way too sharp in the highs and required EQ which still could never get it just right, and mids being so muted meant certain sounds in games were now gone. I also did not find it comfortable.

    Also I'm in the UK so have to get them from polar and looking to pair then with the Schiit Fulla 3e. But I know I want to go with Beyerdynamic for my new headphones.
    Ps love the content mate.

    I'm probably 3 pairs deep into DT 770 Pro's over the last decade. They are just synonymous with headphones at this point. They are reliable, repairable and sound great. They are the 'old faithful'. Needless to say, as soon as I watched your video I picked a pair up, happy to support a good product!

      Does the quality of the materials used appear comparable to older versions of the DT770s? The limited were my first headphone purchase and I'm curious if the quality of materials/build has been cheapened over time. They are awesome headphones either way!

      I've just recently discovered the 770, after trying the MDR 7506. We're so lucky that one of the most popular, durable and repairable 'buy it for life' headphones also happens to be genuinely one of the best sounding headphones you can buy. I was down the audiophile rabbit hole way too long and these have thankfully dragged me out of it

    I've been enjoying my DT 1990 Pros for almost 4 years now and the only issues I've had are that the service kit cable (that connects the drivers together) has finally shorted out. However, I've got a cable replacement on the way and it's a very simple fix that you can do by yourself without having to do any soldering. The only reason the cable is even shorted is due to one of my pets getting caught under my desk, snagging the cable and yanking my headphones off my head onto the floor abruptly a couple of times. I expect to keep using these cans for at least another decade without having to service them much if at all.

      @@TheHulksMistress I do still like them a lot, but I never owned the standard model so can't speak to the differences. At least for me the sound signature is great all around, and I find them to be quite comfortable, even if they can get a bit warm

    Two things... If I needed to replace my 770 Pro, I would grab these without hesitation based on your review. Heck, it was your review that turned me onto the 770 Pros in the first place. ;) The second thing, however, is that BD has stopped selling the replacement headband cushions that fit these. I know because the "leather" recently started peeling off in one spot on mine and the only available replacements were from 3rd party suppliers, and they're the exact same or poorer "quality" than the original. I recommend, and am currently using, a removable/washable cover that goes over the headband cushion to keep it from flaking/peeling away. Thanks for the killer review as always!

      @@profosist Thanks for the heads-up. The cushion itself still works and feels great, it's just that outer material that's failing, but when the cushion gives out I'll know what to look at. :D

    What would you recommend for movies and gaming (adventure)? I was looking into DT900 Pro X but I need sound isolation so am looking at 700 Pro X. But now I'm wondering about the 770 Pro X... what do you think? (Also I prefer bigger pads and less clamping force)
    Edit: I think you answered my question at the end.

      The Pro X is a huge upgrade, huge. I'm in love with them. The bass quality adds to the soundstage presence and reality, and the mids, although similarly tuned, no longer sound veiled anymore! And the treble has more details and accuracy. I think the image and soundstage are better, wider, deeper, more precise at the same time. They're also easier to drive. Comfort is exactly the same, they feel the same.

    Why did they use these new drivers?! They should have kept the 80 and 250 Ohm drivers, but now it's definitely a pass. The new drivers are just overdampened and dull, even though the treble is still sharp. Would have gotten it if it came with the old 80 Ohm driver.

    • @burns0100
      @burns0100 4 місяці тому

      I prefer the new driver, as he said it changes a lot of things for the better and moves some of the peaks to a different area that people might prefer.

    • @LyK0sa
      @LyK0sa 4 місяці тому

      @@burns0100I wonder how much of that is down to pad wear on his old 770. Beyers tend to relax a fair bit in the treble as the pads break in. Plus you've got the notoriously bad beyer unit variation, so taking a single measurement as gospel might not tell the full story.
      But ignoring that and taking these measurements at face value, it would look like a downgrade to most people. An even bigger chunk scooped out of the upper bass and lower mids, more recessed upper mids, and even peakier treble.

    • @profosist

    I'm actually running the DT 990 Pros with 250OHM for my music production and they are a solid choice! I plan on buying the DT 770 Pro X LE's because I hear they are slightly better than the 990 Pro's. As for production I tend to produce tons of EDM such as Trance, Dubstep, and Progressive House, so lots of bass heavy music.
    Someone had recommended me the Audio Technicas over the DT 990's, but nah. The velour ear muffs feel amazing and they don't warm up your ear to the point you are sweating, and with a quiet place and having them as open-back headphones, they are amazing for mixing and mastering.

  • @Etervi0n

    I bought it long ago, the first pair lasted for almost 2 years but I had to use warranty due to some plastic breaking and got send a new pair that lasted even more than that, in the end it broke too plus the earpads go so worn it really made was painful to use. It got really warm too, with both stock and leather pads. In the end I decided to go for ATH M50X and couldn't be happier. it's really worn after a couple years but the build quality is much better while sound is really good too.
    Both are great choices tbh.

    Nice, these might be something for me. I'm liking EDM with low bass. Love to watch all those concerts on UA-cam like Tomorrowland and Luminosity but also all kinds of metal.
    Budget 200-400 euro.
    I like the optional cable with built in DAC also with either usb-c or lightning connector.
    Coming from Sennheiser HD25 and a pair of green old Razer headphones.
