Solar said they wrote this song for all the people in life that support you who you forget to be grateful because they are always there... like the stars, wind, flowers, and sun that are always there but we forget to be thankful for.
They better keep Byul singing. She has a lower register that layers the group and can send them into such a fuller harmony. Solar has that warm soft tonality with a power vocal, Wheein has the slight nasal but such a delicate delivery at higher softer pitches, Hwasa obviously has the sultry consolidated vocal expression. Byul - has that sing song relaxed lower pitch delivery and if you add in the rap in an almost conversational manner, it just WORKS. Her lower end expiration delivery is raw/raspy, but that's what makes it actually kinda cool. Love their layered concept too.

항상 고마운 우리 마마무, 언니들 덕분에 힘든 시기를 그나마 잘 버텨온거 같아. 아직까지 불안정한 나를 언제나 즐겁게 해주는 건 언니들이였어. 이 노래를 5~6년 전에 처음 들었을때가.. 중1 후반때쯤의 내가 우울증에 걸려서 방에 틀어박혀 기댈 사람 하나없이 힘들어할때 처음듣게 되었어. 안좋은 생각까지 하던 나에게 이 노래가 위로를 해주는 거 같았어. Here I am, once again, 6 years after this was released, still crying my eyes out, I love MAMAMOO more than I loved anything in my entire life, I grew up with them, they made my life better, they were the only stable thing in my life while everything was always spinning around, they were always my comfort, my true home, and I miss them so much I miss them so so so so much, I want them together again, I want my babies back, and I wish I could see them live, I could show them how much I love them....
I said this in the other mv, but i truly feel this is the real mamamoo voice. as if they went back to predebut days, when they didn't have a set image they wanted to show as mamamoo, and hand picked their own selves back into the present day where their skills as an active artists have increased so much, mashed the two up, and produced the most perfect album that truly signifies who kim yong sun, moon byul i, jung whee in and ahn hye jin is and what their vocals, image, personality truly is. this comeback is so good, like the concept the messages i love everything!! Absolutely agreed! MMM is my #1 (alongside got7) and as much as I adore them, I don't love nearly half of their tracks. They're enjoyable and still good listens because the ladies are THAT amazing, but I just didn't feel much from the songs outside of the members' efforts. I could possibly state that I fully love Hello and Purple, though and it is because of what you said - they were more talent focused at the start, and I think the previous mini came close to their musical preferences. But this album is sublime!!!! Not only did they show us what they could do with minimal production, but they showed they could write better lyrics than what they were supplied in the past. (Well, I don't know the language yet but the translations seem accurate enough to make such a statement.) Even if they fumble at all this year, when taking on a genre, I feel the albums will make a better impact than if they were to have played it safe. Well, as safe as MMM could anyway; their music has always been outside the norm of K-pop. I wish them all the best, and hope they can manage to be well-rested during this busy year.
I don't know how I want to respond. Not necessarily because of your comment but because this album is so strong it does makes you wonder if it is a re-amaginning of Mamamoo. This is making me alter my expectations, of what i expect from the group or what I want from the group. I'm someone who has a admittedly limited musical range. I like what i like and stick with it. Until recently I was on a strict diet of Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Queensryche, GnR, & the typical 80s rock that plays on the local radio. Kpop is something that none of my Co Workers friends, or family gets. It's just this anomaly that when it shows up in the local news for what ever reasons, they don't know what to make of it. My self I had no idea Kpop existed until two years ago, and if I had i probably would have had the same reaction as those around me do today. Enter Secret. By complete accident Secret was the first Kpop group I ever heard & I was instantly facilitated. Oddly enough my initial reaction was the same as the most recent comment at the time, "What the hell did I just watch?". But I liked it, a lot. I spent the first month trying to figure out what in the hell I just witnessed. Who were they where are they from. Once I figured that out I spent the next year learning about them, importing all their albums and building a playlist out of 60 of their tracks. Secret's diversity in musical style is what I liked most about the group and kept me tidally locked to them. Having three faces (concept, pop, ballads) kept their music feeling fresh. Yes Secret was the group I was happy hanging my alter ego's hat on. Then 2018 happened & I feel like my pet ran away or my car broke down. I "need" a new Kpop group! Enter Mamamoo. I came into Mamamoo (after hearing Piano Man) looking for that funky jazzy pop sound and that is what I got. I've added 26 Mamamoo tracks to my Kpop playlist that is now exceeding 5 hours & I was happy with what Mamamoo was bringing to the table. I knew what I expected from them. Then Yellow Flower happened and destroyed my preconceived exceptions. What do I want from Mamamoo now? Do i want the jazzy pop, or this new Mamamoo. The answer is, both, and more (I'm greedy). I hope Mamamoo continues to evolve and explore different musical styles. While it's good to have a core identity, being diverse doesn't hurt and I think will only make them stronger. Ok that was longer than expected.
ForceX I'm not the OP you responded to but nevertheless I wanted to thank you for taking the time to write such a review of not simply the album but your experience as a fan listening to the album. What I like about where they went with the majority of Yellow Flower is that while it's a couple different sounds, they're all certainly influenced by jazz/r&b. Hwasa's solo, for example, has such a wicked groove. I bet it's safe to say they are influenced by the likes of Beyonce, who has also been bringing different genres into her music. And like Beyonce, Mamamoo hasn't let go of what ultimately makes them work. They're evolving and it's thrilling to witness. :) P.S. Not incredibly well-educated in the genre overall, let alone the band, but Iron Maiden is one of those metal acts I always revisit. And a selfish thank you for sharing your first Kpop experience! Just starting to get into B.A.P and they mention Secret quite a bit - been meaning to look into them.

Its amazing to see when new fans come in and actually appreciate the groups as articts rather than label them as "this is kpop" i got into kpop through gangnam style... actually no i got to know of kpop through gangnam style and thats actually what i thought was kpop until my korean friend enlightened me to the actual world of kpop. its amazing the diversity of sounds that can just come out of one nation, whereas "pop" is primarily labelled as american, candian and english music (this may be wrong, but im just saying stereotypically) i think a strength of kpop is the ability to combine, smash, blend, mix all the different genres under one big umbrella, and thats what draws others who aren't say korean or from asian background to be so hooked into it. i do hope mamamoo continues to florish, try different styles AND WINNN
I think the most beautiful they have as a band is that feeling they give of wanting to just be friends with them, you know? Like they so gentle, kind and funny to each other. I've never seen a girlband with this unique interaction. That's why I like them so much, it isn't just about the inmense talent they have, it's about who they are as a person. I really want them to be even more big, they deserve it.

I've never been into any sort of K-pop, bands or singers before, I always thought they sound too fake and unrelatable. Most of my friends throughout middle, high school and even uni have always been hardcore fanboys and fangirls, and I honestly always feel left out because I can never get into K-pop and be part of their conversations. However, I've literally randomly discovered Mamamoo on youtube 2 weeks ago and I am truly a big ass MooMoo now. Their voices are really something else, I genuinely think they are one of the most talented group of artists I've seen and that they are actually passionate about their artistery. They don't overpower each other and their voices actually blend and complement each other so well. Also, knowing that songs like this is composed by Solar herself just makes me love it (and them) more! I've tried listening to other K-pop idols since then but only gotten into the indie, RnB ones but not so much of the mainstream ones, most of them just sound too doctored and generic for my taste.
This is a very valuable little gem of just over four million views. If you found it, save it in a safe place. This is more valuable than the fame of 99% of kpops already released. It has soul, it heals and it's priceless. You are lucky to have found this

Never letting go. I will love mamamoo always. I wish I knew about them before. I had a pretty hard childhood, I was so lonely all the time. I am 20 years now, and I don’t feel lonely anymore. I feel loved and i will always feel grateful. Can’t wait to share more lovely moments with this girls. Sometimes we can’t change the past but we can make great memories for the future. Maybe mamamoo wasn’t my past, but they are my present and my future.

They better keep Byul singing. She has a lower register that layers the group and can send them into such a fuller harmony. Solar has that warm soft tonality with a power vocal, Wheein has the slight nasal but such a delicate delivery at higher softer pitches, Hwasa obviously has the sultry consolidated vocal expression. Byul - has that sing song relaxed lower pitch delivery and if you add in the rap in an almost conversational manner, it just WORKS. Her lower end expiration delivery is raw/raspy, but that's what makes it actually kinda cool. Love their layered concept too.

항상 고마운 우리 마마무, 언니들 덕분에 힘든 시기를 그나마 잘 버텨온거 같아. 아직까지 불안정한 나를 언제나 즐겁게 해주는 건 언니들이였어. 이 노래를 5~6년 전에 처음 들었을때가.. 중1 후반때쯤의 내가 우울증에 걸려서 방에 틀어박혀 기댈 사람 하나없이 힘들어할때 처음듣게 되었어. 안좋은 생각까지 하던 나에게 이 노래가 위로를 해주는 거 같았어. I said this in the other mv, but i truly feel this is the real mamamoo voice. as if they went back to predebut days, when they didn't have a set image they wanted to show as mamamoo, and hand picked their own selves back into the present day where their skills as an active artists have increased so much, mashed the two up, and produced the most perfect album that truly signifies who kim yong sun, moon byul i, jung whee in and ahn hye jin is and what their vocals, image, personality truly is.

Absolutely agreed! MMM is my #1 (alongside got7) and as much as I adore them, I don't love nearly half of their tracks. They're enjoyable and still good listens because the ladies are THAT amazing, but I just didn't feel much from the songs outside of the members' efforts. I could possibly state that I fully love Hello and Purple, though and it is because of what you said - they were more talent focused at the start, and I think the previous mini came close to their musical preferences. But this album is sublime!!!! Not only did they show us what they could do with minimal production, but they showed they could write better lyrics than what they were supplied in the past. (Well, I don't know the language yet but the translations seem accurate enough to make such a statement.) Even if they fumble at all this year, when taking on a genre, I feel the albums will make a better impact than if they were to have played it safe. Well, as safe as MMM could anyway; their music has always been outside the norm of K-pop.
I wish them all the best, and hope they can manage to be well-rested during this busy year.
I don't know how I want to respond. Not necessarily because of your comment but because this album is so strong it does makes you wonder if it is a re-amaginning of Mamamoo. This is making me alter my expectations, of what i expect from the group or what I want from the group.
I'm someone who has a admittedly limited musical range. I like what i like and stick with it. Until recently I was on a strict diet of Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Queensryche, GnR, & the typical 80s rock that plays on the local radio. Kpop is something that none of my Co Workers friends, or family gets. It's just this anomaly that when it shows up in the local news for what ever reasons, they don't know what to make of it. My self I had no idea Kpop existed until two years ago, and if I had i probably would have had the same reaction as those around me do today.
Enter Secret. By complete accident Secret was the first Kpop group I ever heard & I was instantly facilitated. Oddly enough my initial reaction was the same as the most recent comment at the time, "What the hell did I just watch?". But I liked it, a lot. I spent the first month trying to figure out what in the hell I just witnessed. Who were they where are they from. Once I figured that out I spent the next year learning about them, importing all their albums and building a playlist out of 60 of their tracks. Secret's diversity in musical style is what I liked most about the group and kept me tidally locked to them. Having three faces (concept, pop, ballads) kept their music feeling fresh. Yes Secret was the group I was happy hanging my alter ego's hat on. Then 2018 happened & I feel like my pet ran away or my car broke down. I "need" a new Kpop group!
Enter Mamamoo. I came into Mamamoo (after hearing Piano Man) looking for that funky jazzy pop sound and that is what I got. I've added 26 Mamamoo tracks to my Kpop playlist that is now exceeding 5 hours & I was happy with what Mamamoo was bringing to the table. I knew what I expected from them.
Then Yellow Flower happened and destroyed my preconceived exceptions. What do I want from Mamamoo now? Do i want the jazzy pop, or this new Mamamoo. The answer is, both, and more (I'm greedy). I hope Mamamoo continues to evolve and explore different musical styles. While it's good to have a core identity, being diverse doesn't hurt and I think will only make them stronger.

ForceX I'm not the OP you responded to but nevertheless I wanted to thank you for taking the time to write such a review of not simply the album but your experience as a fan listening to the album. What I like about where they went with the majority of Yellow Flower is that while it's a couple different sounds, they're all certainly influenced by jazz/r&b. Hwasa's solo, for example, has such a wicked groove. I bet it's safe to say they are influenced by the likes of Beyonce, who has also been bringing different genres into her music. And like Beyonce, Mamamoo hasn't let go of what ultimately makes them work. They're evolving and it's thrilling to witness. :)
P.S. Not incredibly well-educated in the genre overall, let alone the band, but Iron Maiden is one of those metal acts I always revisit. And a selfish thank you for sharing your first Kpop experience! Just starting to get into B.A.P and they mention Secret quite a bit - been meaning to look into them.

Its amazing to see when new fans come in and actually appreciate the groups as articts rather than label them as "this is kpop" i got into kpop through gangnam style... actually no i got to know of kpop through gangnam style and thats actually what i thought was kpop until my korean friend enlightened me to the actual world of kpop. its amazing the diversity of sounds that can just come out of one nation, whereas "pop" is primarily labelled as american, candian and english music (this may be wrong, but im just saying stereotypically) i think a strength of kpop is the ability to combine, smash, blend, mix all the different genres under one big umbrella, and thats what draws others who aren't say korean or from asian background to be so hooked into it.

I think the most beautiful they have as a band is that feeling they give of wanting to just be friends with them, you know? Like they so gentle, kind and funny to each other. I've never seen a girlband with this unique interaction. That's why I like them so much, it isn't just about the inmense talent they have, it's about who they are as a person. I really want them to be even more big, they deserve it.

I've never been into any sort of K-pop, bands or singers before, I always thought they sound too fake and unrelatable. Most of my friends throughout middle, high school and even uni have always been hardcore fanboys and fangirls, and I honestly always feel left out because I can never get into K-pop and be part of their conversations. However, I've literally randomly discovered Mamamoo on youtube 2 weeks ago and I am truly a big ass MooMoo now. Their voices are really something else, I genuinely think they are one of the most talented group of artists I've seen and that they are actually passionate about their artistery. They don't overpower each other and their voices actually blend and complement each other so well. Also, knowing that songs like this is composed by Solar herself just makes me love it (and them) more! I've tried listening to other K-pop idols since then but only gotten into the indie, RnB ones but not so much of the mainstream ones, most of them just sound too doctored and generic for my taste.

The album name is YELLOW FLOWER and there is HWASA'S solo there so its like "her" album.

A little confusing since she introduced herself as 'four with the sun' as hwa also means fire, the sun, in sino korean, while sa is the number 4 in sino korean. I guess she could be sun as well, but it's most likely referring to yellow flower.

Never letting go. I will love mamamoo always. I wish I knew about them before. I had a pretty hard childhood, I was so lonely all the time. I am 20 years now, and I don’t feel lonely anymore. I feel loved and i will always feel grateful. Can’t wait to share more lovely moments with this girls. Sometimes we can’t change the past but we can make great memories for the future. Maybe mamamoo wasn’t my past, but they are my present and my future.
4 years have passed. I’m almost 24 now. Celebrating Mamamoo’s 10th anniversary. 4 years of love and happiness. I will never regret loving them. They saved my life.
