Having done towing and now transporting, it’s hard to say which one makes more money but I was a lot more comfortable towing. Each has their pros and cons. For a family man it’s towing for me but also depends what pathway of towing you choose. Auction, general public, police rotation, but with towing your home every night but your not if that makes sense. Their is going to come a point in time where your business will scale up to bigger levels and you will have to decide on 1 wether to cut back on the work or run yourself in the ground trying to keep up with the demand or 2 hire employees to try and help keep up with the demand. Both have their challenges for sure but you’ll have to decide what works for you and your family. I used to tow people 10 miles and they were so thankful and appreciative for the service I provided. Often times they tipped me as well. With the hotshot I can drive 350 miles and they will try and jack around on the price and most certainly complain about something. A tow truck also gets a higher rate per mile generally while driving far less than hotshots. To each their own. Not saying that hotshot is a bad thing or being away from family is either because every man’s situation is different. Rose are my experiences
