    Picked up the white js22 Dinky DKA few days ago, It says crafted in China, I guess to get the us made ones you have to spend some more bucks. I'm pretty new to playing guitar, played some basic stuff here and there, mostly a drummer and trumpet player at heart. I paid 200.00 us for mine and I think for the money it is a great deal for what you get. Sounds and plays nice so far. Thanks for the reviewing this guitar.

      Ah. Another drummer playing guitar! Hahahaha. Dude I'm 30 years drummer and I know what you mean by At Heart. I miss it. I raised my kids alone the last 15 Years and had to stop for a while. I bought keyboards and started writing music and my drum parts are beat out on the keys. Sometimes I'm asked if they are tracked kit. Lol. No I wished they were. My old videos may have some with the heavy drummer influences but being a metal, rock and jazz fusion ish dream theater to rush and primus etc, I had the writing passion. But for ambient. I'm weird I suppose. I have always loved pink floyd instrumentals so. Maybe that fed me. So I'm about 9 months into teaching myself guitar leads etc. I upload all my practice sessions here. For my kids and family later and for my ideas to be saved. Lol. Hope your well and from one drummer to another, be well and greatest luck on your journey. I love mine. One day I'll get a new kit and add to my 3 decades (almost) of gigging and local shows to making my own album playing everything myself.

    I own this guitar and play regularly and in a group. This guitar is phenomenal if you know how to craft your sound. The fretboard is so smooth, and so easy to navigate. This thing hardly ever goes out of tune. The only drawback is the stock pickups. But with a good distortion, this gem screams!!! I love it.

    • @duffman18
      @duffman18 5 років тому +1

      Maybe a weird question, but I've been looking at getting a metal guitar, something like this, basically purely for the playability. Then I'd replace the pickups with very classic sounding humbuckers, something lower gain like the Dimarzio PAFs for example. Is that a good idea? I want it to sound more like a classic les Paul, just with a guitar that's far more playable and doesn't have the notorious tuning problems of a les Paul

      Im not crazy about Jackson necks. They're very thin and very flat and did I say thin? It makes them feel easy to play, but they're not very precise. Ibanez necks are more like a squashed Strat neck. The board is still a little flat for my liking, but the back feels really good; you can get plenty of leverage to roll your hand over the strings. If its really what you're into, Jackson uses about the flattest boards and thinnest necks around, on an off the rack instrument. But, I think the neck is one of the most attractive features and one of the top reasons they end up in the pawn shop; if you're a novice, you'll plateau very quickly, because while they feel good, they encourage sloppy technique. That's why you see way more Ibanez than Jackson on lead.

I would definitely recommend this for any beginner, but I would for experienced players to. Great guitar

      Pro tip.
      Buy a cheap ass soldering iron. Specifically cheap. The more expensive ones get too hot and are usually bigger and get in the way of the simple "one spot soldering".
      Practice 5 minutes on scrap. Once you take the whole 5 min to learn soldering, you can fix a lot of shit.

    Are you using a distortion pedal to get the guitar to sound like at 5:11 of the video? I am learning to play and that's the sound I'm trying to get from my guitar.

    • @d.rosales5803
      @d.rosales5803  7 років тому +5

      Alex F I'm not using a pedal. The amp I'm using (Peavey Vypyr Vip-2) is a modeling amp and I'm using a high distortion present which models a tube screamer pedal going into a Peavey 6505. So technically this is all tones from just the amp but since it's a modeling amp it's programmed to sound like it has pedals and what not.

      ShokuBooda this gonna is good for intermediate players too, but it's not necessarily a guitar I'd recommend an intermediate player to buy. It's more of a guitar that you start with and then play until you are intermediate and then save up money for a more upscale guitar. I'd recommend saving for a little more to get something a little better in quality. But that's just my opinion. By all means go to a local shop and try the guitar out yourself! :)

    i wanted a metal axe. i already have a Dean ML but i mean a real one :D
    so i was looking for 2 humbuckers and a floyd rose and i found the js 22 dka dinky.
    i think you did this review really well and your peavy sounds nearly like my vox vt 40 + so i could get a good comparison.
    i like the fat sound of the bridge pickup in the higher gain zone and the clean and soft sound of the neck pickup in clean zone.
    Because of the bolted on Neck i think this jackson is really solid and the basswood gives her a good weight to play her the whole evening ^^
    this alltogether combined with a floyd rose tremolo and a maple neck makes the jackson js22 dka dinky to a fuckin awesome guitar for this price.
    iam not shure what i buy next but this dinky is on top of the list now.

      but should i change the pickups from a Jackson Js32 dinky or are they good enough. because i think i will buy this guitar

      If you don't have any money to spare, i would say that what you have right now is fine. But, if you ever do have any extra money, try looking into brands like seymour duncan and DiMarzio. I might not have checked out DiMarzio, but they are a very good brand. I would also suggest check out bareknuckle pickups, but they can get kind of expensive.

  • @Stretchwreckedem469
    @Stretchwreckedem469 7 років тому +4

    have you checked out the jackson soloist SLXT yet? it looks so good. it's basically like that guitar, but with a set through neck, no tremolo, and duncan designed pickups.

    • @d.rosales5803
      @d.rosales5803  7 років тому

      sha-d paul yes I've seen that guitar! However it is a lot more expensive in comparison to the Dinky because the Dinky is more beginners and the SLXT I would say is more for intermediate guitarists.

      Jesse Buehler the amp I'm using is a Peavey VYPYR-VIP2 and since it's a modeling amp it has amp presets, so I'm using a peavey 6505 preset, and then I roll the Pre-gain and Post-gain down just below halfway, then I dial back the bass/low to about 3 O'clock and then I roll back the mid to just below half as well.

You should update your title to get more views to I saw someone re-uploaded your video so just a heads up. I know quarantine has everyone picking up new hobbies especially budget friendly. Did you do any upgrades on yours, if so what'd you do? I know I want custom knobs and to add some chrome accents on mine.

    I had the SL3X which had a great neck but I really can’t get on with floyds , this was my 3rd or fourth time after studying / watching UA-cam videos etc but it is such a faff to change strings etc , I even had it set dive only but it’s just a pain in the ass when you’re used to hard tails. I may get one of these though as they really represent value for money with the compound radius and graphite truss rod system . I like Metallica as well as 80s rock and hair metal though so my big dilemma is now satin black or Snow White . I also have a selection of Santa Cruz skateboard and other 80s stickers to adorn it. Keep rockin dude ,ace demo 🤟🏼🕶🤟🏼

      Bovas Melvin fret buzz is common amongst lower end guitars because they aren’t typically set up properly. There are tons of videos on UA-cam you can watch to learn how to set up your guitar. If you don’t want to do it yourself, I think the local guitar center will be willing to set it up for you.

    • @grumpycat6665
      @grumpycat6665 4 роки тому +1

      You can definitely play metal with this beast . Although I would suggest upgrading your gear? Maybe a semi decent amp with a nice distortion pedal . If you get this guitar change the pickups! Trust me , invest in some dragonfire Crusaders pickups and you’ll turn this guitar into a metal machine that competes with higher end guitars and you’ll get an axe companion that’ll last you a life time .

      Better js22 because the 32 I think it has Floyd rose... And Floyd rose in a cheap guitar is not a good deal... The js22 has a simple bridge and you won't have to worry about tuning problems and changing strings is more simple... I recommend you the js22, I have one and it's fuckin amazing!
