Bukayo Saka has to be in purely because of him being able to play as a winger, central midfielder and a left back. That is a perfect tournament player

I completely disagree, in a tournament setting you want the absolute best player in each position with whoever is the second behind them. Yes injuries happen, but you don't really need a jack of all trades player to come in especially without experience and now a 26 man squad.

@@warofmankind I don’t personally rate DCL, but like Spencer said, DCL’s play style is similar to Kane. Imo, I would take Kane and Ings but I think Southgate will have doubts due to Ings’ injury record
I'd pick Greenwood over DCL, Ings and Bamford. Probably the most clinical finisher we have after Kane and also the future of this team. Great to bring on with 15 left on the clock. He's not a typical wide player, hes always in the box looking to get a shot away. Plus we already have Rashford who can play effectively down the middle if anything happened to Kane
Bamford is not as good as Watkins. Not even close.
Utmost respect for including Ben Godfrey, criminally underrated and would add fight, speed, power and strong tackles into the defence. People who have watched him consistently know what i mean

I’m a Norwich fan and although I was sad for the loss of Godfrey I believe that he has a bright career ahead of him and at Everton and I strongly agree he should be chosen for the squad as it will give him experience for international football and I would love him to start in a few years at the World Cup in Qatar (spencer I know you’ll see this SO HEARt it it would make my day)
Put some respect on JWPs name, to think that Willock is even mentioned blows my mind. He is the best set piece taker in Europe and if you watch his Southampton games you will see he is criminally underrated on the ball as well.

But Southgate will start with 5 at the back, 2 CDM, and play Rashford Sterling. Only thing we will be doing is passing long ball to Rashford/Sterling and see how Sterling miss 1v1 against keeper.

B0bby Moon Rashford and sancho should be the two next to Kane imo, their output and goal threat is very very important. Rashford is very underrated i think and his link up with shaw down the left will cause problems for anyone. Rashford 1on1 is arguably the best in the league, I understand the creativeness compared to grealish and foden isn’t there but he’s another goal scorer and he’s proved he can put the ball in the net when you need it most.

It's absolutely absurd that Pickford isn't starting. He has been excellent this season and saved Everton on multiple occasions. By far the best keeper in England and one of the best in the league. You can call me biased but I'd leave Michael Keane as a reserve if it means Pickford starts. The only reason that I can think people don't rate him is if they haven't watched much of him.
The disrespect Kieran Trippier gets amazes me. Scores in a World Cup semi, then goes to Atletico Madrid and wins La Liga in one of the best defensive sides in Europe. Out of sight, out of mind it seems. He is the most complete right-back England has. He along with Walker should be nailed on. TAA, James or AWB should be left to fight out the 3rd spot in a 26-man squad.

Spot on for me tough decision between ward-prowse and greenwood but i personally think we take greenwood instead of lingard and get prowsey in there
Pickford has been our best player (at Everton) for months, in great form. Pope was shocking in the fixtures last time round (and is currently injured) and Henderson had a shocker against Liverpool. Pickford suits the system best and is clearly first choice for me.

Jordan Pickford has genuinely been one of our best players since Christmas. All 3 make mistakes but Pickford fits the role Southgate wants the most

Some players that need consideration imo
1) Bamford : Has been brilliant for Leeds in their first season up and his workrate is second to none
2) Trippier : Honestly seems like a forgotten man since he moved to Spain, but he's been crucial for Atletico's title charge. Also why Southgate will be considering him is because he delivered big time at the world cup
Bamford would get so much more out of the quality attackers than Calvert Lewin. His defensive work would give the likes of foden and Sancho so much attacking freedom
Bamford 100% deserves a place in the Euro squad.

People are so biased about Pickford. After coming out of his mental breakdown he has been great. He seems like a new refined, content person, thus a better goalie.

His issues have been being error-prone and inconsistent. And in terms of inconsistency, there has been a massive gap between poor performances and extraordinary performances. His top performances are top class, wherein he produces performances respective of the best goalkeepers in world football. However, when taking all of his performances into consideration, then he is miles away from such considerations.
In order to put these issues in cotexts, i'll showcase som objective measures: For example, when combining measures of PSxG, PSxG/SoT and PSxG +/- of players with more than 15 games throughout 2020 (which provides us with a reliable indicator of goalkeeping basic and advanced abilities) Pickford was a the bottom 40% amongst all top 5 leagues. However, in 2021 Pickford ranks 6th amongst all 5 leagues. Interestingly, Pope ranks amongst the bottom 10 within the PSxG/SoT measure, indicating that he is not exposed to many shots that are hard to stop/require above average ability, in fact, he is at the bottom of the 2020/2021 season amongst all top 5 leagues. However, he does the basics right, and Burnley's defensive approach and structure provide the reason for this occurrence. Nevertheless, this means that there is insufficient data to make reasonable predictions of Pope's performances when playing for the NT.
This does not go to neglect the ability of neither Pope nor Henderson, they are both good goalkeepers. Based on relevant sources, there could certainly be made arguments for why Henderson should be prioritized ahead of Pickford and vice versa. On a general basis, it's harder to find many good arguments for prioritizing Pope over either Henderson or Pickford in considering the current state of affairs. The inclusion of Pickford in the Europe squad is currently an obvious one, as opposed to the last few years.

I would LOVE Jude Bellingham in the midfield in this English squad. He would be creative in these very tight spaces and he has the skill to attack and defend over someone like lingard, mount or grealish.
