Also, Nina, the sound you classify as castanets are actually a percussion instrument called claves, consisting of a pair of short, wooden sticks about 8-10 inches long and about 1 inch in diameter. El otti 1970. They show two of the judges. Lady with long hair. And the man with his mouth open. They were speechless. But the finalist was already set to win. Or bought. You really should've looked for the translation of the lyrics, just so you could also have an idea of how incredibly emotional the whole thing is. A master piece in my opinion.
@ninaschofield He was known as "The Prince of Song" in Mexico. That was a performance from very early in his career. He went on to rule the world of Spanish romance with ballad after ballad. He's a legend in Mexico, very much like an Elvis. A once in a lifetime voice. You should listen to his mid-career music, and his rendition of My Way (look for "A mi manera") and New York New York. In the late 1980s, when I went on a first date with my now wife of 35 years, she got in the car and handed me a cassette to play while we drove. It was Jose Jose. My goodness! She was in the mood for romance, because those songs and that voice set the mood for our relationship for the next 20 years! WOW!! Thank you for reviewing Jose Jose, but without the lyrics and romance behind the vocal mastery, I imagine you're not getting the FULL EFFECT of this man's impact! Blessings and peace!

This festival and the other Latino music competition, el OTI, are often compared to Eurovision in that they are often accused of being rigged for a specific contestant. The fact that Jose Jose didn't win is what propelled him to fame as people saw through the politics of the contest and recognized his authentic talent. It was sad to see him lose his voice towards the end of his life from years of alcohol and drug abuse.

They show two of the judges. Lady with long hair. And the man with his mouth open. They were speechless. But the finalist was already set to win. Or bought.
Now there was a great redo/rendition done by mark anthony. The guy who was married to j-lo. He did a fantastic job he introduce some electric guitar to it. His voice had same range and duration. Worth listening to!!

Great reacction...🎉
Thats amazing! Jose Jose is realy great
You really should've looked for the translation of the lyrics, just so you could also have an idea of how incredibly emotional the whole thing is.
La dicción es excelente.

Waoo Jose Jose
Hola Nina me gustó tu reacción saludos desde México
