i’m excited for this. everyone complaining about the price should take a tour around one of their bags. go through all the custom hardware and different material choices they make. then consider their lifetime warranty and their excellent customer support. it’s no joke. you pay for the details. you pay for the support. great video jason...but you should have opened the small cube. what’s in the cube?!
Ryan McManimie that is a question for their design team. i’m guessing you are referring to one of the camera cubes. flex fold dividers, unique materials etc...try it out, if the value isn’t there, return it. especially having never used the travel line but anticipating it based on my love of other products i can anticipate the value.
The latch on my every day messenger snapped off while I was in Spain, 2 years after purchase. I sent them a photo and some details, and had a new one waiting for me when I got home. Great customer service.
jake lane it’s a travel bag. You can get camera cubes to hold your camera if you choose. Not everyone who travels shoots. I actually just got mine delivered in the mail today and nowhere on the bag does it imply that it’s a camera bag.
Thank you for this intelligent review. I appreciate that you didn't go over all the features and just gave us the opinions that mattered for deciding whether we want to buy this.
This us my favorite bag. Making the top snap together makes it less liggage-awkward to use day to day when traveling. What i like is that with the carry-on full and checked, i can take the camera cube out, use my camera sling and have extra space in the bag for unplanned shopping items. Pop a 3L (i hear the 6L fits too) and you have quite the system.
Just a warning for those who want to travel light - this is generally HEAVIER (at 2 kg, nothing packed) which means it's less stuff to fit if you want to use it as a carry on. The weight is my ONLY main concern with the Peak Design everyday pack (20 L) ä. Which I love. But think is to heavy to lugg around compared to my other backpacks (that even are larger)
Stopped in SF to see this bag in person today. Looks smaller in person and doesn’t feel too heavy when empty. Defiantly well built and feels like quality. Sage is darker and more green than it looks in the videos. I like it better than black and I normally get everything in black. Camera cubes are ok. Going to skip the packing cubes and get some camera cubes and the tech pouch and 5l sling in sage.
Though this bags looks great I personally use a padded customisable box that holds with one large dslr and 2 lens or 3 lenses up to EF 70-300L IS USM size. Reason being there is no perfect bag. As I either need a small bag for day trip, larger bag for traveling or something between for carryon for a plane. I use normal backpacks / ruc socks depending what may need is.
My problem is the use of zoom zippers. At this price point YKK zippers should be used throughout. I've heard of people having breakdowns with those zippers especially on the everyday bag. I understand they replace the zippers no problem but that doesn't help when it breaks while traveling
I canceled my KS order just because the bag is too heavy. Backpack+M-cube and my laptop Im at 4kg already. Make a less padded Travel Backpack at 1.3kg and you have a killer BP. Tech pouch is dope!
I'm getting the DJI Ronin S and having trouble finding a bag for it and my other equipment. Do you recommend this bag or will the the everyday 30L bag do? Thanks.
Of all of these bags, the tech pouch would be the only bag that I would get. The rest of the bags are of no value to me. I’ve already have the travel bags for when I go to China every year.
Instead of advertising, Peak Designs sends their product to UA-camrs, as a form of free advertising. They save advertising money. You guys deserve to get a piece of their profits.
I've noticed in the last couple of weeks a suspiciously high amount of photo UA-camrs are now carrying Peak Design backpacks, people I have been watching for a long time and never used their stuff before. Even Tony Northrup had one in his Canon video in Hawaii; that was the one UA-camr that threw up the biggest red flag that there's something going on with Peak Design and these guys. I only hope Peak is giving them monetary compensation also although they would have to for the bigger guys for sure.
One of the best reviews if not the best review I've seen for this bag! I'm moving to New Zealand soon and I'll have two checked suitcases as well as this backpack for carry on and I was wondering, if I compress it down to 30L and not have it stuffed fully, will I be able to fit it under the seat in front of me on the plane?
Great review and am considering this backpack. The only dilemma is that it might be too big for me as a day pack? I'm 5'2.... I know your gf(?) is the same height. How does she feel about carrying the backpack? Does it feel gigantic? It looks okay on her, but just wondering.
Hey Jason, I'm undecided between the black and the sage. I was initially going for the black but when I saw your video, I'm considering the sage. My wife likes the sage also. What do you think?
Well, no idea if you bought it already or not but I bought the black and it looks very nice, however, I bought it because my type of photography requires low profile and the sage, if being honest, looks better.
Hi Jason, nice review. like your videos. Just one question. Why do you carry so much stuff, I mean like 2 bodies, so many lenses, and all the other misc peripherals just for a holiday trip? just curious :)
I own the Peak 45L and you did not even talk about the front area where you can store 3 small packing cubes and a pair of pants. Did your model have the front expandable storage section?
just a word of advice... some of the non American/Canadian airlines are a lot more strict with carry-ons, their dimensions are sometimes less AND they make you weigh it (yes, they make you weigh the carry-on bags!), so if you're packing a lot of camera gear PLUS other stuff like your clothes you may go over. The last time I went overseas to Taiwan, I flew Eva Airlines and my bag went over the limit so I had to take something out and put it in my sister's bag to avoid having it checked in
Love this review! I’ve been looking at this pack for awhile now. Not sure if I want to purchase this or hard case carry on luggage with 4 wheels. I do have a question for you. What would the weight of the entire pack with your medium clothing pack and both tech and wash pouch? I’m currently backpacking through SE Asia now and I have a 45L McGregor and I got harassed by a few of the Asian airlines due to the carry on weight is only 7kg/ 15lbs. I had pull out my camera gear (Fuji X-H1, 10-24mm lens, Fuji x100, DJI Mavic Pro, the controller, and all the batteries) which then made my pack very saggy and uncomfortable to wear. I’m hoping to be able to find an all in one solution. Another thing that really attracted me to this pack is that it stays in form even empty. I hate how a normal pack sags when empty or not completely packed full. Hence why I’m considering just getting a cheap carry on hard case luggage while here in Vietnam and then carry my camera gear in my Lowepro 350 tactic. I currently already have the tech and wash pouch and the 5L sling. My hopes are that Ill be able to fit all my clothes (packed for 2 months but only brought 5 shirts, 3 shorts, 1 pair of pants, a rain jacket, pair TOMS, and 6 boxers). Even if I have to wear the 5L sling to carry my Xh1 and the lens would be fine too. Hoping all that clothing will fit in the same clothing cube you have. Any suggestions would be awesome!!
Those Zeiss lens wipes aren't what we think they are huh... Is it because you like shooting RAW? ;) Thanks for the info! Helped me decide whether to pull the trigger on a couple of the components.
I backed it and am not even a photographer. In retrospect, I think it's too big for me and I rarely need a pack that large. In fact, I'll probably change my pledge to an Everyday Backpack, Tech Pouch and Wash Pouch. Got a week left to decide.
Info: large camera cube, medium camera cube, tech pouch, wash pouch, clothes bag and all this greats stuff are soldes separately at the price of 50-60 euros each !
Is the zipper to main compartment which is holding the whole load good? How long you think it will last before it breaks? I really like how the bag looks but really unsure about that zipper holding the whole load. Especially when you have photo gear inside.
Can you please create a quick video with your fresh long term review of this backpack. It can be a continuation of this video, I just wonder how the backpack holds up after a long time.
i have 30l everyday backpack and sometime the shoulder strap feel uncomfortable after few hours carry, i do note the travel bag 45l do have more padding, how do you feel if compare both 30l everyday backpack vs 45l travel bag shoulder strap ?
After your video I canceled my order on KS. The main reason is weight. If I travel to city, with this bag I will always get at least 2kg on my back. the way how this bag works is not the same as how I do. The idea about travel with one bag, only, is not for me. I want to leave my heavy things at hotel and use my sling or everyday backpack.
I had to sell mine. I tried both the 20L and 30L. If you load it with Camera gear (Sony A7 system) the pack gets heavy very quickly and it is not designed for 20lbs+ and more than 1hr of comfort. Walking 4hrs was torture.
Excellent video!! This made me super excited to get mine in the mail and review it on my Chanel! Also, where did you get that sweet business card holder?
I own Peak Design stuff and I like the company but their prices are laughably high for their bags and I can't justify them. I actually finally got to see and try out the Wandrd PRVKE backpack and that's a way better backpack than their Everyday Backpack, but it's still way too expensive for what it is.
Kotodama Midnight I've owned watches that cost as much as a car and owned cellphones where they were actually status symbols and own a crapload of Apple stuff now and I don't find any status with either brand. Apple has an ecosystem that works well, that's why people buy it, plus if you want to sell books, music etc on iTunes you have to own an Apple device. I find the Peak bags to be woefully lacking in functionality and never got past the fact that for almost $300 I am unable to lock it and protect thousands of dollars in gear, just plain idiotic. I have a $60 Case Logic camera backpack I bought while I was researching backpacks and honestly it's pretty great, taken it to several countries , it still looks brand new, super functional and even has a built in rain-fly for no extra charge. I might only get the Wandrd because it's very comfortable and I can carry camera gear and it also has room to carry other stuff because it's portioned and expandable, but it won't be for the price they are asking, it will be off someone that bought it and decided they didn't want it anymore or needs cash. LOL
I put it on at the flagship store. It’s huge and feels pointless to have if you’re not traveling. I love peak design gear, but it just felt huge on my back.
Nice review, loving peak design! Having said that. Would love to see more as your own purchase. It is, a 300 dollars backpack after all. When company send you things, certain value to performance ratio, buyer advices is hard for me to take into account.
Hey Jack, thanks for watching! I have been a fan of PD since the messenger bag and have purchased their subsequent products from then on out. I have made reviews on them as well and PD took noticed and wanted to send me this backpack early to review. All of my opinions and thoughts on this new backpack are honest. Hope that clarifies some things.
Rameses Mendoza Hm. So... you really think it's a "status symbol" to have a 300 (right now 235) bucks backpack to transport the maybe 3000 bucks (or even more) camera gear? I'd say no. You get what you pay for. Where's the point in investing thousands of Dollars for gear and then put it in a 50 bucks bag? Don't get it...
Till Samenstrøm I believe you don't live in France, Because we can produce awesome bags in a chain of shops called "decathlon" for less than 30$, and yes they all offer 10 years warantee, no need to send them back and pay delivery or argue or wait to get a new one. Because all those shops are everywhere in our country. They are strong, durable, handy, and cheap. At the end, we all know that the products are produced in China. Of course it's not the same quality, but it is like paying for a 3500$ Apple computer. I mean, they still get money selling it 2700....Margin is high and don't talk About R&D, because it is a different conversation ;-) Still it is a great product and i'm still asking myself if it worth it (looking for something cheaper around too)
U hardly talked about comfort?! If ur carrying heavy backpag for 6-8hrs it's usually very obvious that certain backpacks are much more comfortable .i.e. Can distribute the load better and make them seem lighter compared to other backpacks.
As a woman in tech the funniest thing about watching all these guys pay $$$ for a tech pouch is they literally just look like makeup bags and I suspect any with a makeup bag with a decent number of pockets will do 😂
They pre-announced their duffles, I'm looking forward to the smaller duffle. I do wish there was a 1.5x size camera cube, between the medium and small. I pack more than the small, and the medium is just too big.
i’m excited for this. everyone complaining about the price should take a tour around one of their bags. go through all the custom hardware and different material choices they make. then consider their lifetime warranty and their excellent customer support. it’s no joke. you pay for the details. you pay for the support.
great video jason...but you should have opened the small cube. what’s in the cube?!
I like PD, but curious what specific details justify a $90 asking price for a packing cube.
I think the issue people have is 300 for a shell, a camera bag that you can't carry your gear in.
jake lane it’s a travel bag. You can get camera cubes to hold your camera if you choose. Not everyone who travels shoots.
I actually just got mine delivered in the mail today and nowhere on the bag does it imply that it’s a camera bag.

Amen to the charcoal color option. I would have snapped it up while it was still active on Kickstarter! Great review!

Room for a gimbal. 👍🏼
I love this backpack! If anyone at Peak Design sees this, send this exact same bundle my way lol.
😂😂😂
My problem is the use of zoom zippers. At this price point YKK zippers should be used throughout. I've heard of people having breakdowns with those zippers especially on the everyday bag. I understand they replace the zippers no problem but that doesn't help when it breaks while traveling
The best bag pack ever!
Gahhh! So glad we're the same height. Was worried about this being WAYYY too big for me. Good to know it fits just nice!
Good stuff. Just a note, water or weatherproof mean something a lot different than water or weather resistant.
Great video dude...would this be able to fit my surface laptop 13 and my macbook 16 simultaneously?
I canceled my KS order just because the bag is too heavy. Backpack+M-cube and my laptop Im at 4kg already. Make a less padded Travel Backpack at 1.3kg and you have a killer BP.

Well done! I need them pouches and cubes to organize my life. Now lets see if I can fit a whole trip into one backpack only. Eeek
Tech Pouch is 🔥🔥🔥

At 9:07, it looks like you were able to fit in the 10L sling with the medium sized cube. Was it able to close?
Over a year old but this video is still helpful. I’m so close to pulling the trigger on this bag.
So ?
Finally someone reviewing the travel bag in Sage!
That thing is huge!!
Interesting but I just got an osprey bag that I will convert into camera bag as well.
Rafał Maliszewski I have an osprey and I am struggling if I should get this
@@timlee1313 me too. How Is your osprey bag for normal city travel?
Can't wait for mine this December!!
Great review and am considering this backpack. The only dilemma is that it might be too big for me as a day pack? I'm 5'2.... I know your gf(?) is the same height. How does she feel about carrying the backpack? Does it feel gigantic? It looks okay on her, but just wondering.

Great clip!! At 4:33, is that the 20L or 30L Everyday, next to the Travel?
Good review of the cubes and camera cube, not the pack itself.. thanks though!
I'm going to skip the cubes and use my 10L sling as the "cube" and stuff other items inside.
Hi Jason. How tall are u in cm? I saw your review seem the PD Travel is a little bit big on your back.
So how does this backpack perform after 4years (as of now)?
Do the cubes come with the bag or do you have to buy these separately?
i’ve been contemplating buying this! thank you for this video dude. we’ve missed your face
KS just ended. 😭😭😭
tech pouch is is a good thing though
Nice review. I am thinking of getting this travel bag. Does it have YKK zippers?

Wow, you gave me the answer, too big for under the seat. Thanks for great review :)
how did you get it already? The kickstarter campaign is still on
I’m a little worried about the 24cm width, because many airlines only allow 20cm. Have you come across any obstacles due to the size?
I backed it and am not even a photographer. In retrospect, I think it's too big for me and I rarely need a pack that large. In fact, I'll probably change my pledge to an Everyday Backpack, Tech Pouch and Wash Pouch. Got a week left to decide.
How are the Zoom zippers holding up?
does it come with the cube or sold separately?
Excited to be one of the first to comment - great job Jason - love your videos!
Thank you!! 😎

Is this bag good for hiking?

Lifetime warranty. Customer service is very good, though breaking somewhere inopportune is possibility. Think not likely, relative to quality of PD.
Can you please create a quick video with your fresh long term review of this backpack. It can be a continuation of this video, I just wonder how the backpack holds up after a long time.
Man your killing me.. told myself I am not going to buy this bag.. I am not!! After watching your video I want it.. lol great video 👍📸
G.A.S. ⛽️⛽️⛽️⛽️
Still being drawn to this bag 2 years+ after release! But the cost is amazingly high but it is very versatile
i have 30l everyday backpack and sometime the shoulder strap feel uncomfortable after few hours carry, i do note the travel bag 45l do have more padding, how do you feel if compare both 30l everyday backpack vs 45l travel bag shoulder strap ?
This was extremely helpful
Can't find any info on the Tech pouch even on the Peak design web site, where to buy or how much

tech pouch is definitely something I want to get!
Excellent video!! This made me super excited to get mine in the mail and review it on my Chanel! Also, where did you get that sweet business card holder?
Have you tried using the Peak 5L Sling with it? like position it to open on the side access? THank you so much! Love your channel!
thanks for the nice review 👍👍✌️
This is a great overview !!
Have you ever tried fitting the camera cube in your PD everyday backpack?
I own Peak Design stuff and I like the company but their prices are laughably high for their bags and I can't justify them. late response but thanks for the review. helped me with the decision of getting it.
You know those tabs on the medium clothes organizer allows you to open the pouch quickly right?
Great job with this review!
I put it on at the flagship store. It’s huge and feels pointless to have if you’re not traveling. I love peak design gear, but it just felt huge on my back.
Hey man, great review, i loved it when you said "freaking" hahaha for the tech pouch
Just bought the bag last night for $200, thank god for the $100 Black Friday sale lol
Should I get this or the everyday 20L
If you're looking for just a camera bag, go 20L
If you're looking for just a camera bag, go 20L
Nice review, loving peak design!
Having said that.
Would love to see more as your own purchase. It is, a 300 dollars backpack after all. When company send you things, certain value to performance ratio, buyer advices is hard for me to take into account.

certainly does, been watching a long time :3 keep up the good work!
Can you fit zhiyun crane 3 lab in this backpack?
What is the metal device you have attached on the backpack harness?
Capture clip to snap your camera into.
Sorry for going off topic but did you ever review that Rhino slider? I’ve been curious about that
I have not yet
You gotta do a review on the rhino POV!
Great review ! Exactly what I am looking for ! Keep up the good work !
Thank you!!
On point Jason, thanks for this!
😎😎
the prices tho... its like peak design has become a status symbol with photographers now
Rameses Mendoza So true.
Yeah but who cares
Gotta pay for quality ;)
Rameses Mendoza Hm. So... you really think it's a "status symbol" to have a 300 (right now 235) bucks backpack to transport the maybe 3000 bucks (or even more) camera gear? I'd say no. got a link to the tech pouch?

Design wise its not my favorite. The front looks like its missing a front lol
that's a huge backpack
Wonder what we where thinking the glasses cleaner was 🤔
They pre-announced their duffles, I'm looking forward to the smaller duffle. I do wish there was a 1.5x size camera cube, between the medium and small. I pack more than the small, and the medium is just too big.
They have a duffle coming ?!
yep Jason Vong
Did you manage to pack a gimbal in there?
Never mind, answered at 08:50, thanks Jason! :)
