Damn right, PUBLIC SERVANTS therefore the public should be able to see them.
On a side note, if couples on UC where one works and they get nothing, then MPs can also go by that rule.
The PM is minted, plus his wife is too. I’m sure he doesn’t need a wage and maybe put that towards I don’t know, doctors and nurses wages? And maybe they take a bloody pay cut, the lot of them. Why is it they get regular pay rises and expenses at OUR expense yet they punish the actual people who work for a living serving the public.
These gobshtes have taken the great out of Great Britain and need shot of now. Embarrassing saying I’m from this country…

The beauty of a UK CBDC is that it won't let the government access or ammend billionaires offshore funds, only ordinary people living and voting in the UK. There is a reason why they are copying China on this.

It's simply legislation paving the way for their planned CBDC. They are quite open about their desire to have full control of "your" money via a Central Bank Digital Currency, but hey if you have done nothing wrong in your entire life (that includes complying with future rules in the past) you have nothing to worry about.

Tell me about it. These Torys are literally turning into a full on fascist party right infront of us, right now. There’s a reason they want the UK to leave the European Court of Human Rights & if people are seriously naive enough to think they just want to take that action to deal with asylum seekers, then boy will they regret thinking its no big deal or even worse, in support of it. They’ve already changed laws to make our right to protest harder & I guarantee they’ll get to workers right to protest through strike action next & then on & on & on our human rights will get eroded one after another. This Tory government of the last 13 years have been by a million country miles the worst government of my lifetime & that’s no small achievement considering that includes ’Thatcher,Thatcher the kids milk snatcher’ government of the ‘80s.

They won't target you or any one person specifically. What they're looking for is big data, large amounts of information which would show them patterns. BTW big data is very valuable. Advertisers pay a lot of money for that information. But in this instance, I think they're looking to find pretexts to cut benefits while at the same time showing people: "See? This is what they were actually doing with the money. They had useless expenses. So why would the tax payer pay for someone's Netflix subscription?"

HMRC estimates there is a shortfall of £30 Billion in avoided and evaded tax. The Tax Justice collective, an independent tax monitoring agency (for want of the correct title) estimates that there is £120 billion missing in tax receipts from the very rich and big business, mostly due to tax haven accounting. Benefit fraud is estimated at £1.2 billion but much of that is clawed back. Even more amusing Benefits unclaimed are circa £16 Billion.

The UK is already setting up a separate UK CBDC. This bill in parliament basically makes it legal to pay benefits in CBDCs so they can do it without legal restriction without requiring further consent from parliament.
The reason for a CBDC is that the government can see and amend your bank account or your permission to spend money on any particular item or service at the touch of a button.

That would completely defeat the purpose of the bill. The purpose of the bill is so that they will be able to legally only pay out government funds via a CBDC. That will mean the government have control over when and how ordinary people (including public servants) can spend "their own" money.
China are already doing it and it is great for them, because they can restrict anyone's access to anything at any time.

@@markysgeeklab8783 I think you have viewed some different video... the video I am commenting on is about the UK govt wanting to access the bank accounts of benefit claimants to check if they have another income or strange expenditures that they can use to challenge the rights of the claimant.

A short step away from looking, is: Can we take money out of there account to pay bailiffs, CCJ's etc etc. It's another way of having the poor account for what this government believes is the poor's OWN fault. This just further hounds them in the hope that they will get off benefits and move into jobs that pay next to nothing to live on, all while being taxed to the hilt.

Limiting misuse to protect the "vulnerable" from harm and secretly imposing limitations on the "unworthy" buying luxury items funded by the "taxpayers". Only people who are deemed economically active will be allowed to buy "luxury items" or "high-quality items" to allow those forced to work on a minimum wage to feel less unfairly treated.

That video looks like another Tory cartoonist's-gift-face. His lower face is completely out of sinc with the top half.

Well if the Tories want to have a poke around into my 94 year old father's bank account because he has been awarded attendance allowance as he resides in a nursing home, needs 24/7 care and nursing and is practically bed bound now then have at it! The only expense he has these days isn't drugs, drink or gambling, its the £5400 a month nursing home fees he has to pay himself because he's worked hard all his life, saved, looked after his money and took out a private pension as advised in his younger years and doesn't qualify for any assistance. He's a lifelong Labour voter and desperate to stay alive long enough so he can vote to get these dispicable Tories out of power. They need to monitor the bank accounts of their own MP's, families and donors for fraud before they attack pensioners.

This will also be for the state pension as it’s seen as a benefit, the idea that it will be means tested so if you have another income ( private pension/workplace pension) then, I suspect a future Tory government will look into paying someone less state pension…is there no level the tories won’t stoop to…?

Unconventional - a violation of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which enshrines respect for private life.
