Hi Keil, sorry to hear about the issue here, and thank you for the feedback! We do list the most common symptoms of the faulty part in question in all of our UA-cam videos. For example, the description here states: "If your fridge is having any of these symptoms, then replacing the Defrost Timer could solve your appliance problem. 1) Freezer would not defrost 2) Fridge is warm and freezer coils are frosting" Is that what you mean? Glad to hear your refrigerator is working again!
Safety first: unplug the frige. There is mains line voltage up in that compartment. It IS insulated fairly well, but there is a SLIGHT possibility you could contact it. If for some reason it's not practical to unplug it/turn off the breaker/unscrew the fuse, if you're careful not to touch anything inside that housing until you've unplugged the connector up top, you'll be fine. And once you've reconnected the top connector, likewise be careful until the housing is in place and you're rescrewing it to the "ceiling" of the refrigerator compartment.
Thank you for your very informative video. My fridge is just like the one you shown in the video. Problem is I lost one of the 1/4 hex screws that holds the console to the fridge ceiling. Do you guys carry them, if so can you link me to it? Or can you at least give me the specs on the screws so I can do a search?
Hello. I just a defrost timer from you folks, but can't find where to install it. I have a much older Frigidaire (Model FPCI 170T-7 and over 40 years old) which doesn't seem to have the timer located like this. It just has a short assembly there containing the bulb and the refrigerator temperature control knob. This assembly only goes part way toward the back of the refrigerator. The rest is a large curved aluminum part that goes sideways across the top rear of the refrigerator compartment. It has some slits so that I can see the coils inside that ice up. Where is the defrost timer located in this?
wow glad i found your site. My trouble i cant find but i have Frigidaire model F44N21C and it seems to run a lot. and when i tap on the top of the inside of fridge the fridge stops for a while. It cools somewhat normal maybe to cold. i saw it could be the theromstat or the defrost timer. if so on any is there a tutorial on that you have?
Nice Video. Can you tell me what causes a compressor to leak electricity back into the house circuits, or to not accept the full voltage it requires thus the excess goes back into the electric system to find an earth. This has happened whereby the electricity found an earth in a copper pipe which caused electric shocks in the shower. But when the compressor was unplugged it stopped. Thought it was the fridge due to cooling problems. Fridge/freezer was not getting cold. Thanks for any advice.
Replaced this part and still having the same problem. The freezer cools and works fine but the refrigerator still doesn’t cool. Any idea what other parts I can replace?
Maybe more of an issue with air flow. Since the freezer side appears to be cooling properly then check out the evaporator fan motors operation. That fan circulates cold air from the freezer into the fridge section and back to the freezer side for re-cooling. Also look at where the air is moved into and out of the cabinet sections. There is an air dampener that adjusts to let more or less thru. If it is not working of it is blocked then that will definitely effect temperature as well as where the return air flows back into the freezer, if it is blocked then again air flow issues. Check those things out. Good luck.
I have a side by side White Westinghouse refrigerator that the freezer coils are freezing solid. My question is this I purchased a new defrost timer should I also get the defrost thermostat? Also this video shows a smaller refrigerator and not the model I have (WRS22WRBW). Is the defrost timer in the same place on my model? Thanks
The defrost thermostat may cause the same symptom that you describe and is not an uncommon part to fail. The defrost timer on your model is located behind the front kickplate.
***** First you want to unplug the fridge and locate the drain tube. Then inset a thin stiff wire into it. Use this wire to take our the debris that might be inside the tube. Once you have done that, the best advice I have seen is to take a mixture of warm water and baking soda, or bleach, and fill a baster with the mixture. Squeeze the liquid into the tube with decent force a few times to make sure the drain is clear.
***** Great info. I was actually able to do it on my frigidaire by removing the housing that holds the defrost timer just link in the above video. the tube at the back of the housing was totally blocked with stuff. it was super easy to remove.
This was very helpful even though the video is years old. Thank you!

Is this the likely problem if you hear an intermittent rattling sound coming from the back middle of your refrigerator?

I have a digital board instead of a timer switch. From where shall I get it or if I can modify to replace with an analogue switch

How much is this new part? And why does it go? (Stop working?)

Thank-you verymuch, I have the exact same fridge.
does it matter if the fridge is plugged in when i take that part out?
What's the best way to clean out the drain tube if water is collecting in the refrigerator?

Why hide the Company Name/Model Name with tape ?
