- We are back at Richmonds, and I get the opportunity to drive a 1983 BMW 635 CSI. and what do you do with a 83 coupe ? you take it to one of my favourite wineries, Penfolds Magill estate to pick up a box of red, because everyone knows I love my red. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Oh mate, loving the 635 driving experience. Just bought a 1989 635 Highline in Macao blue with the Lotus white full leather. Loved that car since my mate's dad bought a brand new one in 1988! Good luck keeping under the speed-limit in Oz! Got a $180 speeder in Victoria in a Ford Falcon hire-car in 1998, haven't paid it yet! God bless the Aussies and Kiwis! As a Mercedes 500 SEC owner I can say that I love this coupe as well.

Great video of a true modern classic. Stock sound system at the time would probably have been cassette player by Blaupunkt.

It is rare to see one with the original metric alloys and beautiful TRX tires. Michelin still produces them in limited series for healthy enthusiasts, but I was wondering if these are of the same age as the car, in which case they must be as hard as wood.

Agreed. They had the M1 at the dealership by my house in Chareston, SC in mid 80’s. They also had the first M5 I ever saw, and it was beautiful, and had 315 HP out of that straight 6. But then there was the 635 CSi. Beautiful, and much prettier in person. It made the M1 look dumb, and especially now, the 635 makes the M1 look really dated. And I can’t stand most BMWs, at the time if it wasn’t an American V8 I didn’t care too much, but fast is fast. I was told that at the time this was the fastest production car as far as top end. Can anyone back that up? Speed?
And how does it drive besides nice, good and cool?
