Good job Marsh Man! I absolutely love any kind of fish cooked with a pecan crust! Tell Mrs Marsh Man hi from this long lost cajun way over here in Houston.
Next time you’re out on a good sacalait bite, you need to try fishing them with a tube or hair jig 1.5-2’ under a small cork. The bait stays in the strike zone much longer and it allows you to fish closer to the structure/cover they love to hang onto. This technique is extremely effective when they are up on the cypress during the spawn, it’s almost like small scale trout fishing with a popping cork. Tight lines Todd
Great video.... and an excellent recipe...i made it according to your instructions, but I also added a little Tajin to the flour and pecan mix.....DINO - MYTE !!!! Keep the vids coming 🙂
Looks like an awesome recipe.Wifey is quite the cook and she and I experimented with a few different coatings for sac a lait and not sure if ya ever tried this coating,Red Lobster bisquit mix,try it ya GONNA love it!!Makes dem tasty filets even more tasty and crispy!!
This is my first time watching one of your videos and I'm glad it was with crappie or whatever you call them but man you really went all fancy like five star on it that's so cool and it looked really good I think I could smell it through the screen when I was watching it lol but it looked delicious and that cabbage with it I love cabbage so man it looked really good and that sauce that you made I would never have thought about doing that and creating that and it looked and sounded so delicious thank you for this video I have liked and subscribed and I have shared this with everybody I know who likes to go fishing and eat fish I can't wait to see more from you thank you very much.
Great technique. I will surely try this, but with specks or flounder, since I never fish freshwater. I cook with tallow a lot, but clarified butter also has a high smoke point and it's easy to make it yourself. Or you can buy some in most grocery stores. Been a subscriber from day one after reading all your articles in the NOLA Times-Picayune.
i fish and cook fish every week for myself and wife as well, it looks like you have got it down!, we like nut crust as well, i make it pretty similar to what you did, love to cook with beer as well, the good life!
Enjoyed the video. Would recommend trying a 10 to 12 foot jig rod to vertical flip and jig in those lily pads and heavy brush. There are fish in there.
Ive lived in ohio, west central section, 46yrs and first 25yrs you only occasionally seen those Canadian geese, but the last 20 they slow yr after yr are everywhere
Man you have my mouth watering! I’m definitely gonna try that dish! (If I can catch some sac au lait!). Perch may have to do! lol Thanks for the recipe!
Tiny jigs and lures drug across the bottom or just off the bottom is how I fish 95% of the time. I love catching whatever bites, and that technique is super successful for me. Great recipe, too. I can almost taste how well those pecans played with the vanilla porter in the batter/breading.
Great video, Marsh Man! Good fishing action, and made me HUNGRY with the cooking segment! Glad to see your better half helping you eat that culinary delight! God bless ALL of us! WWG1WGA
Here's a technique i use to help reduce thoughs snags, after i find the approximate depth they are biting at i use a slip bobber and fish the same way with a pause here/there, somes i use 2-3" bait and there is times i down size below 2"
It looks like you are throwing a lot of 3 inch baits instead of 2 inch baits. It seems to be doing well there in Louisiana. I'm from Commie California and we don't have the Back Waters Swamps like you have. Looks like perfect Crappie Water. I hope no Gators take your Catch. That would be Scary. 🐊
I agree that those are one of the best eating fish around and loads of fun to catch. That is a beautiful area your fishing, the scenery is amazing.
I like the way you carefully measure your ingredients. He He !
Yeah, I can't tell you the last time I pulled out a measuring cup or spoon 🤣
Mrs marsh man with the play of the game running to stir the pot haha
Yes, she saved the day

This is great! I am taking notes and going to try this recipe on my wife that doesnt care for fish.
Bucket list fish for me. Been around the area fishing for awhile now no luck yet!! Hopefully soon!!!

I’ve always kinda though of sacalait as a the specks of freshwater twitching a 2 1/4in monkey milk soft plastic under a cork is unmatched

Oh yeah! Looked so good!!
I use a similar set up around hard cover. I use a Keitech tungsten jig head with a 3" yum pearl minnow. Gets big crappie and aggressive rock bass

Kudos for the unique recipe MM. I fish for the pan also, and have not seen that one. Reel(sic) good video.

This works great for specks. I haven't attempted this with ghee, but I'm sure it would work well.
Love your show buddy, I'm gonna have to try that recipe. BTW we call them "white perch" in Alabama
that there my brother is straight fire 💪💯
love the lake, I'd spend the night 🎣😳🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was incredible. Very nice work, all involved. Can't wait to see the 6.5cm, if you go that route.
Sacalait baby!! My fav fish to hunt and eat.
This is definitely old school fishing .
Now days everyone is using live scope or mega live etc.
Good video.
It’s been tough to find and catch them around the Des Allemands. Hopefully it picks up soon
4:30 every day? That’s impressive

Slip cork with Jig up against the cypress trees🎣🎣🎣🎣👍👍

Them dark males mean the spawn
Tod, how can i find cypress line rivers on Google map. I've wanting to catch crappie all the time since i love cooking and eating fish.
Is that the teche you are fishing. Anyone know this area?
0:51
Oh oh I know right where you are that’s where I launch
When the crappie are spawning the males will be black and get darker and darker as the spawn is on
Where can I find hunter slab minnows?
I've looked at Wal-Mart and Academy
I ordered them online
Pecan pureè
DELICIOUS 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
U need some crappie psychic trailers and ammo to go with your baits or his crappie weapon
