That is really helpful! I'm 38, live in Green Bay, and got my mentored trapper license this year. My grandpa was big into trapping but died before I could learn enough to go out on my own. Setting a trapping line with my neighbor at the property he passed down in two weeks about an hour west of Green Bay and looking forward to it.
I just love your stuff ! Im winter trapping right now but can’t wait for late April for spring beaver.. question for you guys. In a normal year in the spring do you guys allways hit the same spots ? Thanks again for the great content.would love to buy you and ken a beer one day Cheers
We have some areas that we trap every year but a lot every other year some every 3-4 years. We have hundreds of miles to cover and never cover half of it in any one year.
Great video! Really appreciate the time you take and break down the “why” behind it. I have been out of the loop for a bit due to the Army and moving back home to Vilas county. Looking forward to starting my trap line next year!
Great video guys! Years ago I tried cable/weights but found odd time cable would kink and beaver be floating looking at you in am rather than be drowned out. Switched to 1/2" rebar and all good now but can only haul so much 8-10' rebar. Do you find the 1/8" cable is very effective in drowning and are the railroad plates need to be cut to size as I have a buddy who works for CN. I like how compact the plates/wire is as I also trap roadside. Cheers from Manitoba.
1/8" yes ...much better...more weight and deeper water. We set for a front foot catch and we might have 1-2 alive for every 50-60 beaver caught. Usually it is because of a hard bottom or too shallow of water...our bad.

Catch me a big one this year Ken. I love the one I got from you at Paul Bunyon.
We will do that and name it JAMES!
What brand trap setters do you use?
No brand on them, I got them from F&T long time ago.
@@outofthewoodyard Thanks
They are all bastards!!!!!!😮😮😮😮😮.
I would love to see a closeup of your “ double clip” arrangement
I will do that some day!

Здравствуйте, как вы делаете приманку на бобра?
The bait is just a couple small sticks of poplar/aspen...the lure is a 1/1 blended mix of beaver castor and mineral oil
