What I don’t like is your basically forced to run 2-1-2 to be competitive but most of the people q’ing open are just looking to play dps with a faster q times. Kinda makes the lobby feel toxic when you can’t get one of the dps to switch
and it doesn’t even feel good since tanks in open queu feel weak to begin with so i disagree not really necessary for open queu the match making is way too wide for that to be forced
@ I don’t think tanks feel weak in open Q. They feel weak compared to role Q but they’re abilities are so strong in team fights compared to the cast on dps it just never makes sense to take a dps when you can replace it with a tank. Normal open Q I’d run 3-0-2 or 4-0-1

Tank weak? Youre joking. In the standard format you have little to not impact whatsoever on a match as Dps because now they just shifted the single slot role to the Dps role which was already inherently low value and in doing so made them virtually useless. In this format if you get stuck on Dps you are essentially playing spectator mode while 2 godzillas duke it out against the other 2 godzillas with 2 healers glued to their butts while you try not try not to feed.
They couldve given us a 6v6 lobby to not have this problem but they didn't :/
i thought that, for the first test, which of course wasn't going to do much, it was probably the most fun i've had in a while and instantly became my favorite mode to play
Cynically, Blizz might be half-assing these tests so they can ultimately shrug and tell players they listened to their concerns, tried new things, and nothing worked.
I said this weeks ago and was called a conspiracy theorist on other channels *shrugs*

my thoughts exactly about this. i figured they are gonna push these tests completely half assed then claim well the people didnt want it so lets just keep things the way they are
they WANT to make a good game though so the most people play it. theyre already putting dev time into this test theres no justifying that if its not leading to more players/ revenue.
you have to remember that this is a COMPANY not a person or group. they prioritise profit over all else and having the best game they can will have more players thus more profit.
activision blizz feels like an abusive partner but thats because their decisions dont have player enjoyment as the end goal, its just a step along the path to profit.
theyre not gonna make decisions out of spite or any other emotion because a company does not have feelings
As a tank main, double ranking feels incredible. The lower health pool also makes you play smarter.

I think you can make some 2 tank 2 dps comps work that can out damage and mitigate 2 tanks and 2 supports
My second match in the mode, someone went Zarya, and 2018 called me to Rein. We stomped, in clash, 3 mintutes to drive it down to their spawn.
A large part of this was my zarya was a good zarya, kiriko gave me a 3rd potential bubble, i can cancel charge, and have an extra fire strike.
Another part was it being 5v5, an extra person would dilute the strength of two coordinated tanks.
Further, many players arent from 6v6, let alone tank mains from 6v6. I am seeing massive results in this. Playing main, off and solo tank. Ball feels kinda fun again as solo tank.
As a openQ only player that was a huge improvement. Toxicity and throw games have drastically plummet while keeping the openQ spirit mostly intact.
@ You and many other youtubers are reviewing this mode wrong. You are comparing openQ to roleQ instead of openQ no limits to openQ limit 2.
"Tanks have less HP, are more punishable, require more skill, tanks synergy, bla bla bla..." That is just what openQ was always about... Its nothing new.
I agree. Strictly comparing this mode with the no limits open que, I would say that limit 2 definitely feels better. I'm hoping that limit 2 eventually replaces open que.
I really enjoyed the mode. Tank power level definitely would have to be adjusted more, looking at cooldowns especially, but I really enjoyed the freedom of being able to swap roles mid-game if necessary (or if I just want to play someone else for fun). Interested to see how Kingmaker works.
Still would like 6v6 more than this but man this actually felt really good. Mauga hog comp is super fun to run. I think when 6v6 comes out and tanks are properly nerfed it will feel better .

I think they are aware of the tanks are too strong problem, but instead of balancing they want to see how well next "kingmaker" test will address that (having the lonely role be buffed makes on paper the discrepancy between roles less of a problem for team comps), which would be fine if they did the proper test with good blance afterwards (especially since normal open queue and 6v6 tests would also benefit from that), but the way it is now just sucks. Tbh, I don't really think king maker is gonna be a good solution - it will also have to be be balanced to not make bonus on some role busted/nonexistent and it will affect different characters differently making it kind of fiddly and hard to balance. Still, gotta wait for the playtest to say this for sure
Ya i played Winston and DVA vs a Mauga and the Mauga was hilariously bad. Could not do anything. Just died. Also Zarya feels very powerful. I think she may be overtuned with the double projected bubble.
I think they should keep role passives, but tweak them
Damage: Change it to 15% against all roles.
Tank: Remove the Headshot reduction and reduce the other parts of the passive by half.
Support: Increase the time time it takes by 0.5 sec.
Remove dmg passive and just reduce healing by 15%

Zarya needs to be reverted to 1 self and 1 friendly bubble not 2 of either. And back to 40 Energy if depleted not 45. Because its really fucking aids as it is right now and thats because it was balanced with her being the only tank
got stuck playing solo tank with reduced hp and couldn’t swap and neither would any of my teammates 👍👍
I really wish they made it a separate game mode instead of replacing quick play. I play quick play so I can swap between roles whenever I want and also so that my team can have a weird structure like full support or all DPS (not saying it's healthy just saying it's fun). Now however, I'm forced into playing what is nearly identical to role queue which just makes everyone so much more sweaty for some reason so I can't just mess about anymore. Other people will have different perspectives on this and opinions but personally I'm just glad it's only 3 days so I can just abandon the game for that time then come back later when it becomes fun for me again.
It only replaces open queue
@hogndog2339 Yeah that's what I was trying to say. It feels like now I have a choice between 3 role queues instead of 2 role queues and 1 open queue (quick play).
max 2 should’ve been swapped with the 6v6 test.
It’s absolute sht and I can’t believe this is what people wanna go back to. Basically tanks are even more of the main character and nobody else matters especially the dps. If you’re a tank main you’ll like to play this mode. If you’re anything else stick to regular quick play and ranked modes.
This was still more fun than the live patch but I agree, it has a butt load of problems
I like it more than trad open q and with some balance I might like it more than role q 5v5

Dva's matrix is at 3 sec which is what it was at the end of OW1. But have you seen the combo of zen with torb in that mode? It melts every tank. If anything, all damage in the game needs to take a hit
They killed 6v6 by putting it into open que this community can’t not play characters after they’ve been nerfed into oblivion so wtf do you assume OPEN QUE would help really? Jesus what’s wrong with these devs
Forget max 2 just do 2 tanks, 2 supports, and 1 dps role lock.....2 tanks, 2 supports > 2 dps, 2 supports
unfortunately most players q for dps so the queue times for them will be like 30 mins+. the only reason why we have open queue and 5v5 role lock is just to cut down on dps q times.

I think I’d prefer this format to take over open queue. You won’t get any lobsided matches where a team has too many or not enough of a role.

I think its funny basically the single benefit i hear of this game mode is purely tank synergies. I guess its cool if blizzard wants to waste more time before 6v6, we're used to it.
Yeah people love that they can hold a shield all game and not let anyone else play. So fun. I can’t wait for double shields and choke holding to be the meta Strat ❤
@@SocialExperiment232 It's a good thing they added Mauga, who rips through shields, Rammatra who entirely ignores shields, made Bastion very mobile so he can eat shields, buffed Symmetra against shields, and also lowered overall shield health across the board huh? It's almost like your issue is already presented with counterplay.
@ mauga isn’t a counter to anyone and you just mentioned two of the worst dps in the game in a mode that encourages only one dps lmao even if he dedicates the entire game to breaking shields he still wouldn’t want to. The highest picked tanks in the mode are already rein and Zarya because the shields are already a problem and having two tanks is too much no matter how much you nerf their health. But don’t worry I’ll give you all time to realize just how terrible it is and y’all will be complaining about it soon enough.
@@SocialExperiment232 I stopped playing overwatch because they deleted my role from the game. Spent a lot of time playing off-tank, and now I play different games since, yknow, the thing I enjoy doing is gone. Of course I'll complain about the new mode, at least I'll actually be playing the game :)
