I think watching the prepping is more entertaining than watching the baling. .. but that's just me. I like knowing how things work. I hope ya'll have a blessed day!
That daily maintenance is what keeps things running smoothly. Today's equipment has a lot fewer grease fittings than in the past, so that makes it quicker and easier. Thanks for the video and take care!
Superb maintenance ritual. Lubrication is the life blood of moving parts .. speaking of lube, I bit the bullet last year & bought a battery powered grease gun like you're using - love it - should've bought 1 years ago!
That was my kid job one summer, cleaning and greasing equipment. We didn't have leaf blowers; only compressed air, and brooms. It was a lesson in maintaining equipment and has lasted me a lifetime.
That was one job that always had to be done back in my combining days. Only we didn't have all the nice tools like now days. I think there were eighty two grease fittings and you had to sweep off the motor and screens the best you could. Hope everything went good for you after the video. Thanks for sharing.
that is a great prep to your machine and by doing that you will have hopefully not many problems. If I had your equipment I would do the the same thing great video thanks for what you do and show us your operation
Been converting power hand tools for shop, lawn, and tractor to cordless. I picked Milwaukee. A few grease, blower, impact, drill, screw. One charger two batteries, just buy the tool.
Great video. I bought a DeWalt battery power blower, works great. I agree on the slow moving chains but on my round baler I use white silicone lithium spray grease at the end of the baling, with no build up. I'll go 10k plus before having to change any
I agree not lubing the chains. Wet they hold dirt. Like you say for putting up for winter. I would like buying your trade in equipment, you take excellent care.
Great video of your prep work. Still waiting on that rain. Beeing going around me and everywhere else but my land Lol. Been having to drive through it, but get to ky house or my property, bone dry.
@@NorthTexasHay Hope so, this "curse" is annoying. Half acre 10ft deep pond needs filling. Will find out over the next few days if i get a break and a down-pour.
great videos .I was surprised you have a double jaw tongue hitch on both ,I mean top and bottom jaw on the tractor and swather hitches coupled together ,I thought two on the tractor and one on the implement or vice a versa to allow the hitch to pivot up and down over undulations but your land is so flat that may not matter . Like the grease gun can you tell that grease has gone into a stiff zerc ,I cant with my pneumatic one so gone back to manual
Great tip with the breaker bar to stop the flywheel. Been struggling with that on my 1839. I took my pto guards off the baler so i can grease the 8 fittings quicker and easier. Do you have any thoughts on that? Great video once again!
Seams to me that most of that work should have been done before you put it away after last use, that way you are less likely to find a problem when you need to use it next time.
That set up you designed for baling your hay is unbelievable. Leaf blowers are one of the best inventions ever, Does yours need an adjustment of the low speed needle and have you ever tried a dry graphite spray on your chain ? Thanks and always a great video.
Rollling, I agree. Maybe if he just oiled it and then wiped it off real good as too not attract the dust as much but still have the inner parts lubed. Or not do it all and replace when it goes bad ? Either way is fine.
RIP Scott!

Thanks, guess I should do more

Thanks for watching
glad to see someone else getting started early in the mornings . , good looking set up, dang purty tractor !
Yes she is, thanks
👍🏻 another quality job by Mr Scott
Thanks

One tool that truly makes the day easier
That was my kid job one summer, cleaning and greasing equipment. We didn't have leaf blowers; only compressed air, and brooms. It was a lesson in maintaining equipment and has lasted me a lifetime.
It's taught me a few things as well
Great Maintenance Program you have! Sure wish my NH 570 had a Fan set up on it like you're Massey.
Great Video Scott! 👍
The fan really works well
Great equipment maintenance, enjoyed the video. Thx for taking the time to show us what you do...
Thanks for taking the time to watch

I don't think I would ever remember where 82 fittings are to get them all greased
Another stellar video.
Thanks for taking the time to show us your maintenance program.
Thanks

So, that grease gun was interesting. Chain info was good to hear. Using the leaf blower...great idea.
One of the best tools you can have is that greaser
Been converting power hand tools for shop, lawn, and tractor to cordless. I picked Milwaukee. A few grease, blower, impact, drill, screw. One charger two batteries, just buy the tool.
Milwaukee has a good reputation
Great video. I bought a DeWalt battery power blower, works great. I agree on the slow moving chains but on my round baler I use white silicone lithium spray grease at the end of the baling, with no build up. I'll go 10k plus before having to change any
I might try that
Awesome sunrise...🌞
It was a good day
Excellent video
Thanks
The glamorous part! :) All good!!
10-4
That was a pretty slick way to attach that.
Thanks
Love this kinda vid!
I thought it would bore everyone to tears
Good seeing your prep routine
Thanks
Good video. Thanks for sharing.,
Thanks

That's been my experience also, thanks for watching
Scott you are right never lube a chain most good chains are sealed and don't need lube.
10-4
Great video of your prep work. Still waiting on that rain. Beeing going around me and everywhere else but my land Lol. Been having to drive through it, but get to ky house or my property, bone dry.
I've had times like that also, you should get some this weekend if you're in Texas

Peaceful time of day. just like dusk.
I love it
Who did you use to put your sprigs in, I’m in Grapeland, Tx
We have used like a graphite spray on the baler roller chains. It seems to lubricate them well and nothing really sticks to them.
Thanks
Great idea with the leaf blower! That black fan on the top of the baler, did you add it, what is it cooling?
It comes on the baler and it keeps hay chaff off of the knotters
👍 to start
Thanks

Yes you can tell
I see I’m not the only leaf-blower Addict
Handy tool
Me too
Nice vid!
Thanks
I would use Fluid Film on the chain. It is Lanolin based and does not attract dirt like WD40 does
I'll check into that, thanks
Great tip with the breaker bar to stop the flywheel. Been struggling with that on my 1839. I took my pto guards off the baler so i can grease the 8 fittings quicker and easier. Do you have any thoughts on that? Great video once again!
I tend to want the guards on but if you never get around it running it will never be an issue
If to lube chains, I use slip plate, it's a dry graphite. They have a few items to choose from. 321/46
I do have some of that but have never felt like the chains ever needed anything
Nice Vid.. Change that Headlight.. hahaha
I need to do that, looking at this video and your comment got me to put it on the to do list
One question from an old retired farmer (last time I baled was in the 1950's). What in the world is the purpose of that large tank on the baler?
OK, answered my own question: Preservative, right?
Hay preservative when we can't quite get it dried down
Good video. Do you spray all of your bales?
We do not, humidity plays a big roll in that
Do you use the hay preservative all the time and how does it work plus is there any detrimental affect to the hay.
No effect on the hay and I only use it for the fall cut normally, but if the moisture is above 11% I spray
a question? Which packer is better, the massey 1840 or the new hollan that is lateral
Massey, no question about it
Looks like you were out there pretty early, what time do you generally start baleing?
Anywhere between 11 and 2 depends on how close it was the day before to being dry
North Texas Hay makes sense, thank you for the response!
Blowing the dust off must last what, 2 minutes?
Maybe
Why are there no new videos
Can anyone tell me what the tanks is for on the front of the bailer
Hay preservative
Ohhhhhh okay cool thanks for the response
I think you have a headlight out better check the fluid it might have leaked out since the last fluid change on it
Har har
Seams to me that most of that work should have been done before you put it away after last use, that way you are less likely to find a problem when you need to use it next time.
After 15 hours manual labor there is no way I'm doing this at the end of the day.
Nothing like a little baler dust to get your day started
The only good part is you aren't sweating so it doesn't stick
LOL
Nothing is dirtier than a Peanut Combine..chains last for years with no lube
I can imagine the build up is crazy on a combine
That set up you designed for baling your hay is unbelievable. Leaf blowers are one of the best inventions ever, Does yours need an adjustment of the low speed needle and have you ever tried a dry graphite spray on your chain ? Thanks and always a great video.
Important for a chain is the grease inside, between the pins and the rolls.
A new chain is well greased inside and that can last for years.
Rollling, I agree. Maybe if he just oiled it and then wiped it off real good as too not attract the dust as much but still have the inner parts lubed. Or not do it all and replace when it goes bad ? Either way is fine.
High speed chain I would grease but these chains dry would last 20 years
