Hi! I would like to congratulate you for the excellent video. I am researching 2 watch models just for running. If money was no object, would you go for the Garmin 255 or the Garmin phoenix 7? Best regards alexander
Hm.. same annoying reflections on Fenix 7 screen as on the Fenix 6! I expected a better antireflective coating. Look at Wiggleˋs glasses, no reflection visible during the whole video. No rocketscience. Would have been nice if Garmin would optimise the visibility of their screens by decent a/r coating! Perhaps their watches are still to cheap for that feature :-)
It's pretty much identical in regards to reflection. As you say the anti reflective coating would be good...but a coating would scratch off pretty quickly and leave it looking worse. If you want a screen thats easy to see look at the new Garmin EPIX... it's pretty incredible...and even more expensive 😅
You mentioned a lot of fancy things but is it waterproof ( not water resistant ) and does it have an LTE option?. all I want is a watch that can sink with Strava/ send and receive calls/ and is waterproof any ideas what watch covers these requirements ( don't say Apple! ) 🤒
It sure is, ATM10 rated which is fully water proof to 100m depth. It has no LTE option, just bluetooth and WiFi that allows it to connect to your phone/home system and update/sync activities to strava. Sport watches tend to be great with batterty life and recording accurate sports data... but generally dont do messaging/calling well. You can answer the phone and see messages on this new fenix...but you have to use your phone to typre the reply and use the mic and speaker. Hate to say it but the apple and android smartwatches are best for that... hope that helps a little 👍
Ahh interesting you say that, I’ve been using garmin for years and never had a problem with the chargers. I’d love to see a generic usb C but they arnt ready for the water and abuse of a sports watch yet. Thanks for the feedback always good to know 👍

@@wiggle I order Garmin Fenix 7 solar because of long battery . I like Epix but want something with long battery!
@@P.I.D.27 good choice…that’s exactly what I’d do 👌
@@wiggle Some ppl say AW7 have more accurate HR and Garmin data is bad and worthless .
Can it connect with bicycle power meter??
It sure can!
Is this the black or carbon gray version? Seems gray, silverish and I like it!
It's the carbon grey... so nearly black... but not quite! great colour tho
@@wiggle thanks for the quick reply! I've ordered the carbon grey also. ✌🏼
What color is your Fenix 7? It's hard to tell if it's black or carbon gray.
It's the Carbon Grey model... basically is all black...not very grey at all 😆
Rest in peace Wiggle. Miss you xxx
hi .. good review .. but I expected something more from Garmin:) We have been waiting for this watch for so long ..
Thanks Peter. It's been a long time coming thats for sure! I mean it's similar to the 6...but with some decent upgrades!
is titanium black or titanium grey version?
It's the Ti Carbon version...but it's basically just black. Hope that helps
Here we have apple watches that boasts ALL DAY BATTERY life. These new features tells me that I need to upgrade from my fenix 3.
the battery, heart rate and gps accuracy really set this apart for an apple watch...both amazing...just at different things
Military personnel use red lights to read maps at night. That might be what the red light is on the watch
I have found not all banks except garmin pay so do remember before buying that your card might not work
But really nice watch still worth buying
This is what's listed
Cornèrcard
FinecoBank
Genome
Revolut
Santander

any review on connectivity?
Got pretty amazing connectivity to sensors (ant & BT) like heart rate, cadence and speed. Also to your phone for notifications etc. anything else you’d want it to connect to?
@@wiggle Yes I'm interested in how deep connection with a smartphone goes. If you look at the possibilities the samsung watch 4 has , for instance responding to messages on whatsapp and such. Extra apps that can be installed on the watch or getting different faceplates?
Dont forget that garmin refuses to do any repairs so they will offer you 40% on the same model (which is 20% compared to price in other stores). In that moment, it could be 5 year old model. My garmin stopped working few months after guarantee expired and they offered me that 20% discount on 3 year old model and told me thats the only thing they can do. Too bad
So do you consider g shock better
Very nice but.... If I would change my fenix 6, it would be for a Vertix 2 from Coros, whic seems to be the most efficient one! I'm a little bit disappointed.
Unless you get the top end sapphire solar there isn’t massive changes. And it must be said the COROS watches are pretty brilliant these days!
what size is the watch? 43-47-51 ???
The watch in the video is the 47mm screen (just the Fenix 7, not the 7s or the 7X). Hope that helps
Thank you for the video. Did you find that there was any difference in the GPS coverage when comparing the 7 with the 7 Sapphire model? The Sapphire model has the multi frequency tracking which the "regular" 7 lacks.
Hi Hugo, the watches in the new Fenix 7 range have Sapphire included and all have the new Multi band GNSS tracking... so they should all be as good as each other 👍
@Wiggle I think @Huge Andersson was wondering if you had a chance to test the GPS performance between the Fenix 7 and Fenix 7 Sapphire with Multi-Band?
@@wiggle So I just spoke with Garmin that said that the multi-band feature of the sapphire models have an increased accuracy (down from 15-10m accuracy to 10-5m). Thought I'd share it with you.
@@Hugo-sc3fq ah re-reading it seems I missed the point slightly! Thanks for clearing this up as it’s a very valid point. Cheers for the info, wish I’d got this in the video now
@Hugo great info thanks
How much is the 7x thanks Dan
£859.99 👍
Awesome review! This will be the new watch I'll buy to replace my ageing Suunto Ambit (titanium/sapphire). This vid also doubles as an ideal (far more interesting 😉) user and reference guide...Bonus!
Sick moustache. But bruh you give the doctor from DBD vibes
😆 haha I've not had that one before... but I see what you mean 🤣
Not a patch on the Apple Watch I’m afraid.
It’s for a different market. The Apple Watch is amazing but if your need ultimate battery life with outdoor sports data/features and gps tracking it’s hard to beat a fenix.
Battery 🔋
The red mode would be for if you're in the cinema or something and don't want to disturb other people
Thanks Robert...i've used it a few times in similar situations now...proper useful feature! Thanks
ordered.
Nice! Your gonna love it!
@@wiggle no doubt about it :) My 5x will go now to deserved retirement!!
Mine reacts in the shower. It just scrolls which is fine but it does react.
Thanks for the feedback Tim 👍 mine scrolls on the odd occasion too...but like you say no activities started yet 😆
Hate to say it but the apple and android smartwatches are best for that... hope that helps a little 👍
Don't use the red light if you are map reading at night as anything red won't come up on the map ie contours.
I don’t wear a watch but I like THE WATCH 🤭♏️
I never wore watches until I tried a Fenix...give it a go... you might like it 😜
Very nice review. However the Fenix 6 was released in August, 2019.
Thanks Randy 👍 Ahhhh that might have been the UK release… thanks for the comment
how much is it ?
Lots of different prices across the range…but anything from £599.99- £1,000
@@wiggle retail price ?
Best review.no bulshit
Thanks Augustine 💪
Only -20?
would you need more than that? should never be below that under your jacket 😅
@@wiggle true, but I have to face Canadian winters, so -20 and below are not rare.
Nevertheless, thank you for the detailed video
The normal fenix 7 doesnt have solar . Only the fenix 7 solar and sapphire solar
Hi HJ, Yeah my wording wasn't very accurate... meant to say all the watches have optional sapphire solar options. Cheers for clearing it up 👍
Red light doesn't mess with your night vision. Perfect for hunting and fishing

It’s not nice to see the old charger. The pins back watch go bad and a brill device gets worn out just charging over time. Great ( not ) design Garmin
Ahh interesting you say that, I’ve been using garmin for years and never had a problem with the chargers. I’d love to see a generic usb C but they arnt ready for the water and abuse of a sports watch yet. Thanks for the feedback always good to know 👍
The red is for camping so you do not wake folks near you in the tent,
Thanks Tim, I've had a go with it now and can see it works dreams
red lights are used to read a map at night without killing your night vision
Thanks Eric! I’ve since used it and it’s actually a pretty useful feature 👍
Red is easier on the eyes at night.
Thanks! I actually tested this out last night... The light is pretty useful and when in real darkness actually works pretty well!
Red light doesn't destroy your night vision..
Thanks Fred, I've given this a go now...works a treat
