It's kinda funny how many people already have a Kinect and could be doing full body VR right now instead of buying $400 worth of trackers

@@Finnovation_Create projects like this make me so sad that the Kinect never took off. You get more tracking in a $100 Kinect 1.0 than $150 for a single Vive Tracker lol. Maybe having hundreds of dollars of vive trackers is better idk but it seems like the tech is RIGHT THERE through the Kinect series but no one is doing anything with it. If someone could find a way to do a multi Kinect setup wouldnt it be possible to have full 3D mass tracking? idk

Yeah but that tracking though? My kinect gives me tons of issues that if I had the cash to blow and buy trackers, no hesitation.
And this is why I have half a shed full of plastic bins for a tech and cable graveyard. The number of times I’ve had either the exact right thing or something I could Frankenstein makes it worth taking up the space! A bit late to the party but is something I need to do for my new to me headset. Thanks so much!
Found my 360 while I was cleaning the house and it reminded me of my rift s headset. Decided to order an adapter and now waiting for it to arrive. This video was really helpful,, thanks ! !

forever thankful that i was enticed by the Xbox 360 Kinect when I was a child, because now I need to go find it, and try this with my Rift S. Always wanted to improve my VR experience, especially in B&S. I probably would go for the vive trackers at some point but if this is a good and viable enough alternative, I'd stick with it for a while
I thing I did with Driver4Vr was to turn all the smoothing stuff off. That fixed the delay for me. Could give it a shot if you didn't.
where do you find the smoothing settings
@@gothicbowie4349 sorry for the late reply. You find it under utilities and then Kinect filter something. It's the second last option there. It was such a huge improvement.

Keep in mind that the 360 Kinect has a lesser field of view than the one Kinect, also its facing one direction so you may wanna wall mount the 360 kinect on a corner of your room or put it directly in front of you because none of your other body parts will be tracked other than your front(i may be wrong but this is what i heard)
Driver4vr does have a free version but it limits features(unless you have an oldier version) thats why kinect2vr was made but you should really use that software with the 360 kinect as the one will work but it will do poorly for some reason(still though great video fin, keep up the good work!)
Edit: this is not to steer people away from this video, the one kinect has better field of view than the xbox 360 kinect but its costs way more

Agreed. If money is no issue for you (the viewers) then One Kinect is better. For cheaper option, go 360. I'm in a bonus room so I have to be a little closer to the sensor. the wider field of view on the One Kinect saved me from a wasted purchase of a 360 one.

Hey :) I'm a bit confused about Kinect2VR: are you referring to Amethyst by K2VR? Isn't that only for lower body tracking? at least thats what they say on their website

Got my xbox 360 kinect and power adapter usb conecter today. Downloaded kinect to vr software and toolkit.in c drive clicked on K2EX and the Kinect to Vr ap box in purple, it loaded up steam vr icon in black saying vr headset not detected?
Do I need to set this up via vr , I can't do this on my monitor?
My replacement quest 2 headset arrives in five days.
I always set up the calibration for mine NVR. You can do it on your monitor though. Your headset Hass to be able to work with steam VR before you can do this though!
I have a issue that states the kinect doesnt have power but it does and I got it to work once and now it is not working again.

I personally also now have the quest 2 and use the Kinect! If you want a more premium tracking you can always buy the trackers though!
Hey Finn just curious if there's any big difference setting up the xboxOne kinect? Is it easier because I won't need an adapter and have a bigger FOV on the camera?

Yes, the nyko Zoom will not work with the Kinect. It works in a way that it warps the what the camera sees so some softwares are NOT compatible! Sorry!

Sadly this works because of the Kinects special camera, I believe if you use 2 webcams there is another software for that though!
drive4vr now gives you an option to use your webcam for body tracking

I believe the hand tracking is just for Driver4VR, you could always join the KinectToVR’s discord and ask though!

Sadly the Kinect V2 is hot garbage compared to the 360 kinect in terms of tracking ability. Kinect V2 has a bad floor fog issue and way to many others ones to list.. DO NOT BUY THE KINECT V2!!

There is still the issue that you cannot turn your back to the kinect, because tracking will be lost, right?
I have a friend who uses kinect for VRCHAT and she said she can't do a full 360 turn. It won't track. Hope this helps!
There is an issue that if you turn around it will not track. But once you face to connect again the tracking will resume!

Tried both of these and still ran into issues my Kinect one won't calibrate unless I'm at least 1 foot in front of it so I can barely calibrate my whole body properly
My feet will not track like my legs are too long?? Even though they aren’t? They just will not work. They stay far away when I get in vrchat and try and move. does anyone know how to fix that??
Try setting the camera far enough away. Also make sure the light is good in the room. Try wearing different clothing as some absorbs the light and the Kinect cannot see jt

You can use just driver4vr or just Kinect to vr, either work great and you don’t need one for the other to work

The 360 Kinect works much better for vr and fullbody tracking. It has much lower latency and better tracking quality(at least with both of the softwares I reviewed) If you are buying a Kinect just for vr then definitely get the 360!

Sitting down can cause problems with both Kinects, I know people who have had problems with the xb1 kinect. If you already have the xb1 kinect they both will work! :)

my driver4vr looks completely different I only have the main option and the settings option but there's nothing I'm able to do in settings and there's very little I'm able to do in the main area compared to the video can someone help

@@Finnovation_Create It is, I tested with Kinect Explorer D2D and it tracked me, but when I put on my VR headset and open SteamVR and KinectToVR and I turn on "Track Skeleton", the skeleton does not show up.

Pretty sure because the Xbox 360 Kinect plugs into something which then plugs into the connect. You don't want to overload the kinect

I would use Kinect to VR but I use a cloud pc meaning I cant connect a actual webcam, so i use a phone for full body and driver 4 vr is not the best :/

I have downloaded K2VR installer, but it is saying I have to reinstall it every time I open the application. Is there an app that gets installed on your computer or do you have to install it everytime you want to start it up?
Keep in mind, I'm trying to set up the program when I don't have the Kinect connected.
Hmm, maybe connect the Kinect. If that doesn’t work ask in the k2vr discord server or on the k2vr website
Hey, I been having an problem for KincetToVr and was wondering if anyone knew how to fix it. It's not letting me setup the tracker and the skeleton won't show even after I click the box and when it does show, it's rather not green or not tracking me properly. And everytime when I do try to setup the trackers, it redricts me to their website about how to fix it and game me code "-10" Despite me connecting my KinectVr to SteamVR as they wanted me to, it's still not working. Any fixes for it?

@@Finnovation_Create Yeah thanks for the help! I got it working the next day and it was because my Kinect drivers weren't that good. But despite me doing all of that, I cannot use it on my end because my bedroom isn't large enough to use fullbody tracking.

I'm sad this can't work anymore. Especially if your pc is windows 11. I've had my kinect a while and now it kinda is useless to me. Xbox 360 kinect and the program isn't compatible with anything other then windows 10 and lower. And I ain't paying 400 for a kinect One at that rate just buy trackers.

Yes, but the webcam tracking doesn’t work the best! I recommend the kinect for the optimal experience, but it still works!

I have to ask…..because I’m absolutely having a rough time getting anything to work right for me with this…so my gaming pc is basically top of line and runs windows 11 however I’ve heard people say that’s the problem that windows 11 cannot run the programs for the 360 kinect…then I’ve heard some people say it’s the Kinect that’s mess up not the actual operating system. So I’m stuck in the middle not knowing what the problem is I have a flashing green light and none I mean NONE of the known fixes online helped at all and I don’t know what to do anymore is it my pc, the cable, or the Kinect? Idk I’m about to just give up and buy trackers.

verdade por isso uso o kinect to vr ,mais eu procurei esse video por esse motivo eu testei o driver4vr e cara que programa mal otimizado ele utiliza 40 % do processamento por mais que tem um pc bom so o processador q nao e tanto o kinect to vr faz o msm soq ele utiliza so 20% depois dessa atualizaçao ele ta menos pessado e fiquei feliz pakas pq fico parecendo um fullbody de verdade entao utilizo so o kinect to vr recomento ja q e de graça e o outro nao para fazer as msm coisa

It does work on laptop, but most laptops don’t have the power for pc vr, if your laptop can run SteamVR(most can not) then you should be able to run the Kinect as well! :) hope this helps!
