*AFTER THIS VIDEO WAS MADE THE PRICE HAS GONE UP AND A FEW COLORS DID TURN OUT TO BE FUGITIVE* Since the price is variable, at a higher price point I feel it would be better to go with the Pretty Excellent set ua-cam.com/video/MajOdwNZ56A/v-deo.html or Miya set ua-cam.com/video/duwuYF7x69Q/v-deo.html whichever you can find cheapest. They all have good paint performance, ideal for sketchbooks and beginner practice, without chalkiness or gritty textures found in other sets in the $20 range.
Those paint brushes are so nice !! I'm disappointed that the Payne's grey isn't really a Payne's grey but a black instead... it's one of my favourite colours. And those colour mixes are so beautiful.
Just subscribed and I’m a watercolor newbie. Thanks for sharing your information because I took a chance on these Dugato brushes beforehand . Now, I’m looking forward to playing.
LOL it's so hard to keep the hoarding in check with all the cool art supplies out there... I try to justify it by playing with them as much as possible :D
Thanks for pointing out that labeling lighter colors as "skin color" erases people with dark skin. This is the second video of yours I'm watching and I can't believe you have under 2k subscribers? People need to know about your videos and your art! Your reviews are so thorough yet to the point. Subscribing and becoming part of the notification squad.
You inspire me so much! These colors are nice and transparent too...love that! And I too love Bee Paper! Thank You for sharing your input and wonderdul, straightforward review... until next time! Laura🙋....
I was just rewatching your video (mainly for brushes), and realized these Dugato paints looked a lot like the very cheap Superior set I just ordered. I wanted it for the travel-friendly palette: it has a layout like Sakura Koi, but with removeable half pans. The set was so cheap ($7, but now on Prime Day deal for $6!), I figured I could throw away the paint if it was awful. I was hoping they would be the same paints as the fan palettes. I’m not really sure about that part, but they look EXACTLY the same as the Dugato in this video, including the Payne’s gray that is actually a black. Even color names and order are the same. I took a picture of the paints/palette, my swatches, and the outer package with color names/images. I would be glad to email the photos to you, if you would like them for your database. The little palette is as nice as I had hoped. The Amazon listing is pretty new, so I assume the price won’t stay that low, but it’s a great deal while it does.
What a great price, even for the tin alone! I'd love to see pictures of your set and if you can tell me what the Amazon listing title is, thanks so much - enchantedgallery@gmail.com
Luv your vids! They really inspire me to find time for painting. As far as the excess supplies are concerned, have you considered doing giveaways? It's a great promotional tool for your channel and you'll get and keep more subs too. It may seem like a waste of money at first but the more popular you get, the more companies will send you new products to feature on your vids.
Thank you and I'll keep that in mind. I was debating doing an appreciation video for when I hit 1k subs, a giveaway might be a great way to celebrate a milestone :)
I think by bubbling you mean the salt sprinkled onto the color chart? The salt texture reaction (snowflake pattern) shows which are made from different size/weight of pigment particles. For instance here Yellow Ochre and Ivory Black are heavier granulating pigments, so they will not react to table salt. In mixtures this means these colors will separate from the others in wet washes. Happy painting :)
@@KimberlyCrick Hi and thanks so much. I don't mean the gorgeous salt reaction (love it). I was wondering if the slight bubbling reaction may have something to do with the watercolor paper sizing if possibly you weren't using 100% cotton paper. I love. both for various techniques - but mostly use Canon or Strathmore 140 lb. watercolor paper for most things. What are your thoughts?
@@happymv5350 Oh! Yeah, this pack of Bee brand Cotton Cold Press had been open for too long. After a while the sizing goes bad on it so you'll start to see tiny flecks where the watercolor sinks into the paper at different rates. Sorry, I hadn't noticed. Nowadays I use Arches cold press and sometimes Winsor and Newton's pro cotton papers and it's been better and takes more layering too.
These brushes work great with gouache, they can hold a lot of paint. Though you may find yourself wanting flat style brushes too, since the pointed round tips are better for details and creating teardrop shapes like petals. Finding an assortment that includes flat rectangle shape tips will make it easier to make broad strokes with gouache, so there are no streaks in your art as you move the paint around.
I miss your reviews. They are among the most thorough and honest in youtube.
Wow, what a bargain!

And all the cool reviews make it even harder! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stopped in the middle of one of your videos and went to Amazon! LOL

😲👍👍💟Wow, it's really worth using. There are 24 colors in the Effervescent Cartridge. Great.
Nice work 👍👍👌
I tried their squirrel hair brushes, gotta say pretty nice for my first mop brushes. :)))
