  • Putting up my Shift Pod tent for Burning Man. Was going to make a Yurt but for a bunch of money more I got a tent that will fit in my Pickup and I can handle by myself if needed. Just read the instructions and watched a video. 60 lbs worth Double walled in a quilted pattern. Heat stitched not threaded on the outer shell. Reflective material inside and out. Good for heat and cold. Lots of tie downs, windows, storage pouches. The stakes are tough and the tie down ropes have a pawl device...very cool. The floor zips in and can be replaced. 2 flapped holes for power cords. Vents for AC unit and two top vents with what looks like washable filters. Not too bad putting up. 6 month wait on mine but they just got a shipment in. Cost $$ but you do get what you pay for...must say this is a very nice tent. Look forward to taking it to the burn. No more sleeping in the back of my pickup...yahoo

Cool! A lot less volume of material to haul than a Hexayurt, too.

You can put a title on this and add tag words to get more views. Have a kid show you how...Or watch videos:-) My son told me
"Dad, I don't know how to do this but I'm pretty sure my friends on UA-cam do.
That includes processing a cow learning how to do the starter on his truck probably about 150 things we've learned how to do it on UA-cam.

Any model you would recommend, are they as big and do they come with floor so they can be used as regular tent?

      Josh,
There are a couple of similarities but they're not much comparison of all in quality and durability. You're not going to get much for 200 bucks in a nice fishing shelter you can get an Eskimo yes but the only one you can get for 200 bucks that's the bottom of the line you can get some insulation but not anything like this. The shift pods are well worth the money in the long run!!
One huge difference is it in most ice shelters other than Eskimo you're not getting good zippers you're getting off-brand run of the mill knock off zippers Escalade does use YKK zippers on their bigger models.
I don't know about the $200 model I've been meaning to check on that.
The biggest difference is the fact that all fishing shelters use fiberglass poles for their hub system and shift pod uses carbon graphite you're talking last century to this century actually talking last millennia to this millennial fiberglasses antique is heavy very prone to breaking etc shift pod use carbon graphite pods and shift pod III is 10 lb lighter than the older model and that's a massive difference!!!
