Having my morning coffee on the deck when I hear a commotion. The quad made it to the bottom of the hill and hit a car. The girls, last seen, were hightailing out of the neighborhood. Hell of a morning laugh

Putting up my Shift Pod tent for Burning Man. Was going to make a Yurt but for a bunch of money more I got a tent that will fit in my Pickup and I can handle by myself if needed. Just read the instructions and watched a video. 60 lbs worth Double walled in a quilted pattern. Heat stitched not threaded on the outer shell. Reflective material inside and out. Good for heat and cold. Lots of tie do...

Dirtbag checking out my truck. Nothing inside. Lesson learned from past break-ins. Motion light didn't pick him up until it was too late. Cops were called and they showed but video not much help. Quite winter, first sign of spring
Another dirtbag breaks into my truck

Sept 13th, 0611 hr. Everett WA. Second time my truck has been tossed. Nothing to get but a few bucks and the beads hanging on my mirror (ooh, shiny objects). Of note: he was heading for the house steps (not good) when the motion detector lights sent him scurrying back (good). Also, while no Houdini, it only took him 45 sec to defeat the lock on my truck so he has some skill. Thank you, dirtbag,...

You can put a title on this and add tag words to get more views. Have a kid show you how...Or watch videos:-) My son told me "Dad, I don't know how to do this but I'm pretty sure my friends on UA-cam do. That includes processing a cow learning how to do the starter on his truck probably about 150 things we've learned how to do it on UA-cam.

What are your thoughts on the tent now? Do you think it will last as long as a heavy canvas tent?

Holding up fine. Very happy with it. Should last a long time. I’ve only used it for BM. 3rd Burn. As a emergency shelter I could live in it a long time in it. I do not know how it would hold up in the prolonged rain but would rather have this than canvas.

Cool! A lot less volume of material to haul than a Hexayurt, too.

Posted by Lidia: Any model you would recommend, are they as big and do they come with floor so they can be used as regular tent?

Josh, There are a couple of similarities but they're not much comparison of all in quality and durability. You're not going to get much for 200 bucks in a nice fishing shelter you can get an Eskimo yes but the only one you can get for 200 bucks that's the bottom of the line you can get some insulation but not anything like this. The shift pods are well worth the money in the long run!! One huge difference is it in most ice shelters other than Eskimo you're not getting good zippers you're getting off-brand run of the mill knock off zippers Escalade does use YKK zippers on their bigger models. I don't know about the $200 model I've been meaning to check on that. The biggest difference is the fact that all fishing shelters use fiberglass poles for their hub system and shift pod uses carbon graphite you're talking last century to this century actually talking last millennia to this millennial fiberglasses antique is heavy very prone to breaking etc shift pod use carbon graphite pods and shift pod III is 10 lb lighter than the older model and that's a massive difference!!!

Yah, got hot. 105 mid day. Would put the windows down but didn't want the dust. Had a swamp cooler but dropped it a little. Going to have shade thisYear. We will have 3 pods in camp and perhaps more to come. I like it.

How did your Shiftpod manage during the festival . I noticed that you didn't put a cover over your pod, did it ever get too hot?

sleeping 7 to 9 days in the back of my truck sucks. Regular tents get trashed by dust

yeah, a chunk. Only $1K. I'm cost averaging over the 5 years I slept in the back of the truck...my reward. They appear to hold resell value too.
